EARLY CHECK IN: December 15th, 2007 - Seven night Western - 12/15/07

No problem Stacie. John keeps me side tracked too. Maggie really acts like she feels some better, though not 100%. She's still not eating though. That is a huge concern.

Thanks to all of you for your kinds words, pixie dust, and prayers. I'll take it all!!

Stacie, I'm so glad you mentioned a refrigerator. We'll need one too. John is still nursing, so I'll be taking my pump. We'll need a real one for that. We'll have to call about that soon. Thanks for the reminder. Hopefully we'll get a better CM.

Good night everyone.

Stacie...now I must apologize to you. I meant to mention your dog. I actually woke at 4 am b/c the baby monitor wasn't on and it was too quiet. I realized I had not mentioned your dog in my post. I'm sorry you guys are facing a decision too. It's so hard when pets have been a part of your life for so long.

Today's blood work is not encouraging. Here is a photo. I'm sad that I don't have a good one of Maggie and John.

Susan--Duh! I forgot to say that we'll praying for your family and your dog. I got so excited to hear baby news and got sidetracked. One of our dogs is 17 (DH got him for me for Christmas when I was a senior in high school), he's seen better days, and we've been struggling to decide something with him for months, he is now confined to one room because he can't be trusted in other parts of the house. Sorry I was so insensitive.

My TA called DCL today to double check a couple things and got the crabbiest CM ever. My TA asked about the refrigerator for the baby formula and the CM said "there's a cooling box, that should be good enough" so we sent the medical form to the pediatrician to have her fill it out stating that DS needs his formula refrigerated not just cooled. My TA also asked about dinner seating, the CM said that we couldn't have a table of 9, just 8, even though one would be a high chair (last cruise we had a table of 13). My TA said she'd call back in a couple days and double check that those things had been taken care of. What a crabby CM!

I found the CVS in Key West, it's on Duval Street Here's the map:http://cvsstore.geoserve.com/scripts/esrimap.dll?Name=L&Com=rc&Mode=0&Db=DLRCvs&Ds=Store&Ci=KEY+WEST&St=FL&Cn=US&Sd=8368&Ux=-81775208&Uy=24562840&Cx=-81806853&Cy=24560823&Rw=76000&Ox=-81775207&Oy=24562839&Oux=-81775208&Ouy=24562840&Ow=273600&Pw=438&Ph=300&DLix=0&ARN=34706&MCA=popup&Val=45600&Map.x=231&Map.y=148

I hope they get the table situated. We were looking forward to dining with you. I guess as long as the tables are close together that would work too.

I was reading a thread the other day about Key West and Shirley was on there saying that you don't want to rent an electric car there because the parking was bad. She said that there is something more like a golf cart that you can rent though that would work better.

Thanks for the CVS link, Stacie! One less thing to worry about carrying on to the ship. I'm torn between trying to pack light and really living it up, with stuff for Pirate Night, and lights and a tiny tree for Christmas - I can just see DH passing out when I stack my luggage by the front door. Buying water, etc in Key West will help with some of that bulk.

What's a cooling box, anyway? Anyone know?

BTW - I got my PassPorter in the mail (yay!) and it's the 4th edition, not the 5th, which I think is the most current one. It still has fabulous information, but some stuff like the shore excursions is out of date. Still, if anyone wants to take a look at it, let me know.

One of our dogs is 17 (DH got him for me for Christmas when I was a senior in high school), he's seen better days, and we've been struggling to decide something with him for months...

That's incredible in so many ways...you've known your husband for over half your life, you were dating him in high school, and your dog has had an amazingly long life. Best wishes for your dog, too, Stacie...

We've found that the "cooling box" (looks like a fridge but no freezer, and no temperature adjuster) is good for keeping cold things cold. If you get pop at the beverage station it will keep it cold, it will keep desserts cold, it keeps fruit cold, it wouldn't be cold enough for baby formula, or even regular milk.

DH and I have known each other since 1st grade, we started dating in 9th, now we're coming up on our 16th anniversary. I guess that's what happens when you grow up in a small town.

I think I have the website updated, if you find that I've left something out please let me know and I'll fix it. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

We finally got our plane tickets purchased today!!! I'm excited.

We'll get in on Dec 14th at 2:46pm
We leave on Dec 22nd at 3:50pm

It was 258

Susan: we're so sorry to hear about your dog. We'll be keeping you in our thoughts. We had to send our dog, Buttons, on his way when he was a month shy of 18. My sister had gotten him when she was 4 and he was 2. He was essentially my big brother. My mom said that when I was born and started crying, he would run to get her and herd her into my room.

Stacie: the same prayers go out to y'all.

Scuba divers: are y'all bringing your wetsuits? I was talking to a friend of mine who lives in Tampa and suggested I take my 3mm long suit for the trip. I'm still debating...that sucker would take up tons of room in my luggage. Room I need for souvenirs! Maybe I'll ship it down before hand.

I finally figured out what I'll be doing after the cruise. Since flights were so much cheaper, I'll be staying in the Orlando area. My friend from Tampa and I are going to at least spend 1 day at WDW, possibly 2. I fly out the 24th around 3:10 PM. The tickets were only $360 with all the taxes and such. To fly back the 22nd would be around $500. I have to fly to Orlando the morning of the 15th (at 6 AM....:scared1: ) since my friend's wedding is the 14th at 5 PM. Being a bridesmaid and all, I can't really skip it. So instead, I have the delight to be at the airport at 4:30 AM to catch my 6 AM flight, getting into Orlando around 11:30. I really hope that's not too late. I'll probably take the DCL transfers to the port. My parents are going to probably fly in the day before and stay near the airport so we all get to the port together.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend!

Stacie...that is pretty amazing the you and your husband have known each other and been together so long. My brother married his high school sweetheart, but they didn't meet until 10th grade or so. I hope your dog is feeling better.

Maggie just has us stumped. Everyone says we'll know when she's ready to go. She'll act listless and we'll think she's ready to go, then she'll perk up. However, her skin is yellow, so that's not a good sign.

On a good note, DD finally learned to ride her 2 wheeler (bike w/out training wheels) with confidence. Now we'll probably rent bikes in Castaway Cay. She thought she could just take her own.

I'd like to start a cruise pile for packing, but our temps are in the 90's this week, so we're still wearing our cruise attire.

Have a great week everyone.
Susan

I'm fairly new to diving myself but know quite a few experienced divers. So far the advice I've received is that a wet suit is not needed down there. If anything a 3mm shorty should be more than enough.

At least for the first dive I'm planning on a t-shirt. If that doesn't work out too well then I'll rent a suit for the second.

Just bumping us back up to the front page.

It's been a crazy week here. Andy has some sort of something going on. He hasn't been sleeping very well at all. We thought it was just teeth, then he started in with vomitting and diarrhea. We went the Dr. today and everything checked out ok, so he's on rice cereal and Isomil DF for a few days.

What does everyone think of the rumors that DCL is going to Alaska and Hong Kong in 2009 and 2010? I'm glad to hear that the Wonder will be doing 3/4/7 night cruises during the summers. We have our Double Dip for Thanksgiving '08 booked, and then I'm not sure that we'll be cruising for awhile. It will be hard to pull DS out of school. We also have to go west (Grand Canyon/Yellowstone) and east (Williamsburg/Boston) before DS graduates so we have three summers left. Maybe we'll wait until the new ships come out and take DS for a graduation present (except he'll be 18, no Stack for him). We're also thinking about having another little one so Andy doesn't grow up alone. Who knows, we'll probably end up rebooking on board and then just keep pushing our reservation out until we find a date that works.

Enough rambling form me. Hope everyone is having a good week. I think it is finally fall here, high of 86 on Sunday, 76 yesterday, 56 today.

Stacie, I hope Andy is feeling better! Wow, possibly another one. I'm exhausted just thinking about that. :)

Susan, how is Maggie doing?

How many people we up for an exchange? I lost track somewhere in there and want to start looking.

Hi Cristi ~ Maggie is actually better. On Monday, she was yellow from jaundice and I had all but given up. I called the vet and told them that we'd just support her from home with fluids. He called back with the offer of another drug, kind of a last ditch effort. It's a human drug that I picked up from the pharmacy. Apparently, it's working. Maggie has been holding down boiled chicken and rice since Monday evening. She's gotten most of her spunk back. Since I've been cooking for her all week, she'll probably never eat dry dog food again.

Were you referring to the stocking exchange mentioned earlier? I think we would be up to providing some small things. Maggie's vet bill kind of broke our budget.

Stacie ~ How is Andy? It's so hard when the little ones are sick. I hope he's feeling better soon. We aren't considering another one. We'll just have to make sure they both have lots of friends!!

It's finally feeling like Autumn here. Today's high is 68. I tried to wear a sweatshirt yesterday, but it was a little too warm for that.

We're almost at the 2 MONTH mark!!! Can you believe it?:cheer2:

Susan--Great news about Maggie. You're right, she probably won't want to eat dry dog food again, but it's great that she's doing so well.

Cristi--I kind of lost count on the stocking thing, I'll go back through this weekend and get a count, I don't think it's a whole lot.

We're not sure about having another baby, there are so many kids in our neighborhood his age, but our other two are so close and we don't want him to miss out on that. Who knows, we change our minds daily.

Andy is at least sleeping better. His vommitting is gone but still having lots of yucky pants, I'm pretty sure it's his teeth. We're keeping him on the special formula through the weekend, hopefully it will work itself out.

DS has his last band contest tomorrow, it's supposed to rain most of the day (in fact most of the week) so I'm not sure we'll go or not.

DH bought a couple of well-used horses and they are coming home tomorrow (actually we're having them boarded down the road) so DD is excited. I don't know who is more excited though, DH or DD, he has always wanted to have animals (like 2 dogs and a cat aren't enough :confused3 ). At least I don't have to take care of them, yet, there is talk of building a barn or stable but we're not doing that until we know that DD likes horses and wants to be actively involved with them. Where they are going to be boarded she can learn basic horsemanship and care in exchange for "working" at the stable.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!! The tickers are looking good!! :cool1:

:cheer2: After 11 innings…Rockies win!!

They now lead the series 2-0...this is incredible!

Go Rockies!!!

Michael beat me to it.

How 'bout those Rockies?!?

On our cruise last March we had several families from St. Louis that were proud World Series Champs. Could I be sailing with champions from Colorado this time????

I am so proud of my boys. :) :cheer2: :cheer2: They are awesome this year! I am really tired though, these late night games are killing me. :) The bad thing is the next games will be late and then I will have to be up and to work by 730. :coffee:

We're actually Indians fans. David lived in Ohio for the first 12 years of his life and we've been there to visit twice. It's not looking so good for the Indians right now. At least you guys aren't pulling for the Red Socks.

Stacie ~ I hope Andy continues to feel better. John goes through phases of sleeping all night. Right now he's decided that sleeping is for the birds.

Good luck with the horses. DD would love them too.
