DVC X RunDisney

Wilderness Lodge! We have a Wine & Dine Week 44 runDisney Favorite Week at CCV Studio. Polynesian is probably second favorite.
I am staying at CCV for Dopey in 2025, very excited. Curious if it's a good location - I get worried that its an MK resort on but not on the monorail so getting to/from the races might be dicey with closed roads?

I have never had an issue using the Disney-provided buses to get to the races (no matter where I'm staying), but I don't cut it close and wait until the last one either. The monorail only runs for the half/full anyway, so you'd be taking the bus for the 5 and 10 regardless.

We stayed at BRV for the last Dopey - it was awesome
BRV is our favorite resort for MW. Never had an issue with the busses.

Question for runDisney and DVC veterans, especially those who have done multi-day challenges:

I'm staying in a studio, and will need to do laundry at some point to replenish my favorite race running clothes. Any tips on good times to do laundry on runDisney weekends? I've only done laundry at Aulani (my typical WDW stay is short, don't need laundry).

At Aulani, I got tokens at the DVC desk and didn't have any trouble finding open washers/dryers in the mid-morning. Do all resorts have tokens/easy availability?

I'll be staying at CCV. (And thanks to all for the BRV/CCV love for races!!)

I can't speak for CCV but I did do laundry at Boardwalk during wine and dine a couple years ago. There were only two machines but I went mid day (probably around 11) and had no issues at all.

I have never really had an issue with washer/dryer availability at Copper Creek during race weekends. I have gone morning, afternoon, night.

At Disney World all the DVC hotels have free machine/laundry that accessed via your room key/MB. So you don't need tokens like you did for Aulani since the laundry room was shared with non-DVC rooms. At CCV you will find the washer/dryer on the 4th Floor near one of the elevator banks (can't remember which set) in the CCV wing. There are 3 washers and 6 dryers. At all Disney hotels you can track the washer/dryer availability at Laundryview. Here is the link for the ones in CCV

So you still get the perk? That's fantastic!
Yes! It's part of my contract, and says that it will be offered unless the event is no longer offered.
I'm sure there's probably more clauses in there - it is Disney - and they are very, very bad at reaching out to me (I often have to ask for the preregistration), but so far, I continue to have the benefit. They just no longer offer these benefits for new Favorite/Fixed Week purchases that fall over runDisney events.

Disney provides bus shuttle service for all race runners, so unless you want to drive yourself to the races, it's pretty easy to get there. Just an even earlier morning to meet the buses!

Any reports on how Springtime Surprise is? I booked my BCV points for that time, but wasn’t able to get into the 10k or 5k; I haven’t done RunDisney but thought that might be a good excuse for a quick trip. I saw the 10 miler is still available but I am not super keen on running past 9 miles, and it is kind of expensive for something you aren’t super excited to do. I ran a half on my treadmill this winter and decided I highly prefer the shorter distances.

I did a split stay in 2024 for my Dopey. We stayed at BLT and then transisitoned to CCV. I was at CCV for the Half and Full. Here are my thoughts.
CCV is all bus of course. I had a minor issue with the bus getting back to the hotel on the day of the half. I literally gave the bus driver turn by turn directions how to get back to the hotel with what was going on to Fort Wilderness and then Wilderness Lodge. This was the 2nd bus of the morning though.
Never had an issue with pickup in the morning. There were buses there both morning for me. The 1st morning there was 2 buses. The Full morning just the bus I got on and there was no other bus when we left. Pop has been the most eye openning for me as far as buses. Evertyime I used POP there was always multiple busses to take folks to the events.
The good news about CCV is it was pretty to run around and finish my Half since it was shortened this past year due to the weather. 2025 with earlier dates you may get Christmas decorations still up as well, bonus.

Marathon Weekend 2025 doesn't start until the Expo opens on Wednesday, January 8. We arrive on the 10th, and I'll be surprised if Christmas decorations are still up. (Marathon Weekend is always the weekend before MLK Weekend, not the weekend after New Year's, although it mostly falls on that after-NY weekend.)

Thanks for this, it’s helpful!
There is no way I will be on one of the first buses back to the resort after the races so thats one problem I don’t worry about 🤪

I always get stressed getting to a race start, it’s just part of my pre-race nerves. I’m hoping the repetition of catching the buses from CCV/BRV for the first few races of Dopey will make marathon morning less stressful.

This was my first SS this year and tbh probably my last. I did the 5k and the 10 miler. The 10 mile especially was so swampy and warm that it was hard to feel good- my sweat wouldn't evaporate and I just ran out of steam way earlier than I normally would. I like the longer distances and often do the half marathons/challenges or longer, but I would skip SS going forward. It's busy in the parks, hot, and just not my idea of a good time.

Thank you! I would be coming from a cold climate as well so not acclimated to that weather. 10 miles sounds like a lot in the heat. Too much for me!

We’ve done all three years of SSC plus the Star Wars Dark side iteration pre-COVID. It’s definitely toasty, and when the 5K was at night the first year, it was so gross! We do tend to love the theming though of that race weekend, and Flower and Garden is my favorite.

Follow one of the platforms that gives alerts to race openings such as telegram. The 5K and 10K have opened several times since registration.

Yes, for my dates messed up. You are right. They will be gone.

I'm running the two race challenge for Food & Wine and am also new to DVC. I have a (fairly expensive - - $800/night) cash reservation at Beach Club for the weekend, which I know would be perfect for my family to easily see part of both races. But I've just been able to snag a 1 BR at BRV for the weekend, which would save me lots of cash and let me use points I might otherwise have to bank and may not have a use for in '25. I suppose I could rent out the reservation and use that to pay for a good portion of the Beach Club cost. What do you think? How much of a pain would spectating be for them to get from BRV to Epcot on the morning of the half? (I assume they'd just skip the early 10K if it weren't happening right outside our doorstep). They won't come for the start - - I'll drive or bus to that - - but I'm sure they'd like to come for the finish. Is the convenience of Beach Club worth sticking with it, not withstanding getting lucky with the BRV reservation?
