Early entry at MK question

If you're NOT staying at a wdw property, are you able to enter the park early but not tap into any attractions until 9, or are you held at the entrance to the park and not able to enter until 9?

everyone can enter through the tapstyles and go to main street. somewhere around the hub they will do a separate check for resort guests.
