Hi,

We have some gift certificates for Disneyland that we got as a Christmas gift in 2004, I think. Forgot to bring them with us on our last trip to Disneyland, but have them in a safe place, ready for our trip this weekend :thumbsup2. I also have some recent gift cards to use. Can I just credit these to our room account when we check in? Our rooms (VGC and PPH) are already paid for so there is no balance, but will the CMs let me put these on my account as a credit so I don't have to carry them around and use them separately? I wonder if they even get the old gift certificates anymore?

If the balance is not used up when we have to check out, what would happen then?

If you can ask them to credit your CC for the payment on the room and then pay it with the DGCs.

For the Gift Certificate, you may have to have it exchanged for GCs. Probably Guests Services.

I thought about this, too, since our third night was originally a cash reservation, but I managed to use DVC points for the three nights in the end, so there isn't a CC to credit. Will they just credit the GCs to our room account?

Thanks for the Guest Services pointer. I have to go there anyway, so I might as well inquire about the ancient (sort of) gift certificates while I am there :).

We have not stayed on DVC points yet (soon!), but dont you still have to put a credit card down upon arrival for incidentals and room charges, etc? You could use the GCs for this purpose.

We had 8 gift cards and I did not want to have to carry them all around the parks, too much bulk, too complicated to remember which one has how much left (I'm on vacation not doing accountng, lol) and a little worry about them getting lost. So I went to Guest Services and asked if I could have the balances of all 8 put onto just ONE card. Much easier to carry around!

Yes, we will need to use a CC for incidentals so I think I will just see if they can apply these cards first. I don't like having cards to carry around, and especially the "ancient" paper gift certificates. I am so glad I never lost them but so sad we had not been able to get to Anaheim in all those years! It's about time :yay:!

You can use them to pay any balance on your room, includign any charges for food or merchandise. However, you still need to initially put down a CC and then apply the GC(s) on checkout day. This is different than WDW resorts, where you could do this the night before. Best of luck -- Suzanne
