Earning Disney Visa Rewards

Not sure if this is the right section, but here goes.

Is there a list anywhere of "acceptable" charges that allow you to earn Rewards dollars on the Disney Visa? I looked at the Terms & Conditions and it's very vague. It only says "qualifying purchases", or something to that effect. How do you know what a qualifying purchase is? Any help is appreciated!

All of my purchases have always earned the standard 1% reward...are you looking at a bonus offer? Or the terms and conditions of 'qualifying purchases' may just mean that your bill has to be up to date, etc....if you are behind on paying them you don't get rewards dollars.

You earn 1% back in the form of rewards dollars on every credit card charge. You do not earn it on cash advances or balance transfers. If you have the cashier process your transaction as a debit instead of credit, you will not earn rewards on that either.

But yes, you will earn the 1% back on your Disney package.

Yes. You earn rewards for all your charges. Every once in awhile, there is a special promotion where you can earn 3 times or 5 times the awards for certain purchases (gas, travel, etc.). Those don't seem to be as common as they once were.

Great, that's what I thought. Next question...when do the Rewards dollars hit your account? I paid for my vacation package on the 9/17, but it's only showing $23 in Rewards dollars.

I'm new to the card and still on the 6 month no interest, promo. The rewards don't seem to add up as fast as I'm spending and was wondering if they are only added to your acct when you make a cc payment?

Just curious as we're carrying a balance only cuz it's 0% (making monthly payments but less than full balance) but if Rewards are credited at payment, then we'll pay it off well before Dec so we can use the credits at Disneyland

You should see those points in your account when you get your statement. Rewards dollars are awarded at the end of the billing cycle in which you made your purchase. It's not based on when you pay the balance.

They post on your closing date, which is a few days after your payment is due.

Don't forget, you are only earning 1% of your purchases, so for every $100 you charge to your card, that is $1 of Disney Rewards Points....it does take a while to accumulate a lot unless you use your card for everything.

Keep in mind that once the 0% is over, the interest rate is pretty high, if you aren't going to pay the balance in full, the interest you pay will not make the 1% rewards worth it...

Also - if you book a Disney package with your card, you get 0% on that package for 6 months as well....

Thx a mint aka-mad4themouse & stacielee for clarifying. I've seen it on my statement but it always seems lower than what I expected. I'll check on-line a wk after payment is due...now that I know where the lag is.

DLW8, thx a mint for the heads up. I try to use the card for everything so that I can collect points and keep better track of where the money is being spent. DH just doesn't get it: if you use cash, ask for a receipt and put it in the pretty blue receipt jar when you get home I pretty well have no idea where his cash goes Fortunately, we do pay off our entire balance every month but I'm just leveraging off the 0% but have the funds put aside (collecting a whopping .000000002% interest )

Do you happen to know if buying park tickets qualifies for the 0% for 6 month promo?

Only if they are purchased as part of a package. If you purchase them online or at the gate you do not get the 0% for 6 months.

I also just got mine last month and bought a few things (new tires for the car, a small spree at Walmart ) and those showed up pretty quickly ($7). Then I paid the balance off (9/13) and it showed as paid, but no rewards, so I called. They said when the new statement shows up (mine is Oct. 5), that's when I'll see the new rewards.

Here's MY question .. I know you need $25 (or is it $20?) to get your Rewards card first sent to you, and so I'm doing that next week. Our trip is 11/1-11/10. So whatever I use that card for the month of October will have rewards and can be transferred on 11/5 (we'll be in the parks) I'm assuming ... So that means anything AFTER that will wait until the next cycle, correct? In other words, our hotel on the way down (11/1) will show up on 11/5, but the hotel on the way home (11/10) won't show up until 12/5? Or is it instant once you get the rewards card sent to you?

The rewards arent instant. You get them when you get your bill. You need $20 to ask for your first card. And you need at least $10 to make a transfer every time after you get your first card.
