Easy to Please Thread?

Out of all the resturants at Disney I have never eaten at those 3. Sorry I can't be of help. My friend did eat at Biergarten and said the food was a little too different for her Texas family to really get into. Not bad just not what they were comfortable with. She did say the entertainment was worth it.

Well, we're from Ohio (even though I'm in exhile in Georgia at the moment...and for the last 12 years), which is very German (my Friend & I are both of partial German extraction). I remember my first year in Georgia, it was very difficult for me to find decent sauerkraut for New Years day (they all eat blackeyed peas and greens down here)! And they don't even serve Brauts at football games! Quite barbaric.

Thanks for the info, bangzoom6877! Actually, we'll be trying the Cape May buffet too! I'm sorry you have to miss good seafood because of your son's allergies. Luckily, neither I nor my friend are allergic to anything, foodwise (well, except for my allergy to aspertame).

My biggest issue is that I had gastric bipass 2 years ago. I refuse to eat off the children's menu (what fun is that). So whomever I eat with is mightily tempted into over-indulging.

Friend: That looks good, too.
Me: Oh here, try some!
Friend: That's ok, I couldn't...
Me: It would be a shame to let it go to waste...

This thread makes me really happy. I am sometimes baffled by stuff I hear about Disney food... I actually heard someone complain about celery being too stringy! Can you imagine?! If the consistency of your already stringy vegetable is going to bring down your vacation, why are you at the happiest place on Earth?!

I, myself, just want plenty of Diet Coke refills and I'm a happy camper. Do I like great service? Of course! But I'm not going to blow a gasket if my server isn't all over me like white on rice!

My personal pet peeve is people complaining about situations that they KNOW - going in - are part of an establishment. You especially see this for WCC & 50's PTC. AND THEN they actually say "don't go here". I hate it when anyone tells me not to go someplace. As if their personal judgement is all I need. I don't know them - and based on their snippy attitude, I doubt I'll agree with their opinion on pretty much anything.

How annoying is it when you read a thread where someone is asking something specific about a restaurant that they've already - obviously - researched and decided to go to, even made an ADR, and instead of merely answering their question, a poster completely ignores the question and says "Don't go there, it sucks, go to this other restaurant because I - with my far greater judgement and wisdom - have decided that it is better"? It makes me want to cancel any ADR I might have at the restaurant that they recommend (and - strangely - I rarely have an ADR at such a place) and immediately make one at the restaurant they said I should not be stupid enough to go to. I'm contrary that way.

I admit, it's small and petty of me, but there is one restaurant that I have avoided BECAUSE so many of the people who figuratively spit all over the tacky restaurants I enjoy most have recommended it! I know, it's not fair of me, but I'm sure they're doing very well without my low-brow pressence.

There are a few restaurants I've wondered about, that we're trying this time for the first time. I just haven't wanted to ask because I didn't want an avalanche of negativism.

I personally don't like overly fancy or trendy restaurants (if the design of the food on the plate is a big concern for them, I start to get nervous about my table manners), and my friend rarely gets to eat out, and when she does it's Bob Evans. So - how are we going to do at Narcoossee's? I've avoided the signature dining (this is the only one), and only picked this because my friend really likes seafood (shellfish, specifically).

Also, how about Chefs de France? My friend has always wanted to eat in a French Restaurant. I'm more of a Biergarten kind of girl, myself.

Even though you're a Buckeyes fan (GO BLUE!) , I will grace you with my knowledge of Narcoossee's (b/c obviously I have great taste (see above)).
I took my then 7 year old daughter there last year and we LOVED IT. Not only was the food wonderful (surf and turf--how can you go wrong?-and the almond cheesecake was probably one of the best desserts I have ever had), but we watched Wishes from the balcony outside. It was our last night there and I'll always remember and cherish that moment. We're going back this year in November and we made a reservation for Narcoossee's--we can't wait!
Chefs de France--we are going there in November also--I have always wanted to go there as well. I love me some escargot!

I took my then 7 year old daughter there last year and we LOVED IT. we watched Wishes from the balcony outside. It was our last night there and I'll always remember and cherish that moment.

That is so sweet! I bet your daughter will always think about that when she thinks of Disney. I love to hear of special moments parents make with their children at Disney. I've seen so many parents really push kids to the point of meltdowns and I love it when you can slow down and enjoy spending time with your child.

I admit, some perfectly nice people like this place too. I was just being childish and petty when I made my ADRs.

But multigrain pancakes? Sustainable Fish? Vegaterian Cuban? I feel so unworthy.

I completely understand what you are talking about...we may not have been crazy about WCC, but we knew going in that it would be loud in there. The noise didn't bother us, we just thought that there could have been a little more variety with the antics, that's all. We just found them to be a bit repetitive. The food was just fine, the service was excellent, and for about the first 30 minutes we had a lot of fun...then the antics were the same and repeated throughout the rest of the meal. So, we might have decided not to go back, but I would never tell someone not to go there. We did not find it to be horrible at all...just not our cup of tea, and it is very subjective of course. Now, 50s PT on the other hand...we loved it!! There was a lot of variety in the antics, the kids had a blast and the food was good. And once again, we knew going in there that they have the antics.

I understand about not wanting to go somewhere because of all its hype. We went to Le Cellier for dinner one night, not because of all the hype it gets here but because we all love steak and the menu looked good. We thought it was good, but definitely way over-hyped. Again, just our opinion, I know some people love it. We're not going back there on our next trip. We will try something different for steak next time, the Yachtsman. There are just some places we find unique and have to go to over again (Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace, 1900 PF breakfast, Biergarten, Chefs de France, Kouzzina, San Angel), and other places that we feel we can skip. But I have never been to a Disney restaurant or counter service location, where I would tell people it is horrendous and not to ever step foot in there. I still think the Disney food is excellent. Better than any chain restaurant I have ever been to, and you can't beat the character experience either!

I sort of feel the same way--it's one place I never think about making reservations. Although, I will make them at Cali Grill, Narcoossee's, Jiko, and this time--Yachtsman. Strange.

It's funny, she pretty much had to force me outside--it had been a long day, and I just wanted to sit and eat. I'm so glad she did, though!
