Day 1
Thursday, 7/25/02
With Daddy out of work he spent a nice morning with the kids and did the last minute packing. They said their good byes to our cat Tigger, Dog, Lady and Bunny, Bugs and they were off to pick Mommy up at work. With Mommy in the Van we all enjoyed our sandwiches and chips that we had packed and we were on our way from North Carolina.
Approximately 7 hours later we arrived in St. Augustine (where Mommy and Daddy spent their honeymoon) We obtained a room at the Travelodge @ 290 San Marco Ave for $53.10. We brought our overnight bag into our room and decided we were all hungry. We drove a few minutes down the road to the historic section of St. Augustine. On the way we showed our children the beautiful cross at Mission of Nombre de Dios. We parked close to town and walked through the city gates. It was wonderful to show our kids where Mommy & Daddy spent their first few days of married life together. We showed our children the Oldest Wooden Schoolhouse (built prior to 1763 it remains as it was back then. The schoolhouse was the first school to bring both girls and boys together for learning in 1788.). We then enjoyed a wonderful Spanish dinner at the Columbia Restaurant. Our daughter loves carriage rides so after dinner we took the ghost tour carriage ride. Our driver was wonderful, she let our daughter sit up front with her to help with the horses and the 2 of them told ghost stories together. Although we did not get the normal ghost tour, the stories my daughter helped her tell were priceless. Our son cuddled up to his Daddy and we enjoyed a special ending to our day.
..Tomorrow Alligators, Fort fun and Will we see Mickey today Daddy?
