When we were at WDW in December we noticed that you can actually go to far more places than just WDW with DVC, has anyone ever done this??

Lisa

We haven't done this yet, but it's something I'd like to plan one day. :)

Not yet, but have two weeks in Malaga in August booked, will post feedback then on the resort.

Simon, how easy was it to convert your points to somewhere other than Disney?

Have not done it yet but would like to in future. We keep saying when we are a bit fed up of wdw we'll go somewhere else in USA. But have not got fed up yet ! :cheer2:

Lisa,

It was an easy transaction, all done over the phone, they didn't have anything available at the time, so we had to go on the wait list and pay the $75 fee.

They called back about 2 months later and said they had availability on one of the resorts we had requested. Just went through details of party size etc then and had booking sent through 2 weeks later.

I was really concerned that we would never get anything matched, maybe we were lucky, only time will tell as we will try to do Disney every 2-3 years and somewhere else in between.

Hi,
We have exchanged a week in a one bed unit for this June in Palm Desert California, in fact I booked 2 units as some friends said they would like to join us. It took about 15 minutes on the phone and I had 3 different resorts to choose from. I'll let you know how it goes.

Mick.

Not quite a swap to other locations but we used our first years points to say at DLP, we stayed at the Disneyland Hotel...it was brill. :cloud9:
Very easy to arrange and we will do again.

Yes - but it can be quiet difficult to get a swap. DLP twice - great deal as park tickets included, four seasons - algarve - brilliant swap - got a three bed villa with pool. We also had a swap to La Manga - nice enough place but we could probably have paid cash and the price would have been less than our annual dues.

I do not believe its good value to swap for a non-WDW resort. DVC costs a substantial premium to other resorts - yet a swap is normally on a 1-for-1 basis.

Simon - which resort have you swapped in to in Malaga?

We own at Marriott Marbella and at Marriott Cypress Harbour (as well as DVC) we normally swap the Marriott Cypress Harbour in to Marbella.

Halo,

Staying at Royal Oasis Club at La Quinta, its near Benalmadina.

Will post a report when we get back.
