EARLY ROLL CALL....September 18, 2005 on Disney's Wonder (4 day cruise)

 My kids had their very 1st TaeKwonDo tournament this afternoon! My dd (8) got 3rd place in sparring! My DS (9) got 1st place in sparring and 3rd place in forms! And my little tiger cub DS (5) was awesomely cute!

Way to Go, Amanda, sounds like you a blast just being there watching them.
My DN4 came over to see where Uncle Wrench and was a scared of me at first, just got home from surgery 2 days agao, so I'm still a mess, and can't talk, but by the time for her to go home, she was giving a big bear hug and telling me to get better, as she needs me to cover and help daddy move her stuff, got to love 4 years.

Just check and I see the Cat. 7 is the lowest rooms being show (on DCL.COM) and they are a GTY room only, looks like maybe a full ship??

Take Care
Wrench

Thanks Wrench!
Seems like maybe it was Voss a few posts back that maybe posted something about the ship possibly being full as well.....I have my fingers crossed for an upgrade. I booked CAT 12 GTY just to see what would happen. I will be happy either way because I am just happy to be on the ship.

I found this about the test dinner times, looks like we will miss it by one cruise. We have late seating also which is about the normal time we eat at home.

DCL response
I found this information helpful and thought I would share it. After reading this post I e-mailed DCL to ask them if this would affect my 1/06 cruise on the Magic. This is the response I got:

Thank you for your e-mail.

Beginning on the June 12, 2005 sailing through the September 11, 2005 sailing, the Disney Wonder
will test a change to the rotational dining times with 'staggered dining'.

Guests scheduled on MAIN dining will be assigned a dining time of 5:45 PM. 6:00 PM, or 6:15 PM for
the voyage.

Guests scheduled on SECOND dining will be assigned a dining time of 8:00 PM, 8:15 PM, or 8:30 PM for
the voyage.

We look forward to the chance to sail with you.

DCL is testing a new seating schedule. The late seating times are now 8:00, 8:15 & 8:30. They haven't made these times official as yet, but I can see advantages to this type of seating schedule.

The following was taken from another website in regards to this new schedule.

Disney Wonder Tests Rotational Dining Times

On June 12, the Disney Wonder will test a slight change to the rotational dining times. Guests currently scheduled for Main Dining will be assigned a dining time of 5:45 p.m., 6:00 p.m. or 6:15 p.m. Guests scheduled on Second Dining will be assigned a dining time of 8:00 p.m., 8:15 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. In addition, entertainment options each evening will be arranged to compliment the revised dining times. This test is based on Guest feedback and will provide greater movement throughout the ship prior to and following the dinner service.

Hi all! Haven't been on lately...been busy with my own garage sale. Made $650 so will put that in the trip savings account! :cool1: :cheer2:

I had read about the dining staggered times, but hadn't seen before that it was supposed to end sept 11. I wonder why? If it continues, I wonder if you can change or pick which of the staggered times you get? We are early seating, and if its one of 5:45, 6:00 or 6:15, I'd go for 6:15. But then, wouldn't everybody? That would give us 30 extra minutes of fun b4 dinner.

We don't have air yet either. Thought Southwest would open up this week, but nada. Maybe next week.

Has anyone purchased travel insurance yet? Do you plan to? I think I will given we are sailing during hurricane season. I did have it for my last cruise with CSA through www.insuremytrip.com. Without getting into a long hairy story, we did have some problems with our flight and missed connections and delay and lost luggage. We had $120 of expenses, which were denied at first, but when I wrote them a ltr explaining how and why (there forms really don't have room for all of that), they promptly reimbursed me.

Hooray we're almost down to 4 months. Wow I still have a bunch of planning to do, buy plane tickets, reserve a rental car, hotel rooms, etc. I can't wait I've never been on a cruise at all so it shall be fun.

Good news, I have have received a promotion at work!

Sad news, due to this promotion, I will not be able to take two vacations this year as planned. I could be selfish and drop the family vacation, but my kids would KILL me, so I have had to cancel this cruise. I am so down about this too. I was really looking forward to a cruise with just my wife, but I guess I'll have to figure out something extra special for our 15th anniversary.

Good news, we have promised our oldest daughter a Disney cruise for her graduation (2007), so I guess I can wait until then. In all realilty, NOT, but guess I have no other option at this point. On the other hand, we will be taking our first Christmas trip to WDW this year, so all in all not too bad.

Sorry that we will be missing everyone in September, have fun, like you needed to be told. :rotfl2:

Many Blessings,

Cody and Jennie

Congrats on the Promotion Cody! Sorry that you wont be joining us, I will be sure to have plenty of extra fun in your honour! ;-p

Southwest came out with their updated schedule today. THere was a $99 one way deal out of STL, so we booked. I really liked the flight times and the fact that it is a straight flight w/out connections. Total price is $216.90RTpp. The reason I say tenatively is if SW ever gets a deal over to Kansas City, then I'll switch my ressie over there because I have an aunt I can stay with the night before the flight. But, for now, I feel like I got a decent price and am happy to have something booked!

It doesn't look like we are sold out on disneycruiseline.com they have staterooms available from category 4-9 on our cruise. So maybe I'll get upgraded from my category 11 to something lower. That would be some nice pixie dust for my first cruise. If not I'll still be happy to be on my first cruise as I doubt I will rarely be in the room anyways.

I am wishing for the same thing ReAn! LOL I only booked a CAT 12 GTY...so hopefully I will get an upgrade but if not, ah well, as long as I am on the ship, it matters not to me ;-p

Have you guys read about disney cruise line's online booking capabilities now? You can now view your res on dcl website even if you didn't book through dcl. All you need to do is register an account and then view with your conf #. Apparently you can book palo, spa, and excursions online and register kids for the kids clubs before the cruise! For new dcl cruisers like me, its 75 days out. For CC members, 90 days out, suite members 100something. We plan and hope to register the kids and book palo brunch so as to eliminate line waiting when we get onboard!

Its almost 4 months away!!!! :cool1: :cheer2:

Hi Everyone! Laura the Lurker here. :rotfl: I guess I need to post more.
Sounds like everyone is getting their plans together. I can't wait. I saw the info about booking ressies and called my sisters to get their payments to me so we can book when the time comes. We all have our air booked (if USAirways stays in business :sad2: ) and I reserved a car, no, an SUV (my one sister packs her whole closet for trips :earseek: ), and we're staying at the Radisson the night before. ( I'm still going back and forth on that since their flight gets in after 10pm- if on time). Did we decide to have a dis-meet onboard? On my last cruise (Cruisetoberfest 3), we all met on deck 10 at the sailaway. Most had t-shirts and/or lanyards on to identify our DIS-group. Hope everyone is doing well!
Take care,
Laura :wave2:

HI Laura!
Somehow I get the feeling that there will be no DIS tshirts with this group! LOL We are rather small and havent been chatting much these past few months. But a DIS meet would be lovely. Last year, we set one up at the OutLook bar and it was nice to see familiar faces throughout the cruise

Hello All,
jlcbshaw, congrats also on the promotion, Good Luck with it, and have fun at WDW at Christmas time, one of the best X-mas I ever had, even seen Santa ::MickeyMo dropping of packages to hotel rooms at DL

Sorry I have not stop in much, we had a Phoenix police officer go down on the job, and with most of the Police Memorial staff in Washington DC for police week, I was doing a lot of phone calls getting things set up for the crew in DC. They all made it back Monday and were at the service today and said all went well today.

I up for a meeting on the ship, just let me know when/were and I will be there, always enjoy the meetings on my past cruises.
Just paid off the cruise last week, so it's ture, we are going on a cruise again, still have to pay for the after cruise next month.
Just wish I was going this week, they say it might hit 110*F this weekend, way to hot already. :sad2:

Still looking for airfare, hope to have by the end of June.

Sometimes it pays to wait. Guess I should have waited...I booked SW last thurs when their schedule opened up at $216.90pp. Well, today their Ding program had a deal until 7pmCST tonight for my same flight that ended up being $189.40pp. I went ahead and cancelled and rebooked at the cheaper fare. SW automatically refunded $75 in security fees and the remaining $90 sits in an account I have to use within 1 year. I've heard others have called and got refunded the difference, so I might try that tomorrow. But, I am hoping for a short trip next april with my DH for our 15th anniversary so I could use the ticketless travel funds anyway. I'm just glad to get this good of a deal considering how airfare prices have been lately!

I'd love to meet up on the ship. Sailaway is as good a time as any! Just pick a location.

I don't think final payment is due until 75 days out...am i right on that? If so, I can make final payment a week or so ahead of that and then book whatever I want online when the 75 day mark hits because I'm a new disney cruiser.

My DD turned 5 on Monday. Let me tell you it was a Disney Birthday! ha. ha. They have Barbie dolls of all the princesses now, and she got all of them but Jasmine. I'm still searching for that one. She was just in awe! Disney also has a website where you can set up a phone call from a Princess on their birthday. We had Belle call as that is my daughter's favorite. I think because she wears yellow, which is her favorite color. She got a belle sleeping bag, a baby Mermaid, several pre-k reading books about various princesses and aladdin. She was on cloud 9. Now, all I need to do is get a few real nice princess dresses for the cruise. With all this disney stuff, it makes me excited about the trip! Oh, and my DD too! ha ha

Oh wow Voss! Sounds liek DD had a great bday! Happy birthday to her!!! Hey have you looked into the Atlantis thing any further?
