DW ticket sticker shock

Wow!

I just took a look at how much it's going to cost for my family of 5 to go to the parks for our upcoming trip and $1000 for us to go for 2 days or $1500 for 3 days. I'm sure I can find some cheaper options, but not that much cheaper. We can easily save up for it, but I don't know that I want to spend what amounts to $500/day for my family to go. I mean, I can buy a car for 3 days in a park or 3 iPhones or groceries for my family for 3 months.

We had 10 day no expire plus water park and more tickets for the past few trips and are now out of park days, still have 8 "and more" days left. I'm thinking this might be a good trip to hit up the water parks and Disney Quest.

I guess I've just been spoiled by not having to budget for park tickets for the last 4 trips.

That's why we go for 8-10 days...once you hit 5 day tickets, the extra days are next to free (like 8$ per day for each extra day). If I'm going to spend
$800 for two days worth of tickets (4 of us) I might as well stay the extra days and spend $15000 for 10 days worth of tickets.

This is why we do Annual Passes - one trip this year and another one next year before the Passes expire.

One of the reasons why we are doing no-park vacations. I cannot justify $1500 for my family of 4. The prices go up but everything within the park stays the same. If they were adding attractions that warranted the increase...I would be more inclined to pay for it. But, I think it's just idiotic to expect people to pay so much more for so much less...

People spend thousands to go to the same beach year after year and the ocean remains the same. Disney remains my guilty pleasure.

We have the same tickets and are out of theme park visits but have numerous water park days left. If we go next year, we will alternate a water park day then resort day but won't be purchasing additional tickets. We are actually liking the idea of a more relaxing vacation.

You must be adding hopping and waterparks? Tickets for my family of 5 are $1600 for 6 days...we go with base tickets to save a little and hopping just isn't necessary for us.

over the years we stopped doing split trips (Universal/WDW/SeaWorld). It makes more financial sense to get the longest lasting ticket and your per day usage rate goes lower....So we now do either WDW or "other". It will be "other" for the next several trips. In the future, if we do any additional WDW trips it will be maybe 1 park day?? if any. I really wish they offered more choices, like an after 4pm ticket, a 2-park only annual pass like for Epcot and HS. I think you can get a 14 day US/IOA park to park ticket for like $200!! We haven't done Ak for the past three trips and MK was soooooo crowded our last trip, I really wished their were other ticketing options...

But the ocean doesn't raise it's prices while it continues to offer the same (or less, as customer service, hours, and amenities are slashed..).

Don't get me wrong, I love WDW and a no-park vacation is a fantastic guilty pleasure of mine. But I cannot justify the price raises they inflict each year when nothing within the confines of the park has changed enough to warrant those price increases.

So, we stay at their hotel, eat their food, and maximize the pool, the arcade, DtD, and Fort Wilderness. But I cannot/will not pay $1500 for my family of 4 to ride the same rides over and over....

I have found that purchasing an annual pass is the best option if you are able to go at least twice in one year. Otherwise, I have purchased the 10-day no expiration ticket and have found that it usually pays for itself, and then some, over time.

Actually, we used to go to the beach every year. We found it less expensive to go to Disney for a week than to spend a week in a hotel at the beach. And, the prices for hotels have just continued to go up, along with the price of doing things at the beach.

Yes, WDW tickets are very expensive no matter how you slice it, dice it. What works for us is every few years getting APs, then going 3 10day trips in that year's span. We love the F&G Festival so get our AP for April to April, then go once between, around 1st of Dec.

That puts it about $200 ea. a trip, plus unlimited trips to any parks.

There are so many other places we enjoy going on vacations that the two years between APs are thoroughly enjoyed elsewhere.

There have been so many changes the last few years that we don't like at all, that we are talking about going a lot less often anyway.
