DVC worth or not?

I don't see where Adam's rack rate numbers include tickets - rack rate the highest price paid (no discounts) for a room only.

Hi YourEveryDayAdam, I have read your posts and sorry if I am a whole dumb, but I don´t really understand how you compare rack rates (wich include park tickets) with just the stay (DVC).

I guess you must add the cost of the tickets (yearly) to the DVC cost + the dues..... or just subtract it from the total of savings...... or, :confused3 :confused3.............. well I really am a dumb...

Rack rate is not a package rate. Those are 2 completely different things. Rack rate is paying retail for your hotel room. No discounts.

Wait-a-second!! please, annual passes can´t help as they only last for a year.

About Adam´s spreadsheet: so, he did not talk about Disney packages, just about room only...

Well, sorry, I advertise you!! I am a really dumb... I supposed everybody talking about comparison between room prices and the cost of DVC had not taking on count the cost of the tickets.....

The worth of DVC is subjective as others have pointed out. If you prefer deluxe hotels, will travel to WDW at least every other year and love Disney, then it's probably worth it.

For our family, it's definitely worth it. Had I paid attention, I would've bought into DVC in '04 which was the year we took our first trip. Before I set foot in Orlando I knew we would fall in love with WDW. Now that my SIL has moved to South Carolina, it makes even more sense. I haven't even had my first stay in DVC accomodations and am already considering a small contract at Hilton Head via resale. This would allow me 4-5 days in a 2 bdr. every other summer and I could treat my SIL and her family when we visit them.

Again, if you love Disney and plan on visiting often then by all means, do your research, crunch the numbers, ask lots of questions here and then decide if it's for you.

No doubt that a bargin hunter could do things CHEAPER than DVC ... but it might be BETTER via DVC with the rooms size and amentities. As a rule, the timeshare industry has hit the bricks in this economy. Check sites like Ebay and Redweek and you'll find folks trying to dump their timeshare for a penny just to avoid the annual maintanence fees. The exception to that rule seems to be the DVC, though. Those rooms are still in demand across the board.
Good timeshares in high demand places still have value. They are all down somewhat including DVC. One has always been able to buy questionable things for much less but certainly less now than in the past. It's a great time to buy.
