Early Child Tax.

Hi. Just wandering if anyone else noticed it. I was at a banck machine tonight(Sat.) just to check my account and by the looks of it, the Child Tax came in early. This NEVER happens unless the 20th is on a Sat. or Sun. Or else I have been a good girl this month and didn't spend as much.

I just checked and I got mine also But mine always comes on the 18th so I guess that's why I got it a day early!

I always get it early when the 20th is a Monday as well. Because it needs to be there first thing in the morning, the only way for that to happen is for it to be deposited over night on Friday. Not sure if all banks do it this way, just know mine does!!

Yes, it's the old baby bonus. You qualify depending on how much you make.


OP - you might want to check the date as sometimes it gets posted but you can't touch it until the 20th.

Hey quick question. My wife an I just had our 3rd child. Someone told me the child tax credit jumps to almost 200 a month. With 2 kids we were only getting about 20 dollars a month.

yep it went in early and we thought it was only there in theory but due to unfortunate tire issues and dh using the wrong pin number we used some of it this weekend to help pay for the new tire...stupid nails lol...

Anyhow I was glad he didn't use the vacation fund this time!

Joe Dirt 1972 - I think you do get a supplement for more children, not sure how much it is but the total amount you get is based on your income. The more you make, the less you get.

It should be at least $100/month for each child under 6 no matter your income. Don't they still have the Universal Child Care Credit? My DS is 7 now, but when he was under 6 I got the $100/m UCCC, even though I made too much for the regular baby bonus.

The Ontario Child Benefit consists of 3 sections

Canada Child Tax Benefit
National Child Benefit Supplement
Ontario Child Benefit

Not too sure how they figure it out but check the website www.cra.gc.ca/benefits and it will give you a calculator to see what you will qualify for.

Hi again. Souldn't the rule be- the older the child gets, the more money you recieve.?

You would think that would make more sense but it does not work that way! I know my kids cost WAY more now than when they were under the age of 6.

yes but by now they can get part-time jobs and pay for their own "brand name" stuff

This is for school only - not "brand name" stuff. You have to pay a student fee, year book fee, athletic fee, art fee (if you take art), gym class fee (if you take gym), fee for a locker, fee for your student card. It is endless.

My kids have part time jobs but they save all there money - I still pay for everything for them. But that works for us and I have no problems doing it. But my kids can only have P/T jobs because we are well off and can get them to and from their job. If I had to work my kids could not because they would not have any possible way to get to and from work. We have a 16 year old kid who lives with his Dad in one of our rental houses - there is no way he could work because he has no way to get to work. We live in rural ontario, there is no transportation and kids can not even drive until they are almost 17 years old and that is if they or their parents can afford the $700 for drivers ed.

I am saying for those who are struggling and need to use the Child Tax Benefit to get by, it would be more beneficial to them when there kids are older.

Oh great ~ is that what I have to look forward to? My kids are Gr 4 & 5 so i better start saving now!
