Christy, are you a cat 12 GTY also??

Yep, from what I understand we will at least be upgraded to a 12 since there are 4 of us.

I was thinking we still had about 2 months left, then I saw my ticker. YIKES!! I HAVE to start The South Beach Diet and using my treadmill tomorrow (I did use the treadmill today).

I want to have to get new clothes for the cruise because the ones I have now are to big!!

Hello Everyone -

Well, I am new to these boards and a first time cruiser. We just booked this trip a few weeks ago and I am getting so excited! I will be traveling with my husband and my two YOUNG children (DD will be 22 months and DS will be 4 months) YIKES!!!! I am a bit worried about how they will do on the cruise...mostly my DD sleeping at night. Her bedtime at home is 7:30 and unfortunately we could only get the late dinner seating. We are waitlisted for the early seating and I hope we are able to get it. I do want to experience the on board dining I have heard so much about but DD has MAJOR meltdowns when she get tired. I am sure that if we tried to keep her awake for the late seating, our dinner companions would need earplugs :earseek:

Is there anyone else traveling with very young children?

Lisa0503,
I would not dispair if you get the later dinner seating. The last cruise we were on, we met a couple with a DS and a DD. They had the late seating and said it was perfect. They too wanted an early seating but glad they didn't get it. Their children were so tired from all the activities during the day that around 6PM they would take a nap and be refreshed at dinnertime at 9PM.

Welcome Lisa and family. I will be travleling with an almost 4 year old and a 20 month old, but last year when we cruised it was with a 30 month old and a 8 month old. They both did really well on the last cruise with late dining, but we tend to go to bed late around here.

To make sure I get to enjoy my dinner this cruise I picked 2 nights and signed my younger son up at Flounders. I LOVE being with my kids, but I am really looking forward to sitting back and enjoying dinner. My plan is to get the kids dinner with our appetizers and then go drop them off.

On our first cruise, we brought our stroller and sometimes our son would sleep in there during dinner (we have always had late dinner on every cruise we have been on, we always book last minute).

Christy

Welcome Lisa! I have a 3 year old and 5 year old. We do have early seating, but if I were you, I would not distress. If your kids get hungry earlier, order that all hands on deck snack platter for late afternoon. Or, take them to the Buffet (not sure which restaurant that is) and then when its dinner time, drop them off in the nursery so you can have at least one "alone" dinner.

As for meeting onboard, do we want to try and meet somewhere during sail away? Where? You previous cruisers know the layout better than I!

Hi! Lisa welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I actually prefer that late seating and I have 4 kids ( they wont be sailing this time) but we sailed in Nov and the kids were ages 19 months,5, 8 and 9.....they all did well! We just let the 19 month old take a nap around 6pm and it worked out really good!

Hey rocketralph I do not remember if I have noticed before, but it looks like we will be cruising together next year too. I am booked on the 09/16/06 Magic as well :-)

Any meets I have attended have been up on deck 10, there is a bar that faces the adult pool. I think it is called outlook or something...I forget

Hi Everyone -

Thanks so much for the wonderful advice...I had actually never thought about trying to get DD down for a nap at 6pm...That is a GREAT idea!!!! I feel so much better now. I really would like her to see the fireworks on Pirate nite since she had never seen them but I thought it would be impossible to keep her up till 10:30...Now I have hope!!!

Actually DW and I were kicking around cancelling the 9/16/06 Magic and Booking the 9/17/06 11 day Wonder. But with the $2300 difference I think we are going to keep the Double Dip Magic cruise.
Maybe we'll see each other.

Sounds good to me. Does everyone think before/around time of sail away is good?

p.s. No docs yet. My TA said 10-14 days prior to cruise. Gosh I can't wait that long!!! And my parents are taking a driving vacation to Mall of America and won't be back until 9/10 or so...makes me nervous to wait that long to be sure they got their docs!

I'm all for meeting on Deck 10 when the Sailaway Party begins, right above the bar. Any thoughts to have us recognize each other? (lanyards with our Dis-name?, other ideas?) OH I can't wait! I just got the "Beauty and the Beat" steel drum Disney tunes CD and I called each of my sisters and left them a message with the music playing
Take care,
Laura :wave2:

WE kicked around the same idea, and it had the same effect on us when we saw the price difference! LOL

Ok no expert here, but any meet I have attended has also been at 3pm. It gives you time to say "Hi" before the drill, and at the sailaway oarty, it is so loud, you can not talk. Then once you have said hi to your feloow DISers, when you see them around the ship, you can chose your level of interaction.

Sounds good to me...3pm it is on 10th deck across from the bar. Do I have that right?

p.s. Anyone dieting and working out right now? I looked so good my last cruise, but have not been so good lately and gained 7 lbs...so I'm starting to work out again, no eating after 8pm, and lay off the sweets!

Sounds good, 3PM on Deck 10.

I am dieting and working out (well I was working out until I got the flu this weekend, my head is so stuffy I can not imagine trying to run right now!). I said before, I goal is to have to go and get new clothes!!

Christy

nope no dieting for me, I already know that I am a fat chick, and trust me losing 7 lbs aint gonna help me! I have many more to lose than that.

Well I haven't been here in forever!!! Shame on me I know! Totally looking forward to our up coming cruise! My mom and dad are excited it will be their first one and the kids are excited as well! I've just gotta start pulling things together, so that there isn't a mad rush to pack! LOL

Last year on the 9/19/04 Wonder we all had something with a lime green mickey icon on it. We got them from the Disney paint chips at Home Depot (I think the actual color is Alien green). :) Glad to be back!
