We will be taking our 3rd trip to WDW June 7-13. Previous trips have always been Oct - Dec. The heat was never a factor. Please tell me how hot is hot for early June and do they have showers every day? This information is important because DD #2 is diabetic and the heat affects her glucose levels. Nothing we can't handle but planning is vital. Thanks

It is hot and humid in the afternoons, and usually a thunderstorm, then hot again. Be prepared in case of a freaky year - last year it rained almost constanly in June.

I agree. It is hot and humid! Clouds come in in the afternoons and there could be a downpour or two. Nothing that can't be handled with a poncho or umbrella or a wait under cover if you forgot a poncho (we did once and stayed in the Mexico Pavillion for a while during the downpour!!!).

This is our third visit in early June. I like it because the water parks are so much more enjoyable during this time vs. the fall. (I hate getting in freezing water!!!:D ) Those misty fans work great to cool oneself down with the heat; you may want to bring some along especially for DD. We also take breaks in the afternoons for pool time during the hottest time of the day.

Have a great trip! We will be there then, also!

I loved going in June last year...I will miss not going this year. However, it is hot! I'm not sure how it would compare to October, but I would think it would only be a little hotter than at that time. It does rain nearly everyday, but that cools things off quite a bit!

We have gone to Disney the first or second week of June for the past 5 years. Last year, it rained during the afternoon of everyday we were in Florida, except one day. The temperatures ranged from 92-94 degrees, but the humidity makes the temperatures feel more extreme. My friends took their 7 year old diabetic daughter to Disney a couple of years ago during the same time period, and she did fine. They made an appointment with her Endocrinologist two weeks before they left. Her sugar levels remained fairly close to normal because of all the walking, and all the water that she drank. They did go back to their room for a short break in the afternoon. They were also able to refrigerate her insulin at the Parks. The times she had problems with highs was during the traveling periods from Texas to Florida.
I guess because of the inactivity and excitement. Hope this helps!

We will be there June8-13 and hope the weather is good for us a whole week with no kids Woo-Hoo

We went 3 years ago with our son who has diabetes and found that his food requirements and insulin demands changed a considerable amount. He needed to eat much more frequently, 2 snacks in the AM a large lunch, 2 snacks in the PM a large dinner and a before bed snack. We also had to drop his insulin a couple of units. He is normally an active teenager, plays soccer wrestles and swims so it had to have been the heat and the excitement that changed. We also found that there just weren't that many places to get food especially in the AM. Nothing was open before about 10:30/11. This was especially hard at early entry. When on vacation we like to let him have treats from the parks for snacks so we only had a few emergency rations in the backpack the first day and ran out before anything was open. We were on the JUngle Cruise and he had a bad low we gave him 2 juices a granola bar and was still only in the 60's. I ran all over adventure and frontier land and was headed back to main street when I finally found someone opening a store who gave me some candy ( she was lovely and refused to take any payment when she saw how stressed I was at being unable to find ANYTHING for him to eat) That being said we had a wonderful time and are going back this JUne . Good luck and have fun on your trip.

It is funny to read other posts from people who were there the same time we were. Opinions can vary greatly. We were in WDW the second week of June in 2001 and the first week of June in 2002. It is a very nice time to go. In 2001 crowds were heavy but very manageable. In 2002, in was very crowded (much more than expected), but we had planned carefully and managed to get a lot done. The weather both years was VERY HUMID. The heat didn't bother us as much as the humidity. The humidity is very noticeable all day long. We did not experience much rain on either trip. In 2001, it rained pretty heavily for one afternoon, and 2 other days we had a brief afternoon shower, but that was it. In 2002, it rained one night and one saturday for about 3 hours, and one or two other very brief humidity showers. A lot of people claim that it rained all the time when they were there in June 2002, but we didn't experience it.

Hope this helps!

We were there for the first 2 weeks of June 2002 and I don't remember it raining everyday either. We went to Clearwater beach for 2 days without a drop of rain.

I remember a few short afternoon showers but nothing that affected our plans.

We got the rain. We were there the last 11 days of June and it rained every day and had been raining for weeks before we arrived. We never went to the water parks, Sea World or USF, mostly because we had AP and didn't want to pay the extras to be miserable at the other places. We did the best we could and our sneakers were never dry. Grandson got in the pool for about 5 minutes for maybe 2 or 3 days, in between storms. When it's pouring at 6:00 AM you know it's a bad sign. I don't believe this was normal weather and wouldn't hesitate to go again, but this year we decided on the last of July (23-2). It's really nasty when you pouncho sticks to you because you're sweating under it, but didn't want to walk around in soaking clothes either.

Thanks for the information. I was hoping it wasn't quite so hot as you all described but who knows maybe we'll get cooler weather this year. Ohio Viking where do live? We live in a Columbus suburb and my wife is 1/2 norweigan and 1/2 swedish. We figure we will try not to do as much and spend more time at the resort than our late fall trips. We have experienced some hot weather on one of our trips ( 1st week of Sept 1999) but that was before our daughter was diagnosed. We feel we can handle the heat with her as long as we prepare. Hope everyone has a fantastic time. We'll be staying at WL so look us up.

Hi disneyrunner, My husband is all norwegian, moved here about 30 years ago from all around Europe. We live in Lima now. Met and lived in Perrysburg for about 15 years before that. Our oldest son was diagnosed with diabetes when he was 6years old and is 17 now so if you have any other questions just ask. I think we have had just about any weird situation you can have with him and his diabetes. This will be our third trip with him and his diabetes and after the first day or two we relax and have the new schedule figured out but that is true any time his routine changes whether it is the start of school or the beginning of a new season for sport. MY son is reading over my shoulder and his only comment is don't stress and have a good time.

It's Good to see all the Ohio people on the boards.
We will be at csr June 8-13 so if anyone has any questions on what we have found in our planning just ask :jester:

We typically for the first week of June every year with our two DD's. We are planning a trip this year as well. Actually just myself and the DD's, DW is opening a new office for the Optomitrist that she works for and they open the week before our trip so they suggested that she stay. She suggested that I go ahead and go with the kids.

Anyway we enjoy going this time of year. We spend the morning at a park and then come back and swim for a while and then spend the evening out at a park or Downtown Disney. There is always usually a brief shower during the afternoon, it's Florida.
