Easy to Please Thread?

Never sent anything back because it wasn't to my liking, enjoyed just about every restaurant and everything I've ordered, some more than others. My only complaint, and it's not a big one really, is that the Coral Reef was a bit loud to my ears, probably because of the tanks, and the service was pretty slow...other than that, we all loved our dinners there. Catalina Eddie's in DHS was a bit meh, the pizza wasn't terrible it just wasn't the best thing ever. Can't wait to have dinner at Sci-Fi despite the mediocre reviews because we're happy just being at WDW and on vacation, plus, we'll more than likely enjoy it very much.

You know, I have to admit - I'm thrown by people who have very percise expectations about the dishs they order. For me, it's mostly "oh - this should have chicken in it". I know if something tastes bad, of course. But I rarely judge something because it doesn't taste a certain way.

Some of my favorite foods are some of the most basic. I like good bread. Yum. Or most kinds of potatoes (Weird Al's "Addicted to Spuds" is now going through my head). Most things with cheese. Meat prepared very simply (broiled fish, pork cooked slow & low). A good meatball (swedish or italian).

I don't know if he's ever done it, but if Guy F ever did Disney, I wonder what he'd like.

Guy did a DL food special that aired on Food Network last winter (I think it was a Christmas special?). I set the DVR to record it but, then I accidently deleted it and didn't know until it was too late. :sad2:

I'm loving this thread BTW. It's getting me all excited again for my upcoming trip! It's nice to know we're not the only simple folk out there who love our Disney restaurants.:grouphug:

He actually did (kinda)...he did a holiday special @ Disneyland.

I agree...I would like to see him do Disney World...I'd even settle for Rachel Ray dining on vacation show (do not remember for the life of me what her vacation shows are called...and not sure she even does them anymore).

I love this thread..:thumbsup2 apparently, I belong here, because I've never had an awful meal at WDW.

What blows my mind is the people out there who think that just because they paid for something, they could push people around. It happens all the time in restaurants, at WDW theme parks, and in the rest of the world too. I worked as a waitress in college and got treated well by some customers, and horribly by others whose words always had to do with the fact that they are paying for something.

I think a lot of people go more by price than by what the food actually tastes like. I see many reviews that comment on how expensive food is at Disney, and then they say that the food was inedible, disgusting, horrible, etc. I wonder how the same people would review a restaurant if they didn't have to pay for it...if someone just put the same dish in front of them and said, "Taste this and tell me what you think" but there was no bill attached to it. I bet so many of them would view things differently. Some people don't like anything that costs money, and others, like myself, understand that this is a vacation and we know how to have fun (even while waiting for a torrential rain storm to stop, while standing outside at the Magic Kingdom )!

I also think there are just people who aren't happy in life unless they're complaining. And I've been out to eat with people who seem to get some sort of thrill out of finding some small thing to blow up and complain about (somehow, I always get stuck traveling with these people for work). It makes me uncomfortable, and I tend to avoid sharing meals with them, if at all possible. But - I sometimes think THEY think they're impressing the people eating with them.

I think I remember those meals as horrible too - but because I had an uncomfortable experience, not because I even remember the food.

Let's go out, have a Bloomin' Onion & a couple margaritas, and a lot of laughs - and I'll remember it as one of the best meals I ever had - even if I don't remember what else I had. (I LOVE that horseradish sauce they have with those things...but I digress...)

We're easy to please too!! We love and appreciate lots of different foods though...everything from burgers and fries, to a good chicken dish, to filet mignon and lobster! As for dessert, we love the simpler things like plain ice cream, but also appreciate a good creme brulee or a nice hunk of delicious chocolate cake.

We ate a some places that get some terrible reviews, but wanted to judge for ourselves. We loved Chef Mickey's dinner and will be back on the next trip, loved San Angel for lunch and will be back on the next trip, loved dinner at the castle, and loved Sci-Fi for lunch. We don't go to WDW expecting 5-star gourmet fancy food (unless maybe we were ot go to V&A's), we just expect it to taste good and to have a great time. That happens every time!!

On the other hand, while we thought the food at Le Cellier was good, I don't see all the hype it gets. Still good though...just nothing special in my opinion.

I could have written this! (though with different restaurants in it)

We had the best meals last time we went. Everything was very good to excellent. In fact, our worst meal was Le Cellier. I mean, it was good... but not as good as you would think from the hype. So, we just won't go back because there are better places that cost less.

I LOVE food. I love to cook and eat. I love to try new things, but I also sometimes just want a big ol burger. There are very few foods I do not like (calves liver and chicken livers for example... though I love chicken liver pate :confused3 ) and I am willing to try everything at least twice (just in case the first try was just badly prepared). I have had escargot and the BEST duck EVER in Paris, the best fish and chips in London, the tastiest French Onion Soup and Filet in Wisconsin, and the most delicious biscuits and gravy in Tennessee.

All this talk and now I want to try and squeeze in Sci Fi Diner for lunch for a burger, onion rings, and shake!

How bad can things really be when we're talking about how things are on our Disney vacations? Seriously, I would like people to get some perspective and enjoy life!

I couldn't agree more! I said to DH the other day, that sometimes I think to myself that all our problems would be completely solved if we hit the lottery...then I think to myself, we are pretty darn lucky. We have 2 wonderful healthy and happy sons, we have good teaching jobs in NYC (as secure as it gets these days), we're healthy, we're homeowners, and we do a lot of wonderful things together as a family. What more can we ask for?

This is pretty similar to my own eating style. I don't consider myself to have simple tastes, because I love unusual and creative gourmet food. I really enjoy eating at five star restaurants (when I can afford to) tasting new things and seeing what the chefs come up with. At the same time, I love roadside BBQ, a good cheeseburger and shake, and what is generally termed 'soul food'. Basically, I just love food... so maybe that's what makes me easy to please when it comes to restaurants. Unless it's completely inedible, it's hard to go wrong with me.

YES! We know some people who are exactly like that (in our family- a specific in-law comes to mind) and it's so annoying So we can't exactly avoid this person, so before we go out with her we'll say to each other, ok, what will so-and-so complain about this time?

im another easy pleaser! Me and DF love good food! DF is a little less adventurous than me but wherever we go in WDW we have always enjoyed our food- all except the CS in Japan! I always wondered whether because we come from the UK that we are more easily pleased. We are not used to such gigantic portions and so we seem to think its pretty good value for money in WDW thus making the experience that more enjoyable!

When reading the reviews on here I try to remember that its easier to complain than to compliment!

I was just looking over (ok, drooling over) the menus on my WDW Menu app on my iPhone - looking at the places I have ADRs for. I'm trying a bunch of new places this time (since we have the Deluxe Dining plan, and my friend wants to try new things), and I realize I tend to get the same things often. For instance, at the SciFi Drive In - I realize I've gotten their Reuben the last few times I've gone. But I love a good Reuben, and their Reuben was pretty good. :goodvibes

And has anyone (in this EZ to Please section) had the Turkey leg at the Magic Kingdom? Yes, I've been there probably 20 times over 10 trips to WDW, and I've never had one. It looks like it might be kind of tough - is it worth trying, once? Just for the shared experience? :scratchin

My entire family, and especially including me, is comprised of food snobs, but we are also extremely reasonable and understand where we are, what we are ordering and what we are getting, and can therefore adjust our expectations accordingly when at WDW. Therefore, I'd put us in the easy to please category.

I've eaten at the vast majority of TS restaurants at WDW and the only place that genuinely turned me off was WCC. It was just so disappointingly bad, with such odd service (not the schtick, which we did find tired but can understand the appeal, but we just had a very odd server) and such poor food quality that I just don't see why I'd return, given that every other place at WDW has pleased us, or at least not disappointed us.

If I want a Michelin star experience, and don't want to dine at V&A's every night, then I know better than to vacation at WDW. We eat extremely well, but it's the full experience that we are there for, and they almost never fail us (or, have only failed us once; see WCC comments above).

I am easy to please, but I just can't do that turkey leg. I know it's from the smoking, but I can't get over the fact that it's all red/pink inside (even though I like my steak pretty rare - it just bugs me)!

EastonCat, I have to say that I agree with everything you've posted in this thread! :thumbsup2

I am a "foodie", I guess. I am one of those people who loves to learn about food, loves to peruse a menu for a good long time before deciding what I want, I love to try new recipes and explore new food trends, and I'm also a chef "wannabe". That being said... I have never had a bad experience at Disney!

I think it all comes down to expectations. If I go to a 5 star restaurant in my community (we have ONE!:worship:) I expect 5 star food... and they never fail to impress. If I go to Cracker Barrel, I expect to get yummy breakfast food or really good mashed potatoes (my choice at CB). If I get bad food, yes, I will send it back. I don't EVER mistreat a server (I, myself, worked as a server when I was young and it is a very tough job!). I tip well and I give lavish praise when deserved. I never leave without tipping, even if the food was not good (it's not the servers fault in almost all cases).

HOWEVER... when I visit Disney, I am there for lots of other reasons. It's a vacation that is so eagerly anticipated and planned to the nth degree! I don't expect to have gourmet food, but I do expect to have the food that is represented in the menu. I have never been seriously disappointed. And as other posters have noted, if I have been disappointed, it's usually because I veered off of what I know I like, and have tried something new, not something to blame the restaurant about.

It does bother me that so many people are so critical, but I do think that it's a mindset that these same people probably carry over to every part of their lives. And I feel bad for them... attitude is such a huge part of happiness and I can't imagine going through life disappointed all of the time. And ESPECIALLY at Disney!!!:headache:

I'm trying some of the places that have gotten bad reviews, on our next trip in Feb. We will go to WCC, Chef Mickey's, CRT, etc... And I'll bet that we'll have a FANTASTIC time!!:yay::yay:

We are a family of Easy to Please as far as eating is concerned. We've eaten in places that others have found to be awful and we liked it. We don't usually choose on reviews, but rather the type of food we like to eat.

But I have to say, I will complain about poor service. If you are employed in a service oriented field, I feel as though you need to treat all your customers politely, the new table you are serving is not responsible for the jerk at the last table you served, and they need to be treated properly. We've experienced poor service at home as well as at Disney. I waited tables in HS and in college, and yes I've had horrible customers, but I encountered each table as a new experience (or at least I hope I did, so if I mistreated anyone in my service, I'm sorry....), so I guess I kind of expect to be treated well as a customer. I come to a table as a customer happy and ready to enjoy my meal and the service can certainly set the tone.

You know, I don't think I really consider how good the food is (necessarily) in how well I like a restaurant. I mean, it's rare that I don't like any part of what I get. OK, so I didn't like the chicken on the skillet at WCC - but the ribs were ok, and as bad as it is for me to admit (oh, the carbs!) - you just can't go wrong when you have decent cornbread and mashed potatoes! Seriously - if I have good cornbread & mashed potatoes, I can forgive just about any injustice done to the meat! :hippie:

Maybe it's a glass-half-full kind of thing. For some people, one poorly prepared item can ruin the whole meal. How often do we read "my steak was like leather - I'll never go back again - and NEITHER SHOULD YOU!!!" For me, one good thing can make it. Whether it's good cornbread, or a really cool drink (I just love those glow-cubes...I have quite a collection...no, I'm not 3...why do you ask?) or a wonderfully sinful dessert, or just a fun atmosphere, and I'll remember it fondly and go back again and again and again. :cloud9:

After you first started this thread yesterday I did the same thing, going through the menus of all the restaurants we'll be trying next month. I was silly with excitement! I even watched the planning DVD just to keep in the mood! Then I realized I should be getting my Mickey Mail soon. This past year (since we booked) has gone by so fast. Well, the First 5 months didn't but, since then, it's flown by!

I haven't personally tried the Turkey leg but, DBF tried one last year (his first trip to the World). He ended up having 2 during the week. He loved them.
