I just received a call that DVC overbooked Vero and they need to cancel my vacation with a week and half to go. I really wanted to have a few days of rest and relaxation on the beach. Did this happen to anyone else?

Sorry to hear that. Did you have plane tickets for this trip? I think it's time to start asking them for more compensation than just your points back. Hopefully someone who has the unfortunate experience of having this happen to them can help you work through this.

Yes, we just got a call today too that our reservation at Vero was cancelled! We booked this back in November, had it paid for, and our kids have been so excited about it. We have very irritated! Have they offered you anything else? They offered us another hotel back in Orlando, but we wanted the BEACH!

I would contact MS and get additional info on what's going on. Did they really over book and how did it happen? How were people selected who got bumped? Are there cash Guests keeping their reservations?

:earsboy: Bill

???? Oh, my! We plan to arrive Vero on 6/15. I guess I should confirm my reservation which was booked via RCI Exchange.

How does DVC overbook? Was there some sort of catastrophe that rendered part of the resort uninhabitable? Why did it take this long to realize it? This is very disconcerting....

Some families plan and save for years to take a once-in-a-lifetime trip to WDW and take advantage of renting DVC points to make it special. I would be LIVID if I bought park tickets and non-refundable airfare only to be told 1 week in advance that my reservation was cancelled. This possibility is VERY disturbing.

Here's a theory....is it possible that rooms are somehow getting double-booked as a result of the waitlist "lag time" and the ability to "override" the waitlist if you happen to check availibility online at just the right time?? Like if the computer reads the room is "open" and fills the waitlist, even though someone saw it first and snagged it online? I guess I cannot figure out how a TIMESHARE can get overbooked.

Wow! So sorry for your cancellations! That would be horrible for someone like me on the west coast. I hope they compensate you somehow.

I am new to DVC...does this happen often?

Wow. It's so odd that two brand new newbies with only 1 post each had the same problem! What a bummer. I hope that DVC will make it right for both of you.

I noticed too... What a coincidence... I hope there will be some kind of happy ending.

That is the First time I have heard this happening, it's not acceptable is it!

They really should find some compensation to make it at least bearable.
I'm so sorry that this has happened to you Both.:guilty:
I will be worrying about us going in October now, at least it's not the Busiest of Seasons.

Interesting situation and VERY interesting that this is the first and only post for both members. In my experience, Disney is generally very good at making things right, the only exception I can think of were the AKV relocation issues. They can't generate availability where there is none and if someone has to be cancelled, then someone is going to be unhappy. I wonder if these are points or cash reservations and if it's possible that RCI exchanges might be involved.

We'll be there in a week & a half! No call here, & I sure hope there will not be any, we've a BC that I booked at the 11 month mark. That's a lot of points!!!

Why would anybody take the time to make up a new account and just make a trolling post on a DVC board? Really?

The same reason why anyone makes a new account to troll: to get folks riled up.

I confirmed my reservation with DVC Member Services. "All is well," they told me.

I don't believe it. :lmao: To begin, they said they "paid" for it back in November. Wake up, DVC members use points. Also, they stated that DVC offered them a hotel in Orlando instead, huh? :confused3 Vero and Orlando are a long way apart. It appears this person is a foreigner due to the grammatical errors in their statement above saying, "We have very irritated"! I've been booking DVC vacations using my points since 2007 and we visit 6 or 7 times per year. With all my experiences, we have never been overbooked. :rolleyes1
