DVC'ers favorite non-dvc resort

AKL all the way. It is wonderful and if DVC goes there I am sure we will add on.

We have only stayed at the cheaper resorts (ASM, and CBR) before we bought into DVC. We enjoy staying at the All-Stars a few nights because of the price and then move into the BW for the rest of our stay. Our children really like the theme to it.

My heart will always be at the Poly. Although we love our DVC and have been members since day 1, we need our Poly fix at least once a year!!!

Going by where we have stayed....the Polynesian and AKL are our favorite non-DVC resorts. But I like all the moderates too...though we have yet to stay at POFQ. My dh and I are planning our to take a trip without the kids one of these days and would like to split the week between AKL and the Polynesian...concierge at both.

Of course, I haven't stayed the Contemporary since I was about 7yo and have never been to the GF. And I don't count the hotels that have DVC villas as part of the resort....because, of course, the villas are far superior and as a DVC member they are much more affordable. So I'm not counting WL, BC, or BWI....though I've never stayed in those actual hotels either. I have stayed in the Villas at all three.

The only WDW resort I've ever stayed at and didn't like was ASMo....it wasn't horrible, but it was cramped and noisy and just didn't feel right. My stays at the Wyndham Palace were much more magical...and for less $. We won't return. I'd take 3 weeks at any other WDW resort (moderate or deluxe) over 6 weeks at one of their "value" resorts. I think I'd go insane if I had to spend 6 weeks at the All Stars!

And as much as I love AKL, the appeal is the savannah....so I don't know that I'd be interested in Villas there (unless, of course, they were all savannah views...which I don't think is possible)
