Eat at home

Tonight is supposed to be hamburgers/crabby Patties but I'm not sure if I'll be doing that for just the two of us since the kids are going to grandma and grandpa's tonight.I have a few other plans in no particular order.(edited to add) Decided against the patties I bought a frozen five cheese pizza while at the store and a box of fried cheese ravioli. I will add marinated artichokes and olives to the pizza. So pizza, a movie on demand and Sangria sounds like a good date night.

A friend gave me some spicy black bean soup that she wasen't going to use before it expired. I thinking I'll try to make it into some sort of chili by adding beans, onions, tomatos, and chili seasoning. We will have cornbread with that.

Hotdogs/veggie sandwhiches, veggies, baked potatos
Spaghetti and bread
chicken salad/tuna salad sandwiches, mac and cheese and carrots
grilled cheese and tomato soup
chiken or cheese qeusadillas and corn

Monday-Flat iron steak (on sale for $1.99/lb) with baked potatoes
Tuesday-Pork chops with broccoli and cheddar pasta
Wednesday-OnCor frozen sliced turkey and gravy over homemade mashed potatoes and niblets corn in butter sauce
Thursday-Hot dogs at a friend's fundraiser for her mission trip
Friday-creamed chipped beef on toast with leftover mashed potatoes
Saturday-baked pasta with meatballs
Sunday-chicken alfredo

I have putting $250 in an envelope for 2 weeks worth of grocery shopping which also includes paper goods, cleaning products, and toiletries. If we eat out, it would have to come out of that envelope because that is what we budgeted for food. It's amazing how easy it is to stay away from restaurants and fast food places when you put a strict limit on your spending and can't just go swipe the debit card!

i made eat at home cook's beef and black bean taco bake or something like that. Ive made it once before and it was ok but this time I used tortilla chips instead of tortillas and it was much better. I also added queso and picante and lettuce. Mmm mmm.

Here's the plan for the next 2 weeks. Money is TIGHT this payday so other then the pizza we had tonight and DH's bday, we'll be eating at home, no exceptions.

Sat: Grilled hot dogs with chili sauce and baked beans

Sun: Crockpot apricot chicken with jasmine rice

Mon: Italian sausage soup with fresh bread

Tues: Mostacholi bake

Weds: French toast, sausage links

Thurs: Meatloaf muffins, baked potatoes

Fri: Homemade pizza

Sat: Chicken wings, onion rings

Sun: Chili, cornbread

Mon: :bday: DH! - he'll choose dinner out

Tues: Creamed chipped beef over toast with mashed potatoes

Weds: Baked taco pasta

Thurs: Grilled chicken noodle soup with apple muffins

DH is out of town this weekend, I'm sure he is eating some junky stuff with his dad and brothers. lol. DS is at work tonight and there is no telling with him. ;)

The girls and I went to a party at a park tonight and I let the girls eat whatever they wanted while were there. There wasn't much for me because of my gluten intolerance but I had contributed two flavors of kettle chips and a sesame seaweed rice chips to the offerings and I could munch those, plus I had some baby carrots and some celery sticks. Now I'm eating some reheated (yummy) chicken and veggie soup.

I have fresh strawberries in the fridge that we keep somehow not getting to each night! OI! Maybe I can work them in at breakfast tomorrow.

Hey everyone! I have been really busy and we leave for WDW in just 4 days:banana: I have been cleaning out my fridge and freezer. Today I am making the Sandwich Kings chilcken mole tortas. I am making the sauce stove top and throwing it all in the crockpot for dinner tonight! I think my cameras are all packed up but I might have to take a pic of this one!

I will post my food porn pics from the Dream and WDW when I get back!

I had a rough night last night and then a rough morning this morning, sleeping in and needing to squeeze in a chiropractic appointment. But DS20 and DD11 helped out with finishing making our gluten free pancakes DD13 made us some fresh whipped cream so I finally used up my fresh strawberries.

For lunch everyone fended for themselves from leftovers.

And dinner was a similar free for all, but we had stuff from the farmers market run we did this morning. So their have been heirloom apples being munched at different times of day and my dinner was a fresh tomato and "grilled cheese", not traditional grilled cheese sandwiches which I would have loved but literally a kind of cheese called "gretna grillin" which I grilled and it tastes kind of like eating a grilled cheese sandwich. mm, mm, good.

Dinner was yummy tonight. We had: crockpot baby back ribs, fresh brocolli w/ cheese, hash browns, and fresh baked bread.Tomorrow is spaghetti w/ meat sauce and meatballs, salad and garlic bread.

I am so proud of myself. I went to Carr's and paid $86 for a week's groceries (including 2 free movie rentals). I saved $79, so my food was almost half off! Food is expensive here, but I studied the specials and loss leaders and planned my week around them. Here's my menu:

Saturday:
Lunch--soft tacos (meat or black bean) with store bought salsa and homemade guacamole
Dinner--King crab legs, salad w/ homemade blue cheese dressing, sour dough bread

Sunday:
Lunch--sandwiches (roast turkey and provolone) and grapes
Dinner--spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, some kind of apple dessert (pie? strudel?)

Monday--teriyaki chicken wings, fried rice, carrots

Tuesday--bratwurst, mashed potatoes, cabbage

Wednesday--hamburgers and fries

Thursday--leftovers

Friday--we'll probably use a groupon and eat out :)

That's awesome! I want to do that! I am in the process of re-organizing my coupons and circulars so maybe I'll have some success to report later too. :)

We had to eat out last night, as we were at a band competition from noon until midnight! But, dh and I shared a chicken parmesan meal from a local place and still couldn't finish it! So it was still fairly inexpensive. I won't say what we spent on funnel cakes and hot cocoa! :rotfl:
