DVC'ers without Children...

We just bought into DVC this year and we don't have any kids yet (both in our midish 20s). We may or may not have them in the future though...

I haven't stayed on my points yet, but I haven't been to WDW with kids since I was a kid at 13 :p Been trying to go more regularly since I finished college though and doing a good job of it too ;) So I just go and have fun at the parks, do some shopping and relax. No other place is as good to relax and forget about the world as WDW for me :)

No kids here and we are Disney fans have been part of DVC since early 2000.

We fell in love with the one bedrooms so that is what we bought points for. Love the king size beds, jacuzzi tub, full kitchen, and washer and dryer.

We don't have to do the parks commando style. We try and do something different each time - in May it was the Segway tour.

Being part of DVC means that we get to vacation more often and with much better rooms.

We've used our points to cruise and next year we are looking at using our points at Disneyland.

We go to WDW without our children all the time. We love to eat at the best restaurants they have at WDW. We love to just sit around in the one bedroom and the porch in the evening is great. In the morning we sometimes drive over to BW, that is nice to read the paper and grab something to eat. We spend at the most about 2 hours in any park. We go to movies at night over at DD, also a great place at night is over by the Yacht Club looking out over the water at the reflections from BW. We like to drink at the Poly bar or the bar up at the top of the Contempory. Sometimes we have a drink and a snack over at Dixie Landing and just walk around outside at night it is nice. The boat ride to DD is a lot of fun from OKW..We spend a lot of time at the pools if it is not crowded. There is entertainment at Dixie Landings in the evening. The walks at AK are nice to take, we also walk around EPCOT, the gift shops(ugh). It is a very slow paced vacation for the two of us.

We're DINKS, though it isn't for lack of desire for children.

So, we take our nieces, nephews, friends, other family, et al.

No kids here either! DH likes to golf and like Simba's Mom, I do park stuff while he plays golf (hey Simba's Mom maybe we should plan a trip together sometime!!) and then there is plenty of time to do other stuff. We've done both backstage tours at AK (both are really good!). Hope to do the Segway tour in Oct. We relax and do as the mood hits us. Sometimes we go to the bus stop and the first bus that passes by is the one we get on! We do have favorite restaurants. There are many things we've never done so we try to do one or two of those each trip. We love our DVC because of the flexibility and the accomodations are much better than any place we had stayed before. We like the variety and themes of all the resorts. And when we get AP's I can get DH to go several times in the same year!! SHHHH - don't tell him what I'm doing!!

We also bought after our son was older and in college. We plan to bring our niece and nephew in October and our son knows he is welcome to join us when he can (he's just started his first full-time job and won't have much vacation time for a while).

However, our trips alone have been wonderful. We visit the parks in a more leisurely fashion now. We've taken tours that are restricted to those over age 16 such as Backstage Magic, Backstage Safari, and the Segway tour. These tours are great fun. We also "wing it" more often; sometimes we just have a glass of champagne in France while we people-watch from a shady bench and sometimes we return to the room in the middle of the day and just enjoy the resort. A glass of wine on the balcony in the evening, visits to the Adventurer's Club, and a walk around the boardwalk at BWV and BCV are also things we wouldn't do with kids along. And, though DS thought we were a bit "Disney crazy," DH and I did MNSSHP for the first time last year and had a blast!

No kiddos here either, only the 4 legged kind. We are in our early 30's and bought into DVC 2 1/2 years ago and love it.

We tend to take it slow on our trips. Lots of time at the pool, and lots of good dinners. We usually sleep in a bit. We are going to enjoy the relaxed pace until the little ones come!

We first went to WDW on our honeymoon 15 years ago, have gone every year since and bought DVC on our 10 year anniversary...we should have bought sooner. We have no children and have enjoyed every trip. Some years we've had other family members or couples with us, but most trips have been just me and my DH. It's been wonderful for just the two of us to get away together.
Now we are adopting a child and are looking forward to seeing WDW through our child's eyes. I'm sure our future trips will be even more wonderful than the past. Either way, DVC is the way to go.

My children were adults when we bought. We still go as a family every year and do the usual things, parks and shopping. I can't wait to have grandchildren to spoil at "Mickey's Home".

DW and I are childless. We have enjoyed WDW for many years, and after a last minute trip, we decided to take the plunge. It has been the BEST decision we ever made. Now, we plan our vacations because we have to with the points.

Usually, we go alone in the fall for the F&WF, which we love (this will be our third year in a row). Then in January or February, we take my parents with us. At first, they weren't sure if they would like WDW, but now, all I have to say is "Let's go to WDW", and they are ready!

We are hoping to start using the points for II trips, and are considering adding points so that we have more options. We currently are trying to plan for an 11 person Grand Gathering in November, 2005 for our family, all using points.

We just wish we had done this sooner. DVC is GREAT!

We also bought into DVC and don't have any children.
We ourselves are just big children!

We bought BWV the month we retired going on 5 years ago. Then we added on at BCV when they first started selling.

We love going by ourselves. We can do whatever and whenever we want. We spend part of each day in Epcot. Neither of us cares for counter service, so we usually have one meal at a nice restaurant each day.

We take 4 or 5 trips to DW each year, usually staying about 5 days each.

It has averaged about every 18 months that we take our GC. This is a lot of fun but completely different; more hectic, eating where they want to eat and doing want they want to do.

I wouldn't give up any trips, with GC and without them.

You took the words right out of my mouth!

Some things we've done without children-

*Played a serious game of checkers on Main Street USA.

*Spent entire nights in the Adventurer's Club at PI.

*All 4 parks in ONE DAY! (okay just the highlights, but it would have been difficult to even attempt with children)

*Got into the singles line at Test Track so we didn't have to wait 40 minutes (we usually end up in the same car, just one behind the other)

*The 9:00 Hoop Dee Doo Revue.

*Spend hours trying different cocktails at the lounge at whatever resort we are staying at.

We do a GG every 5 years (sister's family and cousin's family along with the grandparents) and we had 3 little ones last time and will have 4 with us next Sept. A friend asked if I thought Disney was better with or without kids. I think it's two different trips. Neither is "better" they are just different. :)

My wife and I bought without children. One of the reasons we justified the cost was the fact that when we have kids,we can get a one or two BR and have lots of space instead of cramming into an All-Star or Mod., have a kitchen to help with meals, and basically have better then deluxe accomodations without having to shell out large sums of money for a room every trip. But to be honest it wasnt the only reason. Even if we couldnt have kids I am sure we still would have bought into DVC. We love Disney and who knows how much a room will cost in 20 years. We couldnt afford a deluxe room now much less in 20 years, but with DVC we are getting IMO a better then deluxe room. We couldnt be happier with our purchase of DVC

This is not a "child bashing" post. We love taking our neices and nephews with us. But are there any other DVC members who bought without having children.
I can't imagine that there aren't a lot of people like Us who enjoy WDW and DVC by ourselves or with our friends.
For those of you who "DVC-it" without children, what do you like to do when you are there?

::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

I joined when my kids were older and just love it now that they are really older. :)
We play tennis, read, relax, go to the park and just enjoy ourselves.

Our daughters are grown and married. Someday we may take them and their families. We bought in 2001 and will be making our 6th trip in Dec. Prior to buying we hadn't been to WDW since 1991. We bought for ourselves and will share our points eventually. We have spent as long as 16 days at one time at WDW and enjoy all aspects of WDW. We never rent a car and don't mind riding WDW transportation all over the complex. We tour the various resorts, eat where and whenever we please, relax at whichever DVC resort we are staying and just enjoy our time together. Buying AP's is terrific as we can come and go as we please and don't feel we are wasting a day if we go into a park for only a meal or an evening show.

same here for much of the above

try to do at least 1 new thing such as a tour, and 1 new restaurant each trip
have started as dvc members to spend more afternoon downtime/pool time each trip, knowing we'll be back, usually in less then 5 months lessens the need to rush through it all each time, love our dvc, best way to vacation at wdw IMHO

We enjoyed taking our kids to WDW about every couple of years. When we finally went by ourselfs after they were grown, we thought how empty we would feel going to all the places we had been with the kids and watching them grow up after each trip. Well that lasted about 1/2 day. We loved going by ourselfs. We go on our schedule and see what we want when we want and its great. Now we are DCV members at OKW and while we want to bring our kids and grandkids on a vacation someday, we are currently looking foward to several more trips with just the two of us...smjj

Unless you count the spoiled cat!:cat:
We purchased in 1999 and added on in 2002.
We have been going about 2 times per year and love it.
Been there, done that and going back again, again and again! :D
