Easy to make Disney Costume?

I'm going to a costumed event in August and I'd love to go as a Disney character. (Possibly one of the princesses ) Unfortunately, to buy a costume in my size and shape is too expensive and since my mom knows how to sew and I'm learning as well, I thought this would be a good opportunity to make my own. But since I'm still a beginner, does anyone have any suggestions for a character for me to go as that I can easily make a costume for?

I think you would be an adorable Snow White or Belle! Does it have to be an authentic looking costume, or can it be "character inspired"? For our trips I have made character inspired sundresses for my daughter so that she can be dressed as a princess, but still comfortable. You can just take any standard easy to sew sundress pattern & adapt the colors and trims to match the princess you choose. Also, sewing with cotton is much easier for a beginner than with satin or a poly/satin fabric. Here is a sample of a snow white and queen of hearts themed sundress I made for her:

I was leaning towards more 'authentic', but I love the sundress idea! BTW, that Queen of Hearts costume is way too cute!!

I was going to suggest going to the fabric store and finding a pattern for an "easy" dress, and just get the fabrics and trims in the colors of the princess of your choice.

But, Krysta!! Those sundresses are absolutely amazing!! So simple, yet you know instantly when you look at them what they're supposed to be! I LOVE IT!! I never would have thought of that! I think I've found a new project! Thank you!!
