Easter Basket

I'm curious - I never realised Easter baskets were that elaborate (I just do an Easter Egg hunt of some kind for my kids with some candy). What do people typically spend on their Easter baskets? From the description of things here, it sounds like $50-$75. I always thought it was something like $10-20 but obviously I have no clue lol!

We try to not go crazy on Easter baskets for no reason. If we have an upcoming vacation planned, we will theme the baskets towards that like last years Disney baskets or this year we are doing beach baskets. If we have no vacation planned close to that time, it will be small things that they might need to kick off the summer and always a chocolate Easter bunny. We never wanted to do a ton of candy and typically only try to buy things for the baskets that would be purchased anyways.

My DS9's basket will be about $90 but he needs the couple outfits I'll get him & that's about 1/2 of the money. We generally don't buy our kids stuff except for birthdays/holidays. Also, they don't eat candy. We still have in-date Halloween candy here in canisters on the kitchen counter.

I'd say the value of our baskets are $30-$40, but it's all stuff I've found good deals on so maybe $15-$20 on actual cost. Some $1 books from the Scholastic order at school, some Disney Infinity figures ($5 each) or power discs (although I think the discs will go in some of the bigger plastic eggs for the hunt), something from the American Girl sale page (maybe $10), a Nintendo DS game from Black Friday ($10). It's all stuff I've stocked up on through great deals. But even at that the value isn't in the $50-$75 range. Probably a bit more than what I got as a kid, but I don't think one nicer item ($20-$30 value) is too extravagant. I'd rather do that than filler junk and the kids' birthdays are closer to Christmas so I really don't want to put everything away until then. I'd rather spread things out a bit over the year so that they actually play with them (otherwise the Christmas presents are overwhelming and many items get "lost in the shuffle").

OP maybe a hidden mickey book for your son. Available on amazon. My daughter and I spend around $30 on each basket. Like the pp's we try not to do much candy. So far we have I-tune cards and a few things for a beach trip this summer.

I'm aiming for $50 each for my kid's baskets. Some years it's more, depends on when Easter falls. This year it's 3 days after one kids birthday and 3 weeks before the other one's. They get some candy (not much) and then a good mix of stuff I'd buy them anyway and fun stuff. We don't buy them a lot of stuff during the year that they don't need and we don't do big birthday presents. We also don't have a lot of family buying them stuff either, so we tend to go overboard on holidays. I'm trying to rein it in, though.

Thanks for the replies. You guys are the best! He does need a new swim suit and sunglasses anyway. I love the idea of the hidden mickey book.
