Eating in France Before the Park Opens.

That does sound lovely. Is this your first trip?

The reality of the size if Disney World is very hard to imagine. The place is huge, getting from place A to place B is time consuming.

The lines in MK bakery in the mornings can be very long.

Another option is going to the Poly Capt Cooks CS and getting it to go and then sitting outside to have your view and your coffe. Heck, room service is even easier and sit on your balcony.

Good luck and let us know how it was when you get back :cool1:

We went last year...and stayed at POR. It did take us forever to get everywhere we wanted to go. Which is why we are staying at the GF, this year. I am up with the birds...and ready to go early in the AM. My family is not!!! Last year, I found myself getting frustrated because I couldn't really leave and go anywhere without waiting for them...where we were at, at POR, it was a hike just to get CS.
During that trip, we visited the gingerbread house, at the GF and I was amazed how fast we were able to get to the main places we wanted to go...MK and Epcot, using the monorail. Which is why we're staying where we're staying, this year. With park hopper tickets, my hope is to go where I want first thing in the AM, with whomever is ready to leave and then have the rest of the family meet us, using cell phones. We will be going again in early December. We found the parks to be almost empty, last year first thing in the AM...hoping for the same thing this year. But, that is still 169 days away.

I was hoping to do the monorail, for France...I have read, though that it takes an average of an hour to get there...don't really believe that. Otherwise, somewhere in walking distance.

Believe it. You would have to wait for the resort monorail to arrive at GF, ride it while it stops at MK and the Contemporary, get out at TTC and switch to the Epcot monorail. You would then wait for the Epcot monorail to arrive, ride to Epcot (the monorail makes one entire circuit around the whole park), get out, stand in line to have your bag checked (if you have a bag), stand in line to go through the Epcot turnstiles, and walk through all of Future World to the World Showcase, where you would pass Canada, UK and the IG bridge before arriving at France.

If you are booked for the Akershus breakfast, you have to be admitted to WS by cast members, as the rest of WS is closed.

France, like the rest of World Showcase, opens at 11 AM. Unless you have some sort of special or private booking that will get you in there before everybody else, you won't be able to pick up pastries there until then.

If you want to eat at Epcot at opening, you can get pastries at Sunshine Seasons in the Land. However, it is indoors and you will not have a view of anything.

I think that the Kona coffee bar has been replaced with a Sushi bar, so that's not really an option any longer if I'm correct.

I'm not sure it has been replaced. The sushi bar operates there in the evenings when the coffee bar wasn't open anyway. Allears didn't say the coffee bar closed just that the sushi bar was being tried on a trial basis during the evenings.

I just read somewhere else that in the AM they still serve coffee. Sushi in the afternoons, but I haven't been there so I don't know for sure.

Were it me, staying at the GF, and I wanted a nice relaxing breakfast while my family got ready, here's what I would do:

~ the night before, I would grab a pastry from France, or school bread from Norway, or something from Main St. Bakery, and take it back to my room.

~ that morning, I would get up, grab a coffee somewhere at the GF, and head down to the beach outside.

~ find somewhere nice and quiet to sit and enjoy my breakfast. And I believe there are some lovely views of MK and other things surrounding Seven Seas lagoon from there.

I did think the Kona Cafe...heard their coffee is the best, actually. France just seems so much more quaint.

The coffee bar isn't the actual restaurant but outside of it. And France really isn't that quaint since it's usually really crowded and it's tough to get a seat nearby.

There are lots of nooks and crannies at the Polynesian to sit down and relax while your family gets ready. You can even take your breakfast down to the pool or beach and sit there.

Great suggestion!!! That idea sounds like heaven...I could spend the next 169days thinking about just breakfast. :lovestruc

I'll have to give this idea a whirl, too...thanks!!!:cloud9:

I may have posted about my "Breakfast in France" on the thread you were speaking of.

This was a special event that I had as part of a 4 day celebration of my 45th birthday! Unfortunately, it rained that morning and it had to be moved indoors. Still...the Disney photographer did get some pics of us around the area before the park opened...after the rain stopped. It was a wonderful breakfast, but incredibly expensive because of it being a private event. There were 10 of us total. We also had "streetmosphere" performers that were great. But the French husband and wife bakers did not quite fit in with the indoor location at the American Adventure. Luckily the other events during the 4 days all went off beautifully. We were able to do a private dinner in the Great Movie Ride after the park closed and that was simply amazing.

Disney can put together some incredible private events, but they are pricey...especially for a small group. I felt the splurge was in order as I had finished chemo a few months before and my friends wanted to help me celebrate!
