Charming, keeping your grandmother in my thoughts.

Yesterday was grocery day and we made individual pizzas.

Today: cornmeal crusted tilapia, baked corn on the cob, slaw, hushpuppies
Sunday: smothered baked pork chops, wild rice, butter peas, fruit
Monday: meatball subs, ranch pasta salad, honeydew
Tuesday: leftover pork chops
Wednesday: leftover meatball subs
Thursday: BLTAs, chips and dip, pickles, and fruit
 
Just back from the market:

Sunday: chicken, peppers and pasta (cook extra pasta and chicken for later in week)
Monday: burgers, corn on cob, cucumber/onion salad and macaroni salad,
Tuesday: chicken ceasar salads, ice cream brownie sundaes
Tuesday evening entertaining coworkers: cheese plate, shrimp/horseradish spread, melba toast/crackers, fruit kabobs, peach wine and champers with fresh peaches
Wed: London broil, potatoes and green beans, grilled peaches
Thurs: grilled adobo pork chops, rice, salad
Friday/Saturday: traveling with hubby for work- dinner on the company both nights! Woot!


Breakfasts: homemade granola bars, fruit salad and Greek yogurt, bacon, egg and cheese muffin cups.
Lunches: picked up some turkey and cheese, will make some chic salad on Monday night, cottage cheese and melon, leftover mac salad

Kids playdates: I'm going thru a TON of food each week for snacks for my kids and their friends! This week: making double batch of brownies, popcorn balls, and I bought that massive bag of cheese balls from the grocery, and I have the fixin's for rice crispy treats and s'mores. I generally don't buy prepackaged snacks (like granola bars or cookies) but that giant bag of cheese balls was just too easy and with kids expected almost everyday it will disappear in a flash!

Thanks for all the good thoughts. They moved my grandma to her own room today and she sounds a lot better.

Friday I worked late so we had Jersey Mikes subs for dinner
Last night we had spaghetti with meatballs and salad
Tonight we had Cincinnati chili over baked potatoes

This week we should be able to get back on track with eating at home. It is so expensive to eat out so much but it saved my sanity.

So, I got a market assessment on the house and it was much higher then I thought it would be. Next step is to contact the realtor to get a realistic selling price to have for the courts (so they don't say I under sold later on). So things are moving but not nearly as fast as I would like.

I also got a new car yesterday! 2014 Subaru Forester. It was one of the things my mom requested I do with any money I got (trade in the two cars we had for one new one). Super excited!

And today I finished my meal list for next week so I could do my grocery list (farmer's market tomorrow). I also have moved things around this week because I skipped a couple dinners (ate a late lunch and wasn't hungry).

Tonight: Italian Style Meatloaf, Green Beans, Mashed Potatoes
Saturday: Vegetable Fried Rice
Sunday: Penne and Shrimp in Tomato Cream Sauce, Bread
Monday: Roasted Beet and Goat Cheese Salad, Bread
Tuesday: Vegetable Fajitas, Mexican Rice
Wednesday: White Chicken Chili with Corn Bread Crust
Thursday: Pork Chops with a Mushroom Paprika Sauce, Egg Noodles
Friday: BBQ Chicken Thighs, Sweet Potato Salad
Saturday: Cajun Tilapia, Roasted Squash, Asparagus
Sunday: Slow Cooker Chicken Tikka Masala, Rice, Steamed Broccoli
 

This last week has been rough. My grandma is doing better, she has had a few rough days though. I worked two ten hour days, but we only ate out once.

Tonight we are having blts with pretzels and fruit.
 
Tonight we had BLTA, deviled eggs, and cantaloupe.
Tomorrow and Monday will be beef and broccoli, fried rice, and crab rangoon.
Tuesday is bratwurst, mac and cheese, and cucumber salad.
Wednesday is pay day, so I'll pick something up for that day and Thursday then Friday it'll be back to the grocery store.
 
Well, I missed posting last week:( I made three different dishes, which two were hits and one had mixed reviews. I was very proud of myself. I couldn't seem to get my act together yesterday before the store, but hopefully I will have enough for the week. Here we go:

Monday - Shrimp caprese, watermelon, bread
Tuesday - Finally found a pork roast recipe, pork roast with onions and apples, its for the oven but I am going to try the crock pot, mashed potatoes, broccoli casserole
Wednesday - Chicken with quiona, salad
Thursday - shrimp creole packets, bread
Friday - not sure, maybe manicotti (again!, a fave around our house)
Saturday - too far to think!

My menu for the week

Monday we had grilled chicken with oven roasted potatoes and leftover summer squash
Tuesday will be butter beef with noodles and salad
Wednesday will be spaghetti with homemade turkey meatballs and salad
Thursday will be chili cheese dogs with chips and fruit
Friday will be chicken pot pie
Saturday and Sunday we will be out of town.
 
New to this but with our trip around the corner need to save up more spending money!

Mon( last night)- Chinese wings, fried rice
Tue- French dip Sammy's & salad & onion rings
Wed- zatarans black eyed peas & rice with sausage & cornbread
Thurs- taco salad & taquitos
Fri- pizza night probably store brand pre made deli pizza
Sat- hot dogs & chips
Sun- ribs, Mac & cheese, baked beans

Next week

Mon- fish Sammy's & tater wedges, salad
Tue- parm pork chops, roasted potatoes, corn
Wed- meatloaf, mash potatoes, green beans
Thursday- will get groceries for next two weeks...

Whew! I'm finally back!

We left BC June 23rd and have been homeless since this past weekend.

We drove from the west coast (thru the states) to Ontario and stayed with family until we found a place to rent in the GTA (greater Toronto area) and are happily installed in a beautiful, brand new townhouse!

Anyway, after shopping like a maniac (replenishing EVERYTHING from your fridge, freezer and pantry is exhausting...not to mention costly) we now have the wherewithall to make and stick to a meal plan.

Beginning with yesterday:

Monday-Grilled cheese sammies and homemade broccoli cheddar soup
Tuesday-Homemade Chicken Tetrazzini
Wed-Homemade Beef Stroganoff
Thurs-Chicken souvlaki with rice
Fri-Out of Town to visit family
Sat-still out of town
Sun-subs and chips if we are back in time for dinner
Mon-Tacos
Tues-Ham and potatoes
Wed-leftovers
Thurs-Homemade chicken fingers and fries
Fri-spaghetti and garlic toast
Sat-Burgers and homemade potato salad
Sun-Butter chicken with rice
 
I have finally finished my summer Chemistry class and am doing my Nursing Assistant Clinicals at a nursing home this week. Whew! Tonight I am making a chicken, carrot, and sugar snap pea subgum of sorts.
 
Well we have 17 days until vacation not a disney trip :( but a very nice vacation to the cape cod for 4 days so no more eating out until the trip

Tonight is hot dogs and pasta salad
Tomorrow night chicken something
Saturday pancakes and bacon yum

Last night I made empanadas. Would have ben easier with a tortilla press, but the kid loved them and it was different than just taco night.

Today will be London broil. Maybe into steak sandwiches? Or maybe just straight Lonon Broil. With zucchini of some kind. (mayb pancakes?)

Friday will be spaghetti and meatballs ith homemade pasta. A new adventure! Hey if I can make empanadas I can make pasta.

Thursday: Not 100% sure about tonight-- maybe chicken and potatoes with a veggie.
 
Been doing pretty bad this week. I have not been feeling well for about a month now. Have what feels like a constant UTI but nothing shows on the tests. Yesterday I was in so much pain that I ended up at the ER and got some pain meds. Tomorrow I have an appointment with Women's Health at the Health Department and will see what happens from there. Luckily the pain meds do seem to help but I don't like how they make me feel in general. Worth it though.

So cooking has been on the back burner and I will most likely eat leftovers tonight. Got a whole chicken and sides from Fresh Market yesterday after going to the pharmacy.
 
Last night I used a new Cilantro and Lime Marinade on my chicken... Everyone liked it and I think it would awesome on fish for fish tacos. But I am the I only one who will eat fish tacos...

Tonight is chicken sausage, cucumbers fro
The garden, beans from the garden and pasta salad.

Friday - Black bean burgers and sweet potatoes
Saturday - Brats on the grill, mac and cheese, grilled red peppers and onions
Sunday - Grilled steaks, corn on the cob and squash casserole
Monday - leftovers
Tuesday - Roast over egg noodles with green beans
Wednesday - Tacos / Taco salad
Thursday - Beef sandwiches (leftover roast) and baked beans
Friday - Burgers, homemade baked fries and cucumber salad

Tomorrow night we are having Bangers and Mash...
