So... after 6 years of having an in-home daycare and 16 years as a preschool teacher, I am moving on to a “big girl job”. :)

I have tons of supplies, toys, equipment, etc. and was wondering if any of my fellow budget friends could give me some pointers for the best way to raise Disney funds while clearing out these things. I have looked at ebay and am worried that it just would not be worth my time and effort; especially with shipping costs. The past few times we had a yard sale, my DH gave many items away for a quarter. :scared1:

I was thinking of bagging items in gallon sized bags and setting firm prices on them at a yard sale. I have various building toys etc that I know I paid decent money for even when I bought them second hand myself. Have any of you had a good experience with ebay? Is it worth my time to list items there? Would it be better to sell them in lots and groups? Do any of you have luck with this sort of thing on Craigs List? Or does a yard sale look like my best option?

I would love to hear any of your pointers or tips.

Ebay or Craiglist would probably net a higher price. That must be weighed against the extra work of shipping (Ebay), or arranging to meet with interested parties (Craigslist).

A yard sale net much at all. My dh sounds like yours, he just wanted the stuff gone and just gave most if it away. I would rather donate it to a church preschool then to "give" it away at a yard sale. Also, I think craigslist would work better than ebay considering the fees and shipping. JMHO good luck

Ebay for smaller items that you can flat rate ship and make the buyer pay for shipping.

Craigslist for the bigger items that you want to be firm on price and the buyer comes and picks up

Yard sale for the items that you just want to get rid of because the other two options have not panned out;)

My expierance, the kids items will go IF priced right. Too high they won't go. I would not expect to get all your money back for something that you bought 5/10years ago.

Good luck:thumbsup2

Probably make more $ on Ebay, but it's time consuming and you have to pay fees to post item and then pay again after it's sold, then pack and ship (pay).

If you just want stuff gone:wizard: (we've done both) go with the garage / yard sale.

GL!

Do you have any mom to mom sales where you are? They are basically garage sales indoors, that you pay to have a table at (here they are $15-20/table) and you sell all your stuff and keep the profits. A lot of schools/churches have them here. I like them because everyone coming to those are looking for kid things. I just made almost $300 and the one I did, and I spent $30 on the table.
