Easy to Please Thread?

Me and DH belong here too! We love lots of places that others don't and there is probably only one place we wouldn't return to. I hate reading a dining review and the whole thing being negative......" I wish this would have been a little that" and so on.... You all know what I mean. But for DH and I Ragland Road is a must do for us, and we loved Kouzzina, 'Ohana is another must do, it is by far our favorite and I have read numerous reports of people feeling rushed. Do they not read that it is served "FAMILY STYLE"???? Mom isn't going to cook you three courses for your family and bring them out one at a time! You get everything except dessert all at once! We don't really like the buffets for anything other than the character interaction, but let's be realistic that is what you are paying for.

I've been thinking about what a previous poster said about how someone in line at a buffet was saying they disliked the restaurant because there weren't any french fries. It really rings true. I rarely even think about what ISN'T available - just what is.

I've witnessed people like that - and you just know some of the people writing negative reviews (or starting those completely negative threads that PP mentioned) are among them.

Has anyone else ever been extra nice to their server (or even tipped them more) because another diner - at another table - was being a complete jerk? (And you know that jerk talked about how bad service was, when as an objective - and reluctant - observer, THEY were being the unreasonable jerk!) :sad2:

I know I've majorly upped my tip when people I've dined with (co-workers) were jerks.

So I am An Easy To
Pleaser from here on out! And thanks a million to OP. I was getting depressed from all the negativity!

I'm with you! :cool1:

You know, I come here to have a Disney Fix when I want to talk about WDW - but very often end up depressed because there are so many negative people around! I'm not saying everyone has to wear rose-colored glasses, or be OK with everything the Walt Disney Company/Corporation does. But come on - can't we just be happy, just a little bit?
:confused3

After lurking for a long time, I finally registered and was so excited to talk Disney with other addicts. But, the then negative threads seemed to multiply. For a while I didn't even post much because well, it seemed like there wasn't much to post about unless it was taking at shot at something.

I do think Disney has changed a little in the past few years but, I wouldn't call it going down hill. I still love it, it makes me happy, if I've had a bad CM experience, I don't remember it. Maybe I'm too probably being too happy and pleasant to notice?

I find it humorous that this board almost seems divided by those who hate the dining plan and free dining and those who live for it and always counting the days until it was announced. And of course those who say free dining isn't free. We booked bounceback for free dining so, I wasn't one of those people but, I frequently hung out on the free dining watch threads for the entertainment and to offer my support. Whatever promotion makes people happy and works for them. We're lucky to have any of these promotions.

I agree about negativity. And I actually tend to often avoid the restaurants board because it seems to be the most negative, with the people who are continually posting about how free dining is responsible for the decline of the western world. It reminds me of something I read on the disboards a few months ago where a poster was complaining that they didn't want to go to WDW now that Disney offers discounts because the parks are crowded with "riff-raff". We love Disney in every way, including the awesome restaurants. I guess that makes us easy to please.

I haven't read thru all of the posts but I'm right there with you for the most part, OP. Although I do still read the reviews, I feel a lot of people must be way harder to please than DH and myself. I try to read between the lines of the reviews though, as some have said too. I like when someone describes WHY a particular restaurant wasn't good to them. It really helps when they give specifics as opposed to just saying, "It was gross!" I won't go into specifics here but the only restaurant I won't be rushing back to is Tony's. It was okay though, just not really what I'm used to for Italian food.

Not pertaining to Disney per se, but my father-in-law is one of those people I hate going to a restaurant with. He is so hard to please with everything! The server takes too long to bring the drinks, the food takes too long to come out, one tiny thing is different from the list he gave the server as to how he wanted something, the server is away from our table too long, they're checking on us too much, etc, etc, etc....you all know the type I'm sure! Needless to say, we really don't go out to eat with them much. ;)

Oh, and I also think some of the Dining Reports on here are funny. I could, but will not, mention a particular display name. But when I read thru this person's Dining Report, I was so amused. It pretty much went like this: This was bad, that was gross, this was cold, that was too sweet, oh this was fantastic, but that was disgusting. Pretty much their entire report went like that. I so wanted to ask, "Why do you even eat at Disney World!?!?!?" The even funnier thing was that you could tell from their signature that this wasn't their first report...and they seemed very aquainted with all the places they were eating. Just too funny!

That brings up an interesting point. I don't know if it's my tolerance, ignorance, or obliviousness - but that's actually not a consideration for me. I've actually enjoyed plenty of food that isn't remotely authentic. Of course, I can see if someone is really wanting a certain kind of food, and then not getting it, they might not be happy.

I went to Tony's this last trip. I'll be going there this next trip (already have the ADR). I couldn't tell you what I had. I remember we had a male waiter (strange thing to remember). I have a wonderful picture of my godson in the remains of his pirate costume (he had done the Pirate League that morning, and most of the removable portions of his costume had long since taken up residence in my bag) with a huge glass of chocolate milk beside the kids menu he was working on, and his tongue sticking out slightly between his teeth as he concentrated. Strange, that makes me think fondly of Tony's.

I never claimed to be a slave to logic. :lmao:

We're also going back to Liberty Tree Tavern, where my goddaughter once asked me if I lived in a house like that when I was a little girl. And yet, I'm still going back. :hippie:

Okay, maybe I was trying to be nice here. Also, I didn't want to take a lot of space to explain it. We just didn't like Tony's very much, period. To each his own though, definitely! To clarify, I didn't like the sauce used on my chicken parm and I didn't like the noodles with the dish either (too mushy and too many in relation to the amount of sauce given). The tiramisu wasn't very good either IMO. I can say the chicken breast in the dish was very good and the bread provided before the meal was also pretty good. And I'm not saying I'd never go back. It just wouldn't be my preference given all the other great restaurants around and the ones we haven't tried yet.

I see what you're saying though about something not needing to be "authentic" to the cuisine (Italian, Chinese, etc.) as along as the food itself is good. This just wasn't the case with Tony's. I probably should have thought more about what I was saying before I typed it out. :thumbsup2

Well - if you really want something, are really craving something, I can see where it might be disappointing.

I remember when I was studying in Mexico, about 6 weeks in, we were dieing for something - ANYTHING - with a different flavor profile. We went to an "Italian" restaurant, but it tasted Mexican, too! We were so disappointed (and the food wasn't bad at all - it just didn't taste like our idea of Italian). We finally got our fix (for something different) by going to a McDonalds. :rotfl:

Add me to the easy to please list :) I've been to Disney world at least once a year since I was 8 months old, and can honestly say I've never had a truly bad meal. I've had some that weren't fantastic, but definitely still edible. There are a couple of places I would rather not go...so I don't. For example, the only thing that would ever make me go back to Chef Mickey's would be having children of my own who wanted to go for the characters...but I'm sure if I do make it back there one day I could find something to eat. To some extent I agree that there has been a decline in dining at Disney. I mean, there are things that I miss. I really wish 'Ohana still had their old menu, but I still go there every trip...so obviously it hasn't affected me too badly:rotfl: I think the thing that amazes me the most is that the loudest complaints come from people who haven't been on all that many trips. I'm getting ready to go on trip #28, and for the most part...I've never experienced any of the things most people complain about:confused3 And I'm perfectly happy to be the "riff raff" filling up the parks. I went last September with my family and stayed at CR...but this year I'm going with my best friend. Staying at POP with FREE DINING. Can't wait to contribute to the decline of Disney :lmao::rotfl::lmao:

We are an easy to please family too! Just happy to be at the parks! Don't mind making ADRs 180 days
out, as we just consider our meals another "attraction" in the park we are in. I am always amazed at
how good Disney is at accomodating all of its guests. Considering the number of people
a restaurant at WDW serves each day... the food and service is pretty darn good!

I will add us as well! We are very easy to please and we've never had a bad meal at Disney. We love Sci-Fi and Liberty Tree Tavern...Le Cellier was one of the best meal we had at Disney and the service was great. I am not a picky eater, and I love heatlhy, real food.

I'm also a sugar junkie!:lmao:

The best cake I ever had - and one of the best things I ever put in my mouth - I had at WDW back in 2006! I ordered a cake (at Spoodles, I think) for my friend who was just back from Kuwait (a welcome home cake, with an American flag drawn on top) - chocolate with chocolate inside and chocolate icing - it was incredible! :worship:

And the best alcoholic substance I've ever had (and I've had it on the last two trips - and plan on having several this trip too) was the Grand Marnier slushy at Epcot, France! I hear the lemon one is pretty good too. :cloud9:

Now, if you asked me to tell you what I've had that wasn't very good, I couldn't tell you. I just tend to remember the good things.

Hmmm...maybe this time I should write down what I have and do an Easily Pleased WDW Dining Review. Of course, I'm more likely to blame myself for anything I don't like, instead of the food! When I don't like something, I tend to think "I didn't like that" not "that isn't good - I need to go spread the word and tell complete strangers to NEVER GO TO THAT RESTAURANT AGAIN!!!" But that's just me - I'm quarky that way. :lmao:

yeah i have to say that i didnt have a issue with any of the sit downs we went to on our trip mind u they were all buffets (CM, CP, Donalds Brekfast a soarus and Ohana brekfast)

what a great upbeat topic. thanks to the OP. i would classify us as easy to please- but also picky eaters. i dont like sauces or gravy on my meals. i have never been disappointed in a meal at disney. i have gotten sick once. but i blame the heat and trying to eat too much food. learned not to eat lunch at Le Cellier in 98 heat. but that was my fault not the restaurants. and this may sound queer but both of us can't wait to get those ham and cheese croissants from the France counter service(i cant spell it ). we love them and actually plan on getting them a few times our next trip.

Maybe it is all in the mindset. For some people, if things don't go perfectly - as THEY WANT them to go - they blame the restaurant.

Last trip, I got sick after eating at the Lotus Blossom QS - but I had no reason to believe it had anything to do with the food. I still don't. I had left my godson at Neverland Kids Club so that I could get some Christmas shopping done at Epcot (he - like most 7 year olds - HATES shopping) - which turned out to be a highlight of his trip, btw - and was running around, ate way too fast (something that tends to make me sick).

Would I eat there again? Probably. I have no reason not too. And I'm certainly not going to tell people not to eat there because of it. Sure, it's middling Chinese take-out quality food (from what I could tell) - but some people like Chinese take-out quality food (like me!).

I think that many posters bring up most of the points as to why people complain about the food. I agree that being in Disney is the most important thing and the food is secondary. However I do seem to agree with those who have said the prices are high and that often leads to a greater expectation. When you have a family of 4 adults (2 teens, but eat from the adult menu) eating at TS resturants, $100 lunches and $150 dinners or more are easy to do. We often split dishes which works out well. However when you are spending a lot of money I think people want to feel as though the food was worth the price regardless of were they are. Sometimes I think the TS resturants fall short in this areas. I think the CS places although still pricey are sometimes a better value for the dollar. With that being said we have never received bad service and have always enjoyed our meal if only for the time we spent together as a family. There are a couple of places that I know we wouldn't ever go back, but many more places we must visit everytime. I don't know if I would say we are easy to please in regards to food, but I know for certain we love Disney and just being there makes us happy, the food in the end is just food. :goodvibes

I think the point I was trying to make when I started this thread was that - for whatever reasons - my expectations for those meals are such that I'm easy to please. I know it's expensive going in - though I usually have the dining plan, or I don't eat in many restaurants. Maybe the same pasta dish that would make me go "Wow! Look at all that shrimp! And someone stop me before I eat too much!" would make a more exacting person complain that it was not authentic, over-seasoned, poorly garnished, etc.

I'm not saying I should be SO thrilled just to be at WDW that I should eat a crappy meal with a smile. I'm saying that I don't consider them crappy. And on the few occassions I've gotten something I didn't like, I assumed it was because *I* had ordered the wrong thing, and that plenty of other people would like it just fine - it just wasn't MY cup of tea. I'm not going to blame the restaurant for THAT!

So - easy to please means when I order a $50 meal, I tend to think I got a $50 meal. Maybe someone else might price it at $19.37 and feel cheated - but they're not obscenely easy to please like I am!
