We sold a Camera on Ebay had tons of people watching and bidding and it ended last night. Now today the buyer deleted his account it told us they would back the charges out and we could do a 2nd time offer but they deleted the whole auction. I called in and they said it was to protect us and that I have to re list again. Has any one ever had this happen?

Yes...happened to me. It stunk when you had to start the whole prices over. But it wasn't really a fair auction if there were fake buyers in there anyway.

Made me decide to be done with ebay...there's way too many fraudsters in (insert third world nation) with nothing better to do than screw up an ebay auction...kinda like trolls on message boards.

Thank You, I just want to see if this was normal. I am just so upset it was over 400.00 and he only outbid the next buyer by $5.00. I don't understand why they would tell me to do a 2nd chance auction when they already deleted the whole thing. Of course Ebay customer service was rude so guess I will just be done with the whole thing.

If you're a new seller on Ebay, you're a magnet for all kinds of scams and unscrupulous buyers. Just be sure you follow the rules about payments and shipping, which includes having signature confirmation for any auction that goes over $250. Otherwise you're going to find that selling on Ebay is a lot harder than you expected.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say the buyer deleted his account. You can't just delete an account like that; sounds as if eBay suspended your buyer's account because of some kind of violation. If your buyer was a scammer, eBay did you a favor.

All you need to do is relist and file to get your fees refunded. Not that big a deal. The people watching and bidding on your previous auction will be back.

If you are nervous about Ebay, try to sell it on Craigslist.com. I have purchased many items on there and I have been pleased with every purchase. I have bought from Ebay and have been extremely pleased. I guess, we have faith in the service..good luck:)

Thank you everyone. My husband re listed it so hopefully we won't have any problems this time. The whole thing was just annoying especially with how rude the Ebay customer service was.

He won the auction last night then we got a email saying that there was a issue with the purchaser and they were cancelling the auction and the person was deleted. The reason I was even upset with Ebay was they said we could do a 2nd time offer then we went to do it the whole thing was removed so we couldn't do that. Then when I called I was talked to like crap. We leave for Disney in less than two weeks and this was more extra money to take.

The problem with the 2nd chance offer is that if the winning bidder was a scammer or a shill (a fake bidder designed to get the 2nd highest bidder to the highest point without going over), the 2nd chance offer is higher than it should have been had the scammer/shill not bid.

It would have ended at whatever price it was at before the scammer/shill bid.

That could be the reason why eBay deleted the auction as well.
