I wonder if it is even possible to get through 14 days without doing laundry........I will make that my quest for the next 18 months, to find a way to make that happen.
Probably easier when you don't have kids, right? :thumbsup2

Hmm.....I am bringing febreeze.....:rolleyes1

Erica... I'm going to break it to you gently about how to survive doing wash on DCL... CALL ROOM SERVICE AND BRING A DRINK!!!

It shouldn't be as bad this time... alot less people on board... Anyhow... 2 am I hear was the best time to do it...

If you go to Target, Walmart or CVS... look for the little bottles of All in the travel section... I brought a few of these and it was great - 2 loads a bottle - no powder to spill (put in small zip lock bag next to bendy's booze...:rotfl: )

Hello everyone, one day soon I will know you all by name and welcome to any new cruisers!!!

My mom booked the cruise as well, she will be on Deck 5 near us so that is very exciting, it will be her retirement cruise!!! She has dis-ed occasionnaly so she has a user name, so I know she will be joining our thread soon, she is so excited about the FE!!!

Just a bit of bragging, but my ds, Jacob won a poster contest for Fire Chief for a day. It was such a wonderful day, they gave him his own firefighter uniform and genuine helmet. He did so well and was on the news and in the local paper, I am very proud of him!!! Just had to share!!!

This is the base amount. Do people add more to that?

Kim

It's up to you as to whether you add extra or not. We have almost always had service that we felt warranted extra in the tip envelope. We usually charge the suggested amount and then add any extra in cash, but you could easily charge the increased amount instead.

cool my oldest son is 9. I'm thinking after 14 days the kids may make some great friends.:)

I know on my last cruise, a few of us did pen pals/e-pals with our kids so they got to know eachother before the cruise. It worked out well, and they looked so forward to meeting their fnew riends. It may be a bit far out at this point but as it gets closer to the date, I think it is fun for the kidlets.

Hope you all have a great day!!!

Gina

Michelle, you do realize that if Brenda comes on this cruise, the boat will surely run out of booze and desserts......:rotfl:

Good advice about the detergent! The more I think about it, the more the reality sets in......laundry will have to be done. Especially if I can manage to actually WORK OUT this time. We didn't go to the gym ONCE on our 7-day. Shocking, I know :rolleyes1

I put some information on Gibraltar on the website. I've found some links to the cable car (including prices/hours/etc.) and other activities that I'll add soon. I also hope to put info up for the other ports soon.

Very cool, thank you!

My niece is really into American girl...the conference has been so busy so haven't seen much of Chicago at all...

Lisa

My siblings and daughter love American Girl! I took them to the store in NYC a few weeks ago, and they were very happy. It was mobbed though, and poor DH felt like he was in "hell."
I got Olivia a bitty baby doll for Christmas, as I think it will be good for her to have a nice baby doll after her baby brother arrives :)

Okay, I think I am way behind the times here. Since when have we been able to pre-pay our tips? When I called to add airfare, I mentioned all I had left to pay was tips. The CM told me that I could pre-pay those now. Of course, I still can add extra on the cruise if I like (which I always do). But it is nice to know, I only have to pay the extra.

BTW a Cat 3 for 2A and 1 Teen was $10,200 on Monday. There was only ONE left.

DH and I have always pre-paid our tips- it makes things easier at the end, since we tend to run up other charges for shore excursions and photographs.

Welcome aboard to your mom!

I'm planning to do laundry onboard. We did it 2-3 times on the PC cruise. It was a little tough finding a washer/dryer, but when you have little kids along (especially my daughter- who I've been known to call "the puker") you NEED to do laundry! My son will only be around 16 months, so I know we're going to need to do laundry with him!

I might do a little port research today- we're going to my brother's birthday party tonight, and I'm sure everyone would love to hear some cruise details. We're all still giddy over booking!

Hi, I'm Belle1627's Mom, Carol. I just booked EB TA cruise with all of you. I'm so excited. This is my first cruise and I'm going to make it my retirement cruise as I will be one year away from my 65th Birthday. I am soooooooo excited about going, especially as I will be with my DD, DSIL and DGS, and DGD.

Hey Mom, glad to "see" you here!!!! Welcome Aboard!!!

Gina

Hey Lisa, Glad you are having a great time!!! My TA did get it all worked out, she apparently forwarded my emails to DCL HQ and they said it was an oversight on their part so I get DCL's OBC, my TA's and my mom just booked so DCL is giving me an additional OBC for friends and family, so I am doing so well!!!! I will need all the extras I can get, just to cover my Shutters bill:scared1:

Take care!!:)
Glad it worked out!
Portillo's is the best!! You also need to get some Giordanos Chicago Style Stuffed Pizza...Its great!!! Have fun!
It was great! Didn't have time for the pizza though...got it late last night home (at midnight)! There was a family that was traveling to Asia - they were so excited. I thought about how excited our family will be when this cruise starts!!
love it, have to cruise twice to enjoy a savings, am I reading this right???

I booked a dummy on our repo cruise not knowing what I would put it on, until this came along. I'm going on a NYE cruise and thinking of booking one more dummy if I can book for just one person and then have it hanging out there for the new ships when they are ready...Please don't rat me out to my DH, he would not see the logic make a deposit today to save a tomorrow :rolleyes1

10% savings is better than you can get any in other financial market right now!!!

Trying to get motivated to do some housework/organizing today...it is always so hard...

Hi Carol! What a great cruise for your first. I hope you enjoy cruising as much as I do.

Gina: Have you thought about the baby giving Bitty Baby to his big sister as a gift? Rather than waiting for Xmas. We had Wilson give Molly a teddy bear and she carried that bear everywhere (until she got Bitty 8 months later ;) Might help with being displaced as the only one :rolleyes1

ok, so it's an investement ya that will be my answer...

housework, yuck. I need to also, but I'm not doing it. Molly and I are watching Ididorod race on the discovery channel, the series not the real race. I love those dogs. Makes me want to seld again. ::yes::

Molly and I need to run out for some errands. We are making some peeps/smore/corn candy treats for the scouts for our Halloween Party on Sunday...must get supplies.

Erica... we don't have to worry about Bendy drinking the boat dry...

NAN'S GONNA DO IT!!! (right Nan???) Bendy doesn't drink rum... now does she???

We'll have to pack her some of the little bottles in case of emergency...

& you'll have 2 weeks... walk through the gym once and you're in!!!

Good morning all!!! Found us over on page 2!! Hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday, I think I'll go do laundry, ugh!!!

Gina

Oh... Horrors!!! Pg 2... I think the west coasters are still asleep... ;)

Good afternoon everyone. I dont get to post much, but I try to keep up with the thread. I cant belive we are into the last week of October already. This cruise will be here before we know it.;)

Morning! To save money for the cruise I am charge of the demolition during our house remodel. Yesterday I took down four lays of drywall in the hallway. Our goal is to have the remodel finished before the cruise. We are taking down every single wall in our house and rebuilding everything. It is a ton of work and we are about 1/3 of the way through.

Today we are off to Pug-o-Ween in Seattle. Our little pug Violet is going as a witch :)

Hi there Gina,

Congrats to Jacob!!!! I remember you saying they were going to postpone it until you returned from your trip.. He must have been so excited, what an experience and now he can show off his uniform.. Good for him.

I've gotta bring up the dollar, what heck is going on????? Were panicing, especially since we haven't received our Visa statement from the last cruise. I'm certainly hoping this is a temporary thing, and thing return back up. Or were gonna be screwed (can I say that here).
I see you were working on Kristin to join us on this cruise. Any luck?
And how wonderful your mom's joining you? How great is that, and (built in baby sitter, hope she does read this)
I tell ya its been a tough week returning for our cruise a week ago.....

Welcome aboard Carol!!!

Were one of the other Canadian families that was on Gina's last cruise, and are headed on the EB TA as well. I'm Alex, DW is Michelle and DD"S Maggie and Rebecca. Up until 3 years ago we too lived in Ajax and have since moved to Stouffville. There is another family from Bowmanville sailing with us as well.
What a great gift to give yourself for retirement. Since you'll then be retired, maybe it can become a habit:banana:

Since the baby is coming so close to Christmas, we decided to save the doll for the holiday. Olivia is funny because she has been insisting for the last couple of weeks that Santa MUST be bringing her a baby doll.

I was excited to find the American Girl code this morning. I picked up three bitty baby clearance outfits and paid under $30 with shipping. I'll probably save those for her birthday in April :)

Oh, demolition sounds fun!

I'm cooking up a storm over here, and it's pretty fun :) We're having great weather today too. Too bad it's back to work tomorrow :(
