Early part of May Park Hours

What number/e-mail does one use to complain to Disney? DH and I are going May 2 - 10 and we are very upset that MK is only open til 7pm every night we are there. It wouldn't be so upsetting if they had at least one e-ride night. I am hoping they change the hours too - reading the posts the past week or so, I understand that the crowds have been unbearable so why would they do this to their patrons? Please accept my apologies (I'm venting also):

You are not alone. We'll be there May 2-10 (leaving the a.m. of the 10th). I'm disappointed about the Spectromagic as I haven't been to Disney for many years and fondly remember the "Main Street Electrical Parade".

Will there still be fireworks at Epcot? If so, do you know what days and what time?

Well we are screwed, we are there May 14-17 nothing going on. There goes the MK fireworks cruise I booked for the 16th and the ps at CG times w/fireworks! Boo Hoo HOo.

Any suggestions from anyone? What can we do in place of the cruise? Can we still take the cruise but is it any good without the FW?

LaWalz,

Thanks for letting me know about Illuminations! I was hoping for some kind of fireworks while we are there.

So how does Fire in the Sky differ from Illuminations?

Thanks!

I have been going to Disney for the last 6 years and I can say Disney's hours have always flutuated. I think it is very disappointing that Spectro Magic and the Fireworks at MK won't be held, or that is what they are saying now. I will miss seeing these things, but I won't let that ruin my vacation. It is encouraging to see that the hours for Epcot still have remain the same 9-9 from past years. It is also encouraging to see that MGM is open to 9pm. In all the years that I have gone I don't think I ever remember MGM being open later than 9 (at least the times I have been). I have never gone during the summer or at peak times. Although AK is only open to 5pm, this is a park that by 5pm you probably have done everything. At point you could run over to MGM or Epcot and enjoy the night show there. Also, if you need to get a fireworks fix while at MK, you could hop on the monorail to Epcot and get your fix there. Try to enjoy your time while you are there, while adapting to the hours. A great plan, can make for a great vacation.

I've been trying all morning to get on the disney web site for the May hours and kept getting error message--so I turned to my favorite board and lo and behold found this thread of fellow upset May visitors. I must be the jinx as this is my fourth trip and I have yet to see the nightime MK parade or fireworks. I'm so disappointed and my kids are going to be so sad. They only found out we were going last weekend and have taken over the cpmputer trying to plan their days. I really would like to complain to someone at Disney but thanks for allowing me to vent and for all your other helpful tips.

This same thread is running on the resorts board also and someone posted that last year or the year before the same thing happened when the events for May were first released and she was very dissappointed. But while she was there they did end up having a spectro magic parade the first sunday in May. So I guess we still have hope. I'm with DNBois though. I'd still like to have a number or address to complain if we do miss out on this particular Disney magic. Spectro is our favorite thing there.

Moby, Fantasy in the Sky is basically just fireworks but Illuminations has a whole story to go with it. If you have a view of the lagoon (I think that is what it is called) then there is a giant globe with pictures. And don't forget about Fantasmic at MGM, limited amount of fireworks but in my opinion it is the best show at WDW. It is with Sorcerer Mickey. He has a bad dream with all the evil characters but then good triumps over bad and all the good characters appear as well.

Here are the hours I was told for May 2 to May 11.

Magic Kingdom Hours May 2-9 9am to 7pm, May 10 9am-9pm
Share A Dream Come True Parade May 1-31 3pm
No Spectromagic
Fantasy In The Sky Fireworks only May 10 at 9pm

Epcot 9am to 9pm
IllumiNations 9pm

MGM Studios May 2-3 9am-8:30pm May 4-10 9am-9pm
Fantasmic May 1-3 8:30pm May 4-24 9pm

Animal Kingdom May2-10 9am-5pm
Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade May 1-31 4pm

What a bummer so far about SpectroMagic. I really wanted my dd to see it. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they will add some shows.

We just got back from WDW March 21-25th. They added an extra hour at MK on Saturday and Monday nights to bring it to a 9pm closing. They do add things last minute. However, at peak times (peak $$) us Disney nuts would like the parks to be open later:) I have been the first week of December (a very slow time) when Epcot closed at 10pm. I have been in October when MGM closed at 10pm. I know, I have the old maps. AK used to open at 8am and at peak times closed at 8pm. I for one would LOVE to see that park at night. The walkways have so many cool lights! MK in the summer used to be open till 12am or 1am! Wow-how cool is that? The main reason some of us wish for the longer hours are we like to go back to the hotel and relax and then come back to the park at night. With shorter hours this is hard to do.

I have to say PatriciaH my family and I are in complete agreement with you. We love the parks at night. I wish they would stay open til after dark all the time. The lights just make it that much more magical. That's probably why we love spectro so much. It gave us a chance to be in the MK after dark. I will keep wishing and hoping the schedule changes for all of us April/May guests.

O.k., so we're bummed. Now I am wondering about this hope for fireworks on Sunday the 3rd. It's our first evening there, and we are not resort guests nor do we plan to use passes. Is there anyplace we might be able to see the fireworks should they appear? Too late for any PS's I would think. Thanks for all your info and advice. Quite frankly, I'm just glad to be finally going...it's been 10 years!!

You could still view fireworks from Contemporary 4th floor observation deck couldn't you? Park at the TTC and take the monorail. Nice way to pass the time. I'm also hoping for fireworks on May 3rd.

Me too! Someone sprinkle some pixie dust on May 3rd!! Please??

May 3rd would make my heart happy!!

Come on Disney we'll keep our part of the bargin and stay Poly CLV, spend enormous amounts of money for 8 days a numerous things, if you'll give us 1 little night of MK fireworks!!

PLEASE!!

I still want to stay on the upbeat side. My daughter and I have been going the same time for the past 9 years. Things can change as we all know, both positive and negative. We like to go to MK in the evening as well as E-nights!!! It's a waiting game now. On the positive side.... we do begin our vacation, at USF and will be staying at the HRH. Yahoo !!!

You'll get your fireworks on Saturday - just no spectromagic parade.

Don't worry people. I doubt that they will eliminate Spectro Magic in May. They'll have it on Saturday nights at the very least (hopefully Sunday on Grad weekend).

Keep the faith baby!
