Eastern Caribbean, Here We Come Again…This Time on the Treasure (with photos) - May 2025 (COMPLETE)

May 14, 2025

This day brought us to St. Thomas, one of my favorites. We aren’t typically excursion people and we mostly only get off to explore the port areas and walk around a bit. I love St. Thomas because of the view from the ship with all the boats in the bay!

After Todd’s usual early wake up and walk, he got back to the room to gather a load of laundry and put it in around 7:45. We then went up to Marceline Market for breakfast while it was washing. We finally got to sit outside this morning! Since the entire trip had been very windy, we really couldn’t enjoy it on the other days.

Todd forgot to get a photo in Fairytale Fresh Laundry,
so you get to see our laundry pod container that we bring on every trip (since 2007)

We headed back to get the clothes and I put my items in the dryer. Todd doesn’t dry things, so he hung things all around our bathroom. I’m sure our stateroom host was wondering what the heck was happening. Todd opted to get off the ship and walk along the waterfront. There’s a fairly nice path that has been built/renovated in the last several years. He ended walking all the way around to the downtown area, about 4 miles round trip. He went a bit further than we walked last year. I think we did about 2 miles round trip last year, just to the edge of town. It’s a nice walk, but not a lot of shade.

A view of the ship during Todd’s walk

I stayed back on the ship and waited for the dryer to be done and went to collect my stuff and put it away. I also delivered some shirts to our friend Jenn’s family. We work at the Bucknell basketball games and this year they’d given out some Bison-themed orange and blue tropical shirts as a giveaway. I’d brought a few along for her and her family, since she’s an alum!

I then headed down to Deck 4 to sit in a lounger with my book. Typically, this is one of my favorite relaxing things to do, especially in St. Thomas with the view of the bay and the hills! However, Deck 4 on the Treasure is not the same. First of all, there are no cushions on the loungers…fail! Also, since it’s not a true promenade and the Deck 4 portion is so short, there’s no one down there. While I like the quiet, I also like to say hello and watch people walking by. There was no one around. I got kind of bored after a short while and went back to return my book to the room to head up to Deck 11 and watch some Funnel Vision and do some people watching.

My view during a portion of Todd’s walk

Todd came back and found me around 10:45. I grabbed some ice cream and we wandered around. We ended up in the Grand Hall off to the side past the stairs to kid’s clubs. The cushioned benches there were VERY comfortable; it would have been a great spot for a nap. I have no shame of taking a somewhat public nap on a cruise and this spot will be on my future list.

A morning ice cream always tastes good, especially on a Disney cruise

We ran into Robert who was waiting to meet up with Marrianne after her spa appointment. We chatted for a while and then we all went to sit-down lunch at 1923 together. We had a great seat next to a window overlooking the bay. Lunch was very good. I love the Roasted Red Pepper Arancini and the time flew by talking and laughing.

Roasted Red Pepper Arancini…yum!

After lunch, we headed to Sports Trivia at 1:45. We were hoping it would be mostly new questions, but it was the same questions we’d had already this cruise. We did get 20/20, but we did not report our score because we didn’t want to feel like we were cheating. We stayed to see if we’d remember everything. Unfortunately, we think the team that did “win” was also one we recognized from the first time. Not cool.

At 2:45, we stopped by Skipper Society for Disney Parks Trivia. We ended up sitting with Jenn and her family, which was fun. I was trying really hard to win her daughter a medallion. We ended up mixing up a few of our answers about international parks and only scored 17/20. Not enough on this cruise.

We headed to Deck 4 to watch the sail away and ran into Robert and Marrianne again! Obviously, we have a lot in common since we kept running into each other doing the same things. It started raining a bit, but not enough to stop us from standing out there.

A foggy St. Thomas near sail away time

At 5:00, we went to Sarabi to watch Villians Game Night. That was really fun to watch. It was like the old Hollywood Squares game show. The production value and effort was impressive, and Danny was an excellent host. When we left, people were already lining up (at 5:40) for the first running of the Sarabi Supper Club at 7 pm. We’d be heading to it later, so we kept walking.

We enjoyed our first Villains Game Night experience

We headed back to the room and got cleaned up for the evening. Zak Mirz (a magician) was doing a show in the Walt Disney Theatre, but we had seen him last year. We like him, but knew we’d be going to his adult show later in the trip, so we skipped it and headed to National Geographic Trivia. Guess who we ran into…Robert and Marrianne! We ended up scoring 19/20 and WE WON! Finally!! I can’t believe of all the trivias we went to, the one we finally conquered was National Geographic themed. It was pretty interesting, too! We stayed for 90’s Music Trivia, which was mostly me and Robert. Todd and Marrianne were very supportive, but not helpful. We scored 34/40, but had lots of fun!

AD_4nXffwUiThBA0rM492huCXQ-dzjo6uGa_P8l0tXoUAAnWDoQcKXKjpU7KBZMkyrlGzJSsx_ntq8YTmyJgPykg1TZgmyQwW4rvaI_-LET2C1UEIU-V8waZKDp0DTCzWGiZsJLRE2QfPQ

Our winning trivia! Unfortunately, we didn’t get photos with our medallions.

Dinner was at 1923 and was excellent. I had the pork medallions, which were good. The polenta under the pork was one of my favorite things on the cruise! We talked with our server, Suartana, about some of our servers on previous cruises. He was excited that we knew so many people that he knew. If you haven’t noticed, we try to do a good job of remembering names of people we meet and cast members that we interact with.

Our entrees at 1923

The evening’s entertainment in Sarabi consisted of the Sarabi Supper Club and Choose Wisely! An Indiana Jones Comedy Adventure with Coriander and Sage. The Sarabi Supper Club was kind of uneventful and a bit boring. I think we would have liked it better with a bit more interaction, but the singer did a nice job.

We’d heard that Choose Wisely! was a can’t-miss event, and it was totally worth the hype! Sage and Coriander were fantastic, and Morgan as the sidekick was amazing! The show was so creative and fun and I could have watched it multiple times. If you’re sailing on the Treasure, be on the lookout for this show!

Todd jumping into the photo with our elephant

I don’t think we’ve shown a picture of our door decorations, yet. We have homemade magnets from each of our sailings including the map, ship name and dates. After the trip, we choose a picture from the trip and reprint it to bring along next time. So, magnets with photos are past trips, without are future trips. The magnets with our names were a pixie dust gift last year and they’re so cute! I also crocheted our fish extender. Since we don’t do actual fish extender groups and only do pixie dust, it’s small size works. Oh yeah, we also put a picture of Emmett (our dog) on our door. Too bad he can’t come on the cruises with us. He’d love the ice cream!

We’ve had another brief hiatus in writing our trip report, but we’re back! For those that have been following along, you know that Todd was only walking and had to skip his regular running on this trip. We traveled to Philadelphia this week for him to have surgery to repair a core muscle injury. Luckily, it’s a fairly fast and active recovery. He should be back up to speed in about 6 weeks and is already walking up to a mile per day. So, he should be ready to run on our upcoming cruise in August (as of the writing of this, only 31 days away)!

Back to our trip report…

May 15, 2025

Today was our third (and last) sea day of the cruise. The exciting thing about today was that we’d be dining at Palo for brunch for the first time. We waited until we were Platinum to take advantage of the credit.

Todd got up and did his walking and was up to 13,000 steps before coming back to wake me up around 7:45. We skipped breakfast so we’d have room for brunch and went to the adult pool area and AquaMouse to fill our morning. We spent some time in the empty hot tub and there were maybe only one or two other adults in the pool. After about an hour, we went to see if the AquaMouse was open, and had to wait just a few minutes for it to open at 9. We considered riding a second time, but ended up heading back to shower and get dressed after one ride. The AquaMouse is fun, but we’re bigger fans of the AquaDuck on the Fantasy and Dream. Overall, we don’t prefer the beginning part with the screens, we’d rather just be experiencing the “ride” part of the attraction.

All smiles after our AquaMouse ride

After cleaning ourselves up, we headed to Palo for our 10 am reservation. We’d gotten a reminder in the Navigator App the day before that said we could show up as early as 9:45, so we did. Our server was Luca and he was very good. I would say that he was excellent during the first part of our meal. Around halfway through, it felt like he was a bit overextended and was too busy to give us the same personal attention that he started out with, especially after watching the server for the table next to us.

AD_4nXcbimTXenPv1kbbr35tWuAxZvWEBXhNMZdCaZsPfIkHlSGPqFDZsYmRISwxvEfSf906S5fwK3FavQW7YNd_Dogv7di_-XxeedwiKeHa0tSQacIgYejD5GSRYVVdeDP-pXcECWHvXg

Our view at Palo. We thought the water glasses looked like they should contain candles.

Our meal was fantastic! In addition to the celery soup, we also started out with flatbread. We were able to order half spicy sausage and half grape and gorgonzola (the “secret” menu item). It was all great! For our main, we each ordered the chicken parmesan and ordered one lasagna to share. It became quickly apparent that, while the chicken was great, the lasagna was going to be a clear favorite for us. Luca noticed and told us he’d bring us a second lasagna, which was a good idea. We’re still thinking about the lasagna today!

We immediately divided our second lasagna in half or else we probably would have fought over it

Dessert was a hit as well. I ordered the Limoncello Torte and the Warm Amaretto Chocolate Fondant. The cake was good, but not my favorite. The fondant was basically lava cake and was very good. Todd was very excited about dessert and ordered the Warm Apple Cinnamon Sticky Bun and the Buttermilk Panna Cotta Pot. He loved both. As we’re writing, he just said he could eat only sticky buns at Palo and be happy. Interestingly, I don’t typically care for Panna Cotta, but it was really tasty and I might even order that next time.

AD_4nXdWYqeP_YGvKBVKvUHwTYm3r_79mwwYWfZPdQDcdGbAderXKqx6rc3SgJ-UzUo94Hl5UVaJHFV4qMjSQvDqmlSYMUN8q75UZu2wfc4IA1fU732WNUdDmjR5Jufk5Vn08wWTHg9P7g

Our selection of desserts. Todd seemed to “win” this course with his selections.

Overall, we had a great experience at Palo and look forward to going again. It may not be something we end up doing on every cruise, but we will certainly be back. If only I could have that lasagna for dinner tonight!

Thumbs up for Palo from us

We got done with brunch and were back to the room to change into our comfy clothes around 11:40. Our next stop was Sarabi for Music Live Trivia at 12:15. We ran into Robert and Marrianne and teamed up. We ended up scoring 30/40. It was fun, I always enjoy the live music trivia.

After that, we went to Skipper Society to check out the crafts. Hanah was making flower rings out of pipe cleaners, so we stuck around for that. This is just another perfect example of how cruises are like summer camp for adults. We love doing things (like crafts) that we normally wouldn't do at home.

Our afternoon was fairly relaxed. We went up to get some drinks on Deck 11 and then headed towards the Walt Disney Theatre. There was a matinee showing of Beauty and the Beast. We weren’t going to see the show, but we wanted to find the cast member, Taylor, that we knew from previous sailings. She was standing at one of the doors and we were able to chat for a bit. Other than embarkation, we hadn’t run into her, so we wanted to make sure to say hello.

We wandered up to Dory’s Forget-Me-Nots to check out merchandise there. I found a DCL hat that I was interested in, but wasn’t ready to purchase. I also had my eye on a bag that I’d wanted since our last cruise, so I had to think about what I’d actually bring home. I grabbed an ice cream and then we headed back to the room to relax for a bit. We watched Bambi and I took a brief nap.

Feeling refreshed, we headed back out into the world and Todd did some walking around while I headed up to Deck 11 for another soda and to watch some Funnel Vision. Then, it was about time for our evening activities.

This was the only food we consumed between Palo and dinner. We were full!

Beauty and the Beast was awesome, as usual. The production of that show is just phenomenal! On our way through the Grand Hall after the show, Coriander and Sage were doing a performance of Aladdin Retold, so we stopped to watch. It was so fun! As I’ve said before, if you’re on the Treasure, don’t miss this act, they’re great! We ran into Andea and Frank (our DisBoards friends) and caught up with them a bit while waiting for dinner time.

Dinner was our second night in Marvel and our first time seeing the new show with Groot and the interactive trivia. It was cute and our table mate, Roger was killing the Marvel trivia. I was still feeling full from Palo, but enjoyed the meal.

Todd ordered both the Ahi Tuna Poke and the Plant Based Soba Noodle Bowl. I guess he was the adventurous eater on this day!

After dinner, we followed our typical routine and headed to Sarabi for the 18+ entertainment. We played Majority Minds (meeting some new friends, Jake and Teegan) and then watched the Zak Mirz magic show. As I think we mentioned, we’d seen him last year on the Fantasy. His show was the same, but still entertaining. We stuck around to watch karaoke for a bit and then headed back to the room for bed around 11:45.

We’re not huge beach people, but we do love a day at Castaway Cay! Todd did his usual morning routine and we then headed up to Marceline Market for breakfast around 8 am. We spent a bit of time walking around and then watched the ship pull into Castaway. On this itinerary, the arrival to Castaway is a bit later, typically listed at 10 am, or so.

AD_4nXdBqX4UhbHNmt7tGjoF1O-o6BK-qXJH8-wo0Ov6njSyIEckwJMkQzF5fLhGWstozx58tggXW0E4Qz-V_Y1gRtMdFIiYk7FN59cWO-vYIsA2CW92Bjox8cf_HfXYBOt9M68spCUy8w

It was Mickey Churro Waffle Day at Marceline Market

On cruises where we get to Castaway early, Todd will get off as soon as possible to run. With him not running and with the later arrival, we were in no rush to get off the ship. Since we didn’t care about getting a specific beach spot and had no plans other than to wing it, we opted to wait for the crowds to disembark first.

Watching our arrival to Castaway

There was a new-to-us trivia topic happening, so after we gathered our stuff to get off the ship with, we headed to Skipper Society to participate in “Florida and Bahamas Trivia.” It was very difficult. We ended up scoring only 10/20 and the winners got 15. We chatted with some cast members. Specifically, we got a chance to talk with Danny, who had been our evening host on the Magic last year. On that cruise, there was kind of a funny occurrence when Danny asked for someone with a calculator and a young adult guest had one. Turns out, that guest just carried the calculator at all times, so it became a thing. We told Danny that he might not remember us, but he’d definitely remember that…and he did!

We disembarked and walked to the second family beach. I was proud of myself for walking when I really wanted to take the tram! On the way, we stopped at In Da Shade where Todd shot some baskets while I enjoyed the shade. We decided to go swimming first and ran into Jenn and her family. We had a good time hanging out in the water and chatting with them until about noon. We, especially Todd, always enjoy the water more if there are people to talk to. I think it takes his mind off the possibility of fish. I keep telling him that it’s Disney, so they are animatronic fish, but I don’t think he’s bought it, yet.

A brief photo during our walk

After spending some time in the water, we changed into our regular clothes and grabbed some lunch at Cookies Too. Nothing much to report about lunch. The selection was a bit different than I remembered, with sausage and macaroni and cheese as options. I know these items were at Lookout, so I’m thinking they may have added them to Castaway as well. I also always enjoy the fruit, especially the mango when we’re at Castaway!

I needed two plates to hold my fruit (and desserts!)

After lunch, Todd was interested in the free throw contest happening at In Da Shade. Todd walked ahead of me and I ran into Jenn and her family again. They came along and Jenn’s husband, Andy, joined in the competition as well. After doing well practicing earlier in the day, Todd let the pressure get to him and did not win. Maybe next time.

The large crowd gathered for the free throw contest

I then decided to head back to the ship to shower while Todd took the long way by walking out the runway to Serenity Bay first! Again, I was proud of myself for walking back and not taking the tram. On one of our cruises, I took the tram while Todd walked and it took FOREVER! Unfortunately, I had Todd’s ID, so he was stuck waiting for me. So, this time, I walked and not one tram passed me while I was making my way back to the ship.

Todd took a photo of the supposed new Serenity Bay eating area during his walk.
It must be close to opening alongside the new cabanas soon?

We met back at the room around 2:00 and got showered and cleaned up. There was a matinee showing of Moana at 3 and, since we were back, we decided to do that. Since the show had gotten a lot of hype and all the shows had been crowded, we figured it might be a good idea to try and go while at least some of the ship was still on the island. While we typically try not to wait in line for too long and are generally happy with sitting anywhere, we got there early for this one. I had been frustrated the evening before with sitting in the back because so many people were getting up during the show and going up and down the aisles. I found it very distracting and it really took away from my enjoyment of the show. Especially since this was a new show, I wanted to be able to focus and enjoy it. We ended up with seats in the middle around row 4-5 and happily, no one around us was getting up and down the whole time.

Pre-Moana in the Walt Disney Theatre

While Moana was fantastic, we ended up feeling a bit disappointed. We’d read so many great reviews and so many people reported that it was the best show they’d seen on DCL, so I think we were expecting more. It was awesome, but it was what we’d expect from DCL. I think we both walked away with the same opinion; it was great, but Beauty and the Beast was still our favorite. After talking with some others, we heard echoes of this same thought. I’d still rate Moana very high, but it was a little over-hyped for us.

We went up to Deck 11 and grabbed a second lunch of deck snacks and watched things wrap up on the island. Apparently, there was an accident of some sort and someone had to be helicoptered off the island. What’s interesting about it is that it was happening while we were having our deck snacks and we never even saw it happening. We only found out about it later from friends and the Facebook group. We had seen a helicopter transport guests one other time while at Castaway Cay and it was fascinating to watch the crew members doing their jobs. Hopefully, the person got the medical attention they needed, it’s an unfortunate way to end their cruise.

Some of our last deck snacks of the cruise

At this point, it was time for the inevitable…packing. We watch a lot of Disney cruise vlogs and it seems like people talk about packing for the last two days and it taking a lot of time. My preference is to do it as fast and late as possible. For me, it doesn’t take a lot of thought. I have to make sure all the stuff we brought ends up in a suitcase. It’s not like packing to leave from home and having to decide what to bring. So, I went back and got everything ready to go so we had our morning stuff separated and the big suitcases were ready to go out after dinner

Since we’d seen the earlier showing of Moana, we had some time on our hands. We cleaned up for dinner and went to Disney Parks Trivia at 6:30. We again teamed up with Robert and Marrianne and scored 21/22…and lost! This ended up being the first cruise in quite a while that we only won trivia once! Luckily, we have just as much fun participating as we do winning.

I decided to buy the hat from Dory’s, so I went up to get it once the shop was open. I had also purchased the bag I’d been eying the evening before. We don’t typically buy souvenirs, but I had some Disney gift cards saved up this time.

My new bag (you’ll need to wait to see my hat until our next trip report since we didn’t take a photo of it this time)

We still had some time before dinner, so we went to Sarabi to watch the Family Time Game Show. The family that had been sitting at the table next to us at dinner was participating, so that was fun! We also ran into Sharon and Skip (that we’d met while waiting for embarkation) and chatted with them about how their cruise had been - excellent - and said our goodbyes.

Our last night of dinner was back at Coco for the second menu and we loved it. The enchiladas were so good and I’d probably order that with some rice as a main course next time. We both ordered carnitas and they were huge portions. We had already decided we wouldn’t be going to breakfast in the main dining room, so we said our goodbyes to our table mates and servers. We also said goodbye to a server in the neighboring area who had been our assistant server on a previous cruise. We had been seeing him and saying hello every night, so it felt right to say goodbye. Robert and Marrianne tracked us down to say goodbye and we stopped by the table to say farewell to Andrea, Frank, Matt and Jody, too. We had made a lot of friends on this sailing!

Todd completed another “perfect soup” cruise by eating all 14 main dining room soups during our cruise

We, as a rule, do not go to the show at the end of the cruise. On the other ships, it is called the ‘Til We Meet Again. While it’s a cute show and it’s fun to see all the characters, we think it’s too sad. So, we skip it. On the Treasure, it’s called Treasure Found Farewell Celebration. We’ve seen some videos of it and it looks good and we think we might like it, but we didn’t go on this trip. Maybe next time.

We opted to spend our last evening back in Sarabi with Josh and the 18+ entertainment. I participated in a round of Heard That and swept my three answers in a row. My third answer was from Back to the Future, which is Todd’s favorite. It took me a second, but I got it! All I was thinking was how he wouldn’t have let me live it down if I’d missed it. I won a DCL fidget spinner! We also did 80’s music trivia, which was fun.

Our last activity was a stroll up on Deck 12 to get our last bits of DCL atmosphere. We saw a ship in the distance and could tell it was a Disney ship because we could make out the red funnels. After some thinking about itineraries, we determined it was the Wish on its way out of Port Canaveral. We headed back to the room around 11:45 to find our last towel animal of the cruise.

The worst day of the whole cruise…disembarkation!

Todd’s tradition on disembarkation day is to get up VERY early and walk around the ship one last time while no one is around. He doesn’t set an alarm, but often wakes up in the 3 or 4 o’clock hour. He left the room around 4:00 for his farewell tour. He spent a couple of hours walking around all areas of the ship.

Nearly 4,000 steps and two hours later we arrived at Cruise Terminal 8

Apparently, one of Todd’s favorite things is seeing the first thing off the ship, which is a coffee cart that gets brought into the terminal. We assume it is for some sort of meeting, but why is it prepared by the ship and not by someone shoreside? It’s also amazing to see all the empty carts awaiting luggage.

The logistics of a cruise are fascinating

After his farewell tour and watching us pull into the port, he came back to get me for breakfast. I had been awake since about 6:30 when all the texts I’d been missing started coming in. I have a group chat with some friends at home and it seems that every trip when I don’t have service, something is going on. So, I read some to catch up with goings on and dreaded getting out of bed and having to leave for the real world.

We showered and packed up our last items into our backpacks and headed to Marceline Market for our last breakfast. Ironically, we ended up sitting at a table right next to our dinner table mates! I savored my last hashbrowns, bacon and POG juice until the next trip.

Todd’s oatmeal with various toppings (we missed getting a photo of my breakfast)

Our second debarkation tradition is to hang out on Deck 4 overlooking the atrium and people leaving the ship for a while. So, we went back to the room to grab our backpacks and headed to the seating area on Deck 4. I took care of booking our placeholder, which we do on every cruise. We’ve learned that you can do it on the last morning before getting off the ship, so that’s what we do to ensure we have the longest window to use it. We actually just lost out on using one because an upcoming cruise we’re going on is one day later than the 24-month window. We still had one to use from another cruise, but it was kind of funny because that was the last one we’d booked before realizing we could do it on the last day. If we’d done it on the last day, we’d have used it!

Our last moments in Stateroom 9077

While hanging out in that area, we go back and forth between watching the Grand Hall and going outside to look over at the pier and the logistics of loading the ship for the next cruise. Todd saw a pallet that had over 12,000 bottles of water on it! I feel like I could watch those fork lifts going back and forth loading things forever.

Operations are a well-oiled machine when you only have a few hours to turn around a ship

We got off the ship right around 9 am and headed to pick up our luggage. There’s a guy named Robert that works at Port Canaveral and is from the town next to ours. They’re pretty small towns, so this is pretty cool. We try to say hello to him every time we see him. On our last cruise, we asked to wait to go to his line to get checked in! Anyway, as we grabbed our bags, we saw him and were able to say hello (we’d missed him on embarkation day). He let us through stanchions to avoid walking around to the line to go through customs, so that was nice!

One last look at the Disney Treasure

We went out to meet our ride from Cortrans and once Todd called they were there in about 2 minutes. As we were waiting, we found Renee and her daughter that had ridden with us to the port. We hadn’t bumped into them for the entirety of the cruise! We had a fun time talking about the cruise, comparing the ship to other ships and finding out what each of us did on the cruise. It made the time to the airport go by quickly. Our driver, John, was the same that had brought us to the port. I joked with him that I was a lot happier to see him the previous week.

Our flight was at 2:05, so we had a bit of time to wait. We’ve had flights out after 8 pm, so this wasn’t too bad. Typically we use the time catching up on whatever we’ve missed in the world while we were on the ship. I think there are lots of comfortable areas to sit at MCO, so a short wait wasn’t bad at all.

We’ll do one more post to wrap up our overall thoughts on the cruise, so be sure to come back for one more post!

Question of the Post: What time do you normally get off the ship? Do you get off early to get traveling (or home) or do you stay until they kick you off?

Just wanted to say thank you for this great trip report. We are boarding the Treasure today and it gave me so much to look forward to!

Edited to fix typo!

Last time we were literally kicked off the ship. We had the late sit down breakfast and then there was a wait for the bathroom and then the kids were taking kind of a long time....they started to make announcements to leave

As you can guess by reading through our trip report, we had an outstanding time on the Disney Treasure! We were sad for the cruise to end. In wrapping up this trip report, we thought we would share some positives and some things that we noticed Disney might be able to improve upon. In addition to filling out the end-of-cruise survey before disembarking, Todd shared a follow-up email with DCL with some constructive feedback.

Positives:

  • We enjoyed meeting and talking with a number of other guests. The Facebook group was very active, which was exciting leading up to the trip. And it was so fun to meet so many new friends

  • The Cast Members were fantastic. We enjoyed seeing some old favorites and meeting some new friends. Some that stood out included Josh, Violet, Morgan and Taylor. Plus, we talked with a neighboring room host, A. Foster, almost every time we came and went from our room. He was so nice!

  • The aesthetics of the ship were amazing. I particularly loved the carpets and light fixtures throughout the ship. It seemed weird when we got home to tell people one of my favorite things about the cruise was the carpets.

  • We loved the theming, atmosphere and food at Plaza de Coco. It is in the running for our favorite MDR restaurant on DCL.

  • We love the Eastern Caribbean itinerary (obviously, since it was the third straight May we did it!). The three sea days are attractive and the views at St. Thomas and Tortola are so beautiful. Plus, seven nights always beats the shorter itineraries.

  • All the spaces (Haunted Mansion Parlor, Sarabi, Skipper Society) are well done and better than their counterparts on the Wish.

  • The deck snacks met expectations from our cruise on the Wish. Todd particularly enjoyed Donald’s Cantina, while I liked to get more of a variety.

  • Coriander and Sage were extremely entertaining. Everything they were a part of was great. Todd liked the way that while they were actors, it seemed like their true personalities came through.

Room for Improvement:
  • While the delay for embarkation couldn’t be avoided with the Coast Guard inspection, the communication about why we were delayed was managed poorly and no one knew what was happening. This extended to the muster drill as well.

  • The smoking area on Deck 4 was available all day, which hampered our enjoyment of the space.

  • (As many have said about this class of ship) Not having a full walking loop is a huge miss in the design of the ship. And Todd was disappointed that one side was closed each morning.

  • Having only a smattering of lounge chairs, and their lack of cushions, on Deck 4 was a big disappointment to Erica.

  • (As many have said about this class of ship) The adult pool area is inadequate on the Treasure, just like the Wish.

  • We prefer to be able to serve ourselves at Marceline Market. Besides not being able to get the amounts we’d like, it causes long queues at the stations. This goes for the soft-serve ice cream as well!

  • The black boxes that produced scents for each area on the ship were eyesores and could surely be done in a more hidden way.

  • The spaces for activities are lacking. There was often standing room only for trivia, crafts, etc. Since not much can be done about the size of the spaces, more programming needs to be added to spread out the crowds.

  • Not being sure if our tablemates were really tablemates due to the way we were treated separately by our serving team was awkward and made for a slow introduction to them.

  • The amount of space, and especially storage, in the interior room felt cramped and small compared to the interior rooms on other ships.

  • We’d like to see more variety in the variety acts available. It feels like we have seen some of the same acts several times and we’d like some new shows.

Thank you for following along! We have enjoyed sharing our cruise with you, and hopefully it helped make your countdown to your next cruise go a bit quicker. We are sailing on the Magic in August and hope to share our experience on that cruise here with another trip report. Let us know if there is anything you want us to check out on the Magic.

Question of the Post: When’s your next cruise and what are you most looking forward to?
