DVC Value Calculator

Right, if the link still worked I wouldn't have asked. It may be a long shot but it could save me quite a bit of time.

I did download it at the time but I couldn’t find it in my downloads.

There have been similar versions over the years. Let me see if I can find one or two….

Thank you for checking.

This forum is a wealth of information. I joined just a couple weeks ago. What started out as looking into renting points to be more economical is evolving into me considering DVC ownership given how expensive 1+ bed villas can get and how hard they are to come by via renting. Plus, the rack rates are just bananas!

Welcome! There sure is alot to learn around here.

Played a big role in our DVC journey from renting to buying resale and then finally buying direct. We’ve hit the stage of outgrowing studios and are now booking 1BRs - which has the advantage of being easier to book other resorts at 7 months. So much easier than studios lol.

Thank you!

Your journey seems very logical and one our household could go down at some point. I've seen a few contracts listed on https://www.dvcforless.com/ that got my gears turning, hence searching the forum for breakeven tools. A combination of the time and money to find a room at a WDW resort 9+ months ahead of time, learning about the DVC resale market, and reading threads on this forum has gotten me to take DVC membership more seriously. I still have more to read on the topic, including how it has changed for better or worse. It's a big commitment, but it's one we may be willing to make if our family likes Disney as much as I did growing up.

If nothing else, I enjoy learning and I can appreciate the strategy involved to making the most out of a Disney vacation.

You’re very welcome. I’m glad to help. This community is fantastic for trip planning and learning DVC! Just the other day people helped me save $170 on a ticket option for my adult son.

I like to use the Quick Sale to find the value on dvcresalemarket.
And then check out all the red arrows of members trying to sell their points .

If I have any advice, it's to limit your time on the DISboards DVC forums. The longer you lurk, the more you're going to be enveloped in the subject and craving points-- and then even more points. Before you know it, you'll be talking about your resale contract(s), having FOMO and buying direct. That's a lot of money.

I don't know what your financial situation is, but please be smart if going into this whole process. Take your time, and avoid going from 1 to 100. We're all here to help you should you have any questions.

Welcome and good luck!

This is very, very good advice. I didn't follow it . . . at all 🙃.

Agree with this 😂I went from 0 to 500 in no time at all.

And craving more 🤪

I knew I had hit “next level” when I sold my first contract and realized that the funds were going to be wired to me. I was afraid the large deposit was going to draw attention and leave them vulnerable to “reallocation” by the household minister of finance. I considered asking the title company to hold them in escrow until I negotiated a new purchase, but I didn’t want to be rushed. 😆 I ended up parking the proceeds in an obscure account that nobody pays attention to, shopped for a new contract, and then wired the money back out. I felt like a secret agent … or an addict 🤷🏼‍♀️

Shhhh! Trying to keep that a secret. Don’t want too many newbies to jump right into 1BR to start. It would increase competition too much.

I doubt that’ll be the case. Studios will always be the high demand especially given the points/price requirements for more rooms.

Oh but there is a secret lol. 1BR has amazing 7 month availability, which means 2 things: no need for home priority, and much shorter lead time for trip planning. So for that I 😉 highly recommend noobs don’t buy SSR resale to target 1BRs.
