Eat at home

I made a huge batch of French Onion Soup yesterday and we had steak french dip sandwiches last night. I froze the left over soup today and I use that for things like pot roast and a quick soup lunch.

Not sure what I'll make each day, but I am planning on soup at some point this weekend. I have quite a few soup recipes I want to try, and I have everything I need for all them except celery. I also want to try this orange-sesame tofu recipe that I have everything I need for except the greens.

Tonight we are finally having the leftover pot roast from the freezer with crescent rolls.

I am officially meal planned until Christmas. So excited that I don't have to think about anything from now until then. I'm hoping we don't really have to shop too much either. Most of it I have in the freezer or pantry. We'll just be doing pizza runs for DH. Here's the plan:
Wednesday - Mostaciolli
Thursday - leftovers
Friday - chicken, potatoes & carrots in the crockpot for Rudolph night (baking cutout cookies & making choc. covered pretzels too)
Saturday - leftovers
Sunday - shrimp tacos (so excited for this! DS wanted it since we had them at the Food & Wine Festival on Halloween)
Monday - leftover shrimp with broccoli
Tuesday - BLT's
Wednesday - mac & cheese (easy night)
Thursday - breakfast for dinner
Friday - grandpa's house for the kiddos... DH's Christmas party for us... drinks & food - yay!!!
Saturday - grinch night (beef stew, who pudding & green punch) plus make peanut butter cups & peanut blossoms)
Sunday - turkey tacos
Monday - leftovers
Tuesday - chicken chili
Wednesday - leftovers
Thursday - leftovers
Friday - cheese pizza & pepsi - making gingerbread house, men & dipping marshmallows in chocolate
Saturday - meatloaf cupcakes with mashed potato frosting
Sunday - leftovers
Monday - spaghetti & meatballs
Tuesday - leftovers
Wednesday - breakfast for dinner
Thursday - easy dinner (mac & cheese or grilled cheese)
Friday - a christmas carol movie night - turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, egg nog, snowmen ice cream treats - making pumpkin whoopie cookies during the day
Saturday - dinner at my sister's for christmas eve
Sunday - dinner at grandma's for christmas day

Wow BUDAFAM you are on top of it! Way to go! :cool1: Tonight we are going to a Chili Supper at DD12's school. For reasons I won't go into, the Fall Fest was postponed this year at the last minute and it was rescheduled for tonight. They won't be having the Haunted House.... probably a good decision since it is almost CHRISTMAS!!! :lmao:

So... I HAD a meal list done for the rest of December, but now I have to totally redo it. Thanks to a thread on the Community Boards, I have decided to finally take the steps needed to change my diet and my lifestyle. You all got a little bit of the break down the other day, but it went beyond that. I realized I can't continue living the way I do. I'm always tired, sick, and hurt and I am sick and tired of feeling that way.

Monday is the start of it. Baby steps at first (no more soda, no more fast food, clean out the fridge, restock with healthy options) and then the bigger steps will happen (totally change how we eat, adding in exercise and personal time to my days). I really don't think it is THAT big of a change how we eat except for the soda, fast food, and portion control issues. I have spent the last few days finding new recipes and ideas so I feel like I am ready!

Once I get the menu done, I'll post it!

Last night I made sweet and sour chicken over rice. Tonight my DH and I are using a Groupon for dinner. It's his Bday tomorrow.

I completely changed my diet about a year and a half ago, which is basically now no animal products, (except I do eat some cheese once in awhile,) and limiting myself to one 12 oz can of soda a day, instead of the two or three 20 oz bottles I used to drink in a day.

I feel so much better and healthier now then I did a year ago, and I have much more energy.

I want to wish you luck. I redid our diet about a year ago and while it is not perfect yet, I am seeing the results.

Tonight we had a make your own dinner night. Mom had an omlet with toast and a grapefruit. I had individual pizzas made on whole wheat sandwich thins with pepperoni, green peppers, and zucchini. I also had a yogurt and a tangerine with it.

I have been away from home since Thanksgiving, and I fly out again tomorrow, so I am making a big pot of Turkey Noodle soup for my DH while I am away.

Anyone got a great recipe?
