Planned to do early entry today so the kids could do HRRR. Hotel said it opens at 8. We get to the gate and was told early entry at 8:30 and only for Jimmy neutron and Shrek. OK we thought so we would be close to front for the coaster when the park opened, not so. The normal morning testing pushed back the opening untill after 10 and they moved the line three times.

My complaint here is that you would think they would do all there testing early to guarantee a 9 am opening. My understanding is that this happenes often.

Had I known all this I would have another Potter early opening instead.

Just venting.

There's no excuse for the ride not being ready every morning at opening. You should vent to the hotel for giving you ridiculously bad information that anyone on here would have known was false and guest services at USO for the poor management of the ride.

When we were there, it wasn't running at the beginning of the day either.

The one day we DID go on (at opening), our ride stopped mid way thru. They ended up shutting it down to get it straightened out.

They DO do test runs before park opening.

If there's a problem, they can't open it. If they did, people who were standing there waiting for it to be open, would be just as mad they were standing there waiting....be it 15 min, 45 min, or 2 hours.

I can understand your frustration, but if there's a problem, there's a problem.

Not much they can do but fix it.

Early entry in any case is only for Islands of Adventure. The 8:30 opening at Universal is for anyone and is done as a courtesy. If you have any complaint at all it should be with whoever it was at the hotel who didn't explain that to you.

Wow - think I've been taking a snooze because I didn't realize that HRRR was still having so many problems! We were there exactly 1 year ago when they were trying to get the thing open. We saw it running w/ staff only for a few days and were hopeful that we'd get a chance to ride (multiple times) this year.

We'll get there first thing one of our mornings, but thanks for the heads-up that there's really no need to get there earlier than official park opening.

When we were there in earlier July, the park 'officially' opened at 9am.

The turnstiles 'unofficially' opened at 8:40am.

We were there 8:50am one day and there was already a long line.

I would go before the 'official' opening time since they seem to be opening earlier....that is, if you don't want a really long line at HRRR

we were there wed and thurs park opened at 7:30 went straight to HP and that was the only section open!

I think that 7:30 is even earlier than regular early entry for IOA so that might be why. HRRR is over at that other park though so the situation sounds confusing.

thanks
it was working only 1/2 the time we were there my family did single riders and were in and out in less than 15 minutes! they really liked it!
