Early roll call for March 20-23rd 08 Wonder cruise

Hello,

As you already know my name is Jen and I live in Baltimore MD. My husband, Chris and my 9 yr old daughter will be doing this cruise without me.

This will be their third Disney Cruise. We were just on one in January of this year. I didn't have a good experience with the motion so I opted to sit this next cruise out.

My daughter LOVES to cruise. My husband and I have been on other cruises besides Disney but we love the Disney cruise.

So when we got off the ship in January and I mentioned I wouldn't go back my daughter was so upset. :guilty: So we thought why not have the two of them go and meet up with me later. So I'm flying in on Easter Sunday and will either meet them at the airport or at the resort. We are staying at AKV our first trip to the new DVC resort at AKL. :yay:

We love WDW we visit about 4-5 times a year. Thanks to our DVC membership. We are coming back the first part of November and then again in January. I know Easter break will be busy but we will find other things to do beside visiting the parks.

I have been looking for a March 20-23 thread for months. I guess I kept missing yours. This will be their first 3 day cruise. Any suggestions for a 3-day? Does it seem rushed? I hope not, since we are used to 7 day cruises.

I will check the post daily and try to keep up with your post.

Nice talking to you,

sorry you wont be coming along too, I understand about motion though.

Many are bothered by it. Perhaps soemtime you can ask your doctor for a prescription to help you if over the counter meds dont help.

The 3 day isnt rushed, each day has plenty to do, but after 3 days we always feel like we need to go again because we are use to the 7 day cruises.

For us it is a nice 3 day weekend because we live so close we dont have to fly or get a hotel.

Hopefully we will get more people and someone will have kids the right age for your daughter. I think it is great you are leftting them still go eventhough you arnt coming this time. Your a true mom putting your families happiness before yours for a few extra days!! Good job mom!!

The week after easter is pretty nice at WDW because the biggest crowds are gone and the weather is usually really nice. I miss the easter parade they use to have, I wish they would bring it back again.

I dont know if you have been to Nassau before or what your daughte rlikes to do but there is a great Pirate museum there, about a 10 minute walk fromt he ship. you do it on your own and allow about an hour to seeit.
also right at the port there is a horse and carriage ride that is fun and you just pay the driver and go. we usually do the 30 minute ride through town for about $15 per person, at least that is what it cost last July withour grandaughter. Plus at Atlantis they have the DIG which is an aquarium. I tis HUGE!! it goes inside and outside the hotel. The tour does go fast but afterwards you can go back through at your own pace and really enjoy it. You can book through Disney or go on your own pretty easy.

If she like forts or history the 2 hour historical city tour is really good. You see 2 forts, one is self guided the other you have a guide and Queen Anne's staircase too. a couple of other buildings too but you dont go in them

I hope you husband and daughter will come to our meet the first day to say hello.
I always have a quick meet the first day around 3 p.m. in the Promenade lounge for everyone who posts to say hello so we all can recognise each other over the next 3 days. Sometimes we link dinner reservations too.
Marsha and I have early dining. If Chris and your Daughter have early and decide they want to link with us let me know and I can do it for them, that way they wont be eating with strangers, just a couple of crazy ladies and my husband who would probably love to have another man at the table.

There is plenty of time to think about it, just about 2 months before the cruise at the latest we should do it if they are interested. I will ask again later as time goes on and we get more people.
Hopefully we will get more people, last 3 day cruise there was us and 3 ladies, so not many.

time to run,
catch ya later,

kathy

Thanks for all the info, I'll let my husband know.

We went to Atlantis the last time we took the Eastern Disney Cruise. So, they might like the priate tour. His thoughts were to just stay on the ship that day.

I hope someone does join in with a 9 year old. Last cruise I was on a thread that my daughter got to meet a girl her age. They emailed each other before the cruise and had a great time once on the cruise. Since my daughter is an only child it is nice for her to make friends before hand.

Yeah, people keep asking my DH if he is ok with going on this cruise without me...he says...ummm no wife, daughter in the kid place...what to do :confused3 ...can you say ESPN. :rotfl:

I'm excited for them...the only rule I gave them was to take LOTS of pictures and buy the pictures on board. Since I scrapbook I need some pictures. And, you know how men are with the camera....

They are on deck 5, they have one of the secret porthole rooms. The one that is the cost of an inside cabin but is really on the outside. I hope they like it... I keep reading that people don't like the 3 day because by the time they get used to the ship it is time to get off. But, since they have been on both the Magic and Wonder there is no worry about them getting used to everything.

I'll let you know about the dinner. They also have early seating.
Have a great night... I'm sure the weather there is nice. We had a great day her in Baltimore nice and cool for a change. Opening day for the Ravens this weekend and it should be 72...:cool1:

talk to you soon

Good morning Marsha and Jen,
well it is hot again today. Marsha your probably hot too. Cant wait for it to cool off some

Jen, I am a new scrapper!!! I love it. I just finished a memory book for my mom and gave it to her labor day weekend when we went to visit for a few days. She lives in Oregon. I had my brothers write down some memories of growing up and send me copie sof all the old photos they could find and I wrote down stuff too with my photos. I put it all together into a book along with a few poems for her and we had 4 or 5 pictures of her while she was young that i included. Any memory that didnt have a photo I did research to find photos of the places and added those. I was 57 pages when it was done.
quite a project for my first real try at doing anything. I did a album of my one doggie for practice and now I have 2 doggies so I have to make one for the other dog and I have 2 cruises to do before my November cruise so I have lots of disney things for those books.
So I now use the camera a lot some of the odd angles or odd places for photos are great for scrapbooking.
When I see Chris and your daughter I will remind him, TAKE PHOTOS!!! i will be happy to take a few of the 2 of them around the ship if they want. My husband takes great photos, so he could take a few of them too. Just tell your husband to keep the camera on him around the ship, including the meet and we will make sure you get some photos of the both of them for your scrapbooking.
Have you been scrapping for very long or are you a beginner like me??

Marsha, hope your not working too hard this week. Hope to hear from you this weekend.

I got so busy last night I didnt get to watch the Wonder pull out.:confused3
I love to watch the ships pull out each week, it keeps the excitement going.

anyone have plans for the weekend???

Kathy

Good Morning Kathy,

I'm not new to scrapbooking. I have been scrapping for about 9 years now. (started when Mackenzie was born) I have been published in two different scrapbooking magazines too. I LOVE it, I love looking at all the photos and thinking back to the wonderful memories. I'm a little behind on my albums. I try to do an album for each trip. But, hey how many pictures can you have of the castle.:wizard: Now, I just take one day at a time. This week I finished up my daughter's first day of school for the last two years...

Now I try to think of ideas like the last album I was working on has to do with our favorites. Each day while on vacation I wrote down our favorite thing for the day and then took a picture of it to scrap. So, we now have our favorite place to eat, shop and ride. That was fun...after all we have tons of pictures with my daughter and Mickey.

Thanks for the offer to take pictures. I will make sure Chris gives you the camera. I told him about your offer for the seating and he said that would be great. As long as you guys don't mind having a 9 year old at the table.

I looked up the pirate place on the internet. pirate: They seemed to like the idea. They might check it out. Thanks again for the info.

Chris has season tickets to the Ravens games. I don't usually go but my brother-in-law can't make this game so some how I got roped into going...:confused3

Other then that just a nice relaxing time at home. We might do some yard work since the weather is suppose to be cool here...

Sorry to hear it will be hot there... When in November is your cruise? We will be in WDW the first weekend in November. I can't wait, I'm going through Mickey withdraw right now...our last trip was in July.:sad2:

Have a nice day! princess:

Howdy,

our cruise is after Thanksgiving, 11/24/07. it is a great time to go, prices are cheaper the week after a holiday most of the time and soemtimes we even get a florida resident discount.
To link dinner seating for all of us I will need you to give me your reservation number and the full legal name on the reservation, meaning if your husbands name is Christopher not chris on the ressies I need to know.
But dont post your information, you can PM me from this board. send to
mom x4,grandma x4 or e-mail it to me at sixtoedfrog@yahoo.com You dont want your reservation number out there for everyone to see or I can send you my reservation number and name and you can call DCL and ask them to link dinner reservations if your not comfortable with giving out your information. either way will work, Marsha and I are linked already.

although it wouldnt do anybody any good to have the ressie numbers. But i do understand how some are cautious about any numbers nowadays. We can do this anytime between now and 2 months prior to the cruise. It is up to you to choose when and how you want to do this.

as far as having a 9 year old at dinner , that is ok by us. we love kids, ours are all grown and most live 3500 miles away, all our grandkids live in Oregon too, so we welcome a young lady to visit with during dinner and i'm sure Marsha will welcome her too. She is a very nice lady.

Of course she may not like us OLD people at the table with her??:rolleyes1 we will probably seem boring!! although I can talk about disney with the best of them!! My youngest use to work for the mouse, so I know a lot about Mickey and Goofy since he was a personal friend with them, Stitch too!! Goofy even gave me an awesome Christmas card one year!!;)
By cruise time we may have someone her age at the table too, you never know, we have several months to go, I'm sure others will join us before the cruise gets here.

Marsha is working late all week so perhaps you will hear from her this weekend. Her job takes her out of town often so she posts when she can.

Maybe we can zip over and meet you when you come to WDW the first part of November?? Marsha goes there a lot too. it would be fun if the 3 of us could meet for a few minutes one day. I wont keep you but a few minutes. I know every minute of vacation at WDW is precious!! Time flies so fast and there is so much to do!! I do NOT want to keep you from your vacation !! Just a quick hello somewhere.

In the winter we go almost every weekend to one of the parks.
we can talk about that more when the time gets closer.

catch ya later,
kathy

HAPPY SATURDAY !!!!

well I hope to remember to watch the Magic pull out this evening and to watch the Wonder tomarrow. I love doing that.

Jen,
is your daughter doing a countdown chain or a door sign this time?? I love making door signs.
since I have no little ones left at home we dont do the chains but I am tempted to make one for my November cruise without telling my husband just to see what he says when he comes home and sees it hanging there.
I already have King Louie hanging from our chandelier over the table with a pirate map under his arm.

I have lots of stuffed disney animals all around my table in the dining room They are having a pirate party with items from the pirate party on the ship.
I change their outfits for each holiday that comes along.

Obviously we never eat in that room, only in the kitchen eating area.

well off to the farmers market for some fresh produce this morning,

kathy

Good Morning,

We have a clip board that we decorated with Disney scrapbook paper. It has a chalk board attached with a saying "countdown to Disney." But, right now it is counting down to our trip in November. We made a door sign for the last trip off of the last thread. We will work on another one for this trip. A chain is a great idea...I will have to suggest that to her. She loves to scrapbook and do anything crafty.

Her and Dad are going to have a blast....:yay:
I can't wait for this trip.

A November meet sounds great. I'll PM you our schedule for the weekend.

We are taking my parents on this trip. We took them the year before and they had a blast. That was their first trip to WDW. When I was a child we went to Disneyland because I have an Aunt that lives in LA. We went at Christmas which was beautiful. Ever since that trip my Dad wants to hide in my suitcase. We are going to the MNSSHP too...

Well you have fun at the farmers market. Talk to you soon.

Hi Kathy
I am still around and sorry I'm not keeping up here. As you know things are a little hectic for me right now <G>

Good thing is this time next week I will be in the DCL terminal getting ready to sail for 7 nights WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For now I am keeping my booking for the March cruise. Not sure where I will be, what I will doing, or how finances will be.... However I am not giving up on going in March unless I absolutely absolutely absolutely have to <G>

I really hope this fall when weather cools down we can meet at one of the parks. Tell Minnie and Pixie hi, oh yeah and Greg too LOL.

later

Marsha,
good to hear from ya. :thumbsup2
Greg is jealous you leave for your cruise on his birthday, while he will be home mowing the grass and scooping the doggie poo:lmao:
I will be watching as you pull out!!!

Jen,
I hope your daughter will do a chain. They are fun and countdown until the cruise. we did ours with the numbers of days of course but also did Disney stickers or funny sayings on some of the links too. Each morning we pull off another link!!!
My friend has 6 kids and she sent me a photo of their chain, it was for 15 months and it went all around the hallway, livingroom and the kitchen before it ended. each day a different kid pulled off a chain. They really enjoyed it.

well my son is coming over later today, so maybe we will BBQ burgers or something? I am going to make sure I dont miss seeing the Magic pull out this evening!!!:woohoo: :woohoo:

kathy

can't believe i leave on saturday for 7 night. seems like this time would never come, esp with all the personal hits i have taken recently. but nothing is going to pull me down and not enjoy this next cruise.

then i have to find a way to still go in March. Knowing me as stubborn as I can be, I will find a way and still go in March and Sept 2008.

It will be hard to keep me from going on more Disney cruises <G>

nite all

Morning ladies,

Marsha I am confident you will make all the cruises you have planned:thumbsup2

I am happy for you for next saturday , however I am jealous too;)
