I don't understand....I filed my tax return today and somehow I'm getting more in my tax refund than I actually paid in taxes....How can that happen?

Because of the earned income credit. Made too much this year, but was able to get the credit the last two years.

I knew that but I just don't understand how you can get more in a "refund" than you actually paid (where do they get the extra money from?....I'm not a big fan of things like welfare, so if it comes from other taxpayers even though it's nice to get it, I don't like that fact very much.)
