Ok - starting back up. :) The asterisks help me know what I already have versus what I need to buy.

Monday3- Stew* (beef, carrots, zucchini, potatoes), tuna* sandwiches on flat bread

Thursday6- crockpot sweet and sour chicken, rice, asparagus

Friday7- Kielbasa, saurkraut, mashed potatoes, and lima beans

December was a disaster of NON eating at home. time to get back on track.

Next week in some order...

Today--pork and kraut

homemade pizza
some kind of chicken; either parm or baked
tacos
burgers
beef fajitas

We are getting back on track todays as well. I have a turkey in the oven and will be doing the traditional dinner. We will be doing leftovers tomorrow and then freezing the rest of the meat for casseroles etc.

I'm on board this year! We very rarely dine out, but I need to work on taking leftovers for my lunches at work as much as possible this year OR plan ahead and buy things to make lunches vs. buying.

Typically I plan for about 7-10ish dinners between grocery runs. This week is still kind of up in the air but here is a "rough draft" of my menu.

Sunday: Lazy Overnight Caramel Rolls
Spicy tortellini soup/beer bread (will make around lunch and graze on it all day whenever anyone is hungry)

Monday: Sloppy Joes/Homemade French Fries/Salad
Tuesday: Tacos/Spanish Rice
Wed: FFY (Kids will eat at religion)
Thurs: Tuna Noodle Casserole or Tuna Melts
Friday: Pizza night or Leftovers

Here we go for 2011....

Saturday: Mac n Cheese with ham and broccoli;
Sunday: L=homemade turkey soup; D=Pork roast, m. potatoes and g.beans;
Monday: Chili and hotdogs;
Tuesday: Spaghetti and meatsauce and salad;
Wednesday: Fish, rice pilaf and peas;
Thursday: Grilled porkchops, 3 cheese potatoes and corn;
Friday: Not sure....

Well, December was a disaster. Plus, I'd lost 35 pounds, and I weighed myself today, and 20 came back (not just in December, but from maybe September on I quit paying attention to what I ate. It all started with this great rib festival in Reno . . ). So back on track. Not doing diet foods for dinner since I think the kids like full calorie foods better, and I do okay with one luxurious meal a day as long as it isn't in a restaurant, where portions are always ginormous and everything is drowned in sugar and fat.

Here's this week:

Today: pot roast, mashed potatoes, root vegies
Sunday: spinach lasagna, salad
Monday: burritos made w/ leftover pot roast meat
Tuesday: chili
Wednesday: grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup
Thursday: cracked crab, sourdough bread, salad
Friday: crab cakes made with leftover crab, salad

Off to go grocery shopping now. Also getting a thermos and some containers for food at work/school. That's my new years resolution-to make my own coffee and bring lunch at least 9/10 times.

Well :welcome: aboard everyone! Its seems that January is a get back on track month. i myself am going grocery shopping tomorrow for two weeks of food. i am still reading a book on how to cut your grocery bill in half. I will post my menu tomorrow. happy new year everyone! Here is to saving money!:jumping1::cheer2::dance3::jumping1:

I'm joining!!! I don't have much to post as we have ate out almost all this week. But that needs to stop! The money we spend on eating out is crazy. I do have a couple recipes I can post soon! :)

Thank you so much for starting this thread. Hopefully we can save some money for our Disney trip in November. :)

I made out our menu for the next week. Most everything is coming out of the freezer and the pantry so I am not expecting a huge grocery bill this week.

Sunday- Crock pot potato and double corn chowder
Monday- Crock pot pork and sweet potato casserole
Tuesday- Chocolate chip banana pancakes with sausage and fruit
Wednesday- Vegetable beef soup with garlic cheddar biscuits
Thursday- Orange balsamic glazed chicken with carrot souffle
Friday- homemade pizza and salad
Saturday- Pot roast

Food and the grocery store are our biggest meal busters. I need to plan meals ahead so I can shop effectively, not run to the store for ingredients (I always buy WAY more than the ingredients) and not buy fast food or convenience foods.

I'm going to peruse the thread now!

:welcome: aboard! We are saving up for our trip in December. eating out was so easy for us but now that our girls are old enough for their own order its the price times 4 and that is not cheap! Good luck in your journey!:cool1:
