So today was our online check in day and I got up at the crack of dawn to do it and book the excursions. All worked as it should and I took the earliest port arrival time it offered of 1100. Is that the earliest there is in Barcelona or had some earlier ones already gone?

It is 11 am.

On European Magic cruises the earliest PAT is always 11 am, and embarkation normally starts circa 11.30 a bit later than Port Canaveral.

Now Barcelona cruise port normally opens at 10.30am, people were queuing up there from 10 am on our recent cruises.

Platinum and Concierge do not need to choose PATs and we got on boarding group 1 at 11.30 am.

I'm pleased it is the first slot, thanks.

So if the port opens earlier is it worth getting there for when it opens (and queuing)? Do they process you in the order you should arrive or first come first served?

So

You queue up outside.
Doors open 10.30am.
You filter to your check in desks,
So Concierge, platinum, gold silver etc.
You get a Boarding card linked to your PAT, or concierge, platinum.

It us hot in that queue there, some of it covered.

My advice.
Do not get there too early.
You will be filtered to checking in and boarding cards, they will not change.

If arriving between 10.30 am and 11.15 am, I think it would gave no effect, whatsoever.

That's great, thanks for all the info and the prompt replies. We will get there early then!

Thinking about it, I am sure that is what we did at Port Canaveral although I don't remember the port opening before the first slot (maybe it did, it seems so long ago!). I do remember queuing outside for a bit though, waiting to for the doors to open so it probably was.

PC embarks Esler from 11.15 normally.

OH YAY, another platinum benefit I can look forward to getting next year on the WBTA! :yay:

thanks for sharing the pictures...
DD has the 11 slot, but they won't want to wait in line very long (her husband broke his back a few years back, so standing for long periods of time is not a good thing)
so i guess, based on suggestions above, she should get there at about 10:45 or so...

Yes, the queue was backed up pre 10.30 am, they opened the terminal doors at 10.30am. Now there are a couple of seats outside where you queue, we were on them post cruise awaiting a pick up. Long metal multiple person bench style.

On opening it moved fast, an ETA 10.45 if your platinum is good, there are chairs inside, it's like a hanger and I would say school essembly style plastic chairs inside to wait.

Now there is a bridge / gangway with an elevator / escalators up from the terminal, to embark on deck three.

Beware it's very very hot on the pier as unprotected bar the queue area.

No one needs to get there pre 10.30 but many do.
