Early July....?

Due to several factors, our next holiday is likely to be at the beginning of July next year....in the past we've always been more "low season". So I know it will be hotter, maybe wetter, and busier. Has anyone any experiences of going at this time? Has the USA summer break started by then? I know it will be busy 4th July- is this just a one-day celebration (we don't mind having one day avoiding the parks) or is it best to avoid the whole week?

thanks in advance

Lindsey

I know it is a bit after you want to know but we went on 16th July and it was fine. We hardly had any rain after I had been telling the family to expect it every day. It was hot and humid but we liked it. I know it was a busy time but the crowds didn't bother us because we got to the parks before they opened and had everything done in a few hours. The crowds seemed to hit the parks at about 11 am.

The American schools are off in early July I believe, not a 100 per cent on that.

We have always gone in February before but still loved it just as much in July. It beats coming back to snow and cold weather too.

Thanks Bev that's encouraging- we are definitely going then but I like to know what to expect!
Hopefully I can find out something about 4th July celebrations too....

Lindsey, run a search for 4th July in this forum. I am sure someone asked a similar question a while ago. :)

I went in 2001 and flew on the 4th.

The first week was busy, but by no means unbearable.
The queues weren't exceptionally long and the mood at the parks was geat.

You should have a great holiday and the celebrations make it a little more special.

we have to go at this time of year due to husbands job and school holidays and it is just fine. We have also been in October and although it was not a humid we coped in July and our son has breathing problems to.

The only thing we felt was on the 4th you couldn't get near a restaurant really really busy but the crowds in the parks and the queues weren't bad at all (didn't go to the parks on the 4th though) . worst I would say this year was a wait of 90 mins and that was for one of the really popular rides. some of them we hardly queued at all. Sooooooooo don't worry just go and enjoy yourselves and take fact 60 :rotfl:

LindseyUK - I went on the 1st July this year, having gone in September for the previous 3 years and I have to say I LOVE JULY!!!

It was busy, but if you plan your time and use the fast passes you should be fine. :grouphug:

We did all the parks inc Universal, Seaworld and Discovery Cove in 14 days. :faint:

The 4th July is fantastic for fireworks - I even get goose bumps thinking about it! We ate at the Polynesian Resort and then sat on their beach with a glass of wine and watched the fireworks from there. :drinking:

If you want any further info just let me know :flower:

We have been 3 times end of June into July, firstly it is usually fairly quiet at the beginning and gets busier the nearer to the 4th however we go to Epcot on the 4th as it is quiet through the day (1st time did Mk it was awful) epcot starts to fill up in the evening as people come in for the fireworks which are amazing, they do the usual bit then some more which blew us away. The characters were dressed in colonial outfits and there is a really nice atmosphere. Probably a good idea to get a PS for an evening meal early as you need to stake out your viewing area for the fireworks early.

It is hot and sweaty but just take things slowly lots of drinks (if in a villa freeze some water bottles overnight ) take advantage of air conditioned shows at the hottest parts of the day and remember most afternoons you will get a storm with heavy rain so take your ponchos!!
