I just got back from the grocery and spent WAY too much money, but now I am stocked up with yummy healthy foods. It was so expensive because I needed stuff that I won't buy every week (like for my trail mixes) and it was a LOT of vegetables/fruit. Eating healthy costs too much money hah!

Here we go on another week already! I'll be baking cookies for the next several days this week and getting my holiday treat gift platters ready to go and delivered this weekend. Today I am making final decisions on what I am putting on the trays and trying to do a variety of favorites but include a new treat as well. Friends have already sent us dozens of tamales and we've been eating them since Thanksgiving, so I feel like I am already way behind on my holiday treat making! Oreo truffles, peanut brittle, buckeyes, pretzel turtles, chocolate oatmeal no bakes, iced sugar cookies, gingerbread men and stained glass window cookies are the standards. Now the tough part is in narrowing down my selection to only a few more treats. I've done Texas Trash (hot and spicy chex mix), puppy chow (chex with chocolate covered in powdered sugar), seasoned oyster crackers (garlic and ranch), spiced nuts, sugared nuts, fudge, pb fudge, caramel corn, chocolate covered pb ritz sandwiches, and chocolate chip cookies. I was thinking about trying maybe peppermint bark this year or cinnamon red hot bark type candy. I tried toffee last year and divinity the year before and they were both edible but didn't turn out well enough for giving away. Ideas??? Suggestions and recipes are welcomed for your favorites. I love trying new recipes.

Sun - yesterday we had leftovers I brought home from work. A friend and I split Chinese take out at lunch, so for dinner we had leftover orange peel chicken, garlic green beans, and rice.
Mon - barbecued meatballs, buttered and parsley noodles, spinach salad
Tues - chicken and rice, fruit salad
Weds - homemade pizza, cheese and basil for me, sausage and mushroom for my husband
Thurs - chicken tortilla soup, sliced avocado, tortilla chips
Fri- leftovers
Sat -grilled cheese and jalapeno stuffed burgers on buns, ranchero beans

Good for you for changing your lifestyle and eating habits for the healthier! I am trying to do the same thing and eliminate processed foods and go back to eating like my grandparents did. It's really hard when you have grown up with and been raised on Doritos, canned soups, hot dogs, lunch meats, and convenience foods and boxed dinners. Keep us posted of your progress and efforts as many of us here struggle with the same issues and battles every day. I love food, but I also tend to love the wrong choices like soda too.

I was reading yesterday and 1 of the top diet and exercise gurus said it was okay to have 1 indulgent meal a week. Not a whole day of indulgence mind you, just the one meal, so let chicken spaghetti be your meal this week and enjoy! Let me find the article and link it:http://shine.yahoo.com/the-thread/celebrity-trainer-tips-to-avoid-the-pounds.html

This week we have a few cookie swaps so we will be baking a lot.

Last night we had chicken
Tonight a meatloaf
Wednesdaywill be chicken noodle soup
Thursday will be pork
