DVC Transportation while at WDW

I was wondering if most DVC'ers drive themselves, take disney transportation, or have another plan of attack for visiting the parks once they arive at their resort.

We drive too much at home, so we (almost) never rent a car at WDW as we find the Disney transportation to be very good. The only problem is if you want to go outside of Disney, we usually take a town car.

We take the bus to the MK, boat or walk to MGM, Epcot. DTD is bus or boat if at OKW, usually car to AK so we can take a side trip to AKL.

If we are going to another resort, we generally take the car, unless we are going to a park after (eg a monorail resort and then to the MK).

We almost always drive to FL, so we have aour car with us. Many times while staying at OKW we drive to the parks, to other resorts, to DTD, etc. On our trip last month we had seven people & a car for five, so we took the bus nearly everywhere. We were pleasantly pleased & maybe a bit surprised at how well taking WDW busses from OKW to the parks worked. We did not end up visiting other resorts though which my husband & I missed - no Boma's, no Cape May, etc. - but next time!

I've only had 1 trip as a member, but 20 trips altogether. When I was younger we rented a car my mother drove. I hate to drive, always have, so I can't imagine doing it on vacation. I take WDW transportation. In the future, when my other half starts coming with me, if we have kids, etc (and he drives) maybe, but for now, let the WDW busses cart me around!

We stay at the BWV, which have a great location. We nearly always walk to EPCOT and MGM, but sometimes take the boat. It's a nice relaxing ride.

We take the bus to the MK and drive to the AK, DD/PI, the waterparks and any resort not within walking distance of the BWV.

Best wishes -

We usually rent a car because there are usually at least 4 of us, and it is easier for getting to and from the airport. We only use it for groceries and for going to dinner at some of the other resorts when we are down there. We always use Disney transportation to get to the parks from OKW. It is much faster and easier, with the possible exception of AK. If we have a reason to hurry back from AK, we will sometimes drive there.

We limo in from MCO with a grocery stop, then trust Disney transportation (and our feet) to get around.

I found the price of a rental car to be less tham airport transfers for our family of 5, so we got a car this trip.

From OKW we started taking the buses but then switched to driving most everywhere except MK. We usually exited the parks early afternoon and it was nice having the car to get back to the resort quicker than the time we'd have spent waiting for the bus. At OKW we were about as far from the main pool as you can get so the car was handy to get there as well. We also enjoyed a few dining options off site.

If I stay at BWV or BCV next trip and magical express gets good reports I may consider skipping the rental car.

Though we always rent a car to get to-from the airport, we never drive anywhere once we're on Disney property. Of course since we've been to the parks mucho times over the years, driving just to arrive 5 or 10 minutes faster doesn't mean much to us. While at WDW, we have no worries, no hurries!

I have a few I will loan ya! :teeth:

We drive everywhere except for MK. But even then, we make sure at some point to take a ride on the Monorail. To my sons, this is one of the best rides at WDW lol The walk/ride from the parking lot at most of the other parks seems shorter than the walk to get to the bus terminals and after a day of pushing 90 pounds of little boys in a stroller, walking more isn't high on my list of things to do. (next trip, beginning of June - only taking a one butt stroller :earseek: Its going to be interesting!)

Also, I have learned NEVER get on a Disney bus without confirming with the driver where you are headed. Although it has led us to some interesting and fun places, I SWEAR they change that sign after they have pulled in sometimes!

We stay at OKW and always drive a car to the parks except MK. The buses can be a real pain at times, it is so much easier just to drive yourself to the parks.

I usually take WDW transportation. The exception is if we play miniature golf or what particular time we go to Downtown Disney.

I got a compact on Priceline for our July trip for $12 a day. We do take Disney transportation to MK, but like to drive to MGM, and AK. We're staying at BWV and BCV in July, so will walk to Epcot and MGM. We do the *unthinkable* and like to visit Universal, shop at Publix (I have to get pimento cheese -- not available here in CT), and eat at Sweet Tomatoes. This trip we'll do Universal after we move to Cypress Pointe on Friday and Saturday.

We rarely rent a car, maybe once out of every half dozen trips. I don't drive, and my partner prefers not to drive while at WDW, because he has to do all the driving at home so while he is on vacation he wants to really be on vacation! The Disney transpo system is (for the most part) very efficient and convenient, and we enjoy riding the monorail, boats, and yes, even the buses! :teeth:

This Dec will be our first trip as DVC members at BWV. We plan to do what we have done on our other trips, take a limo from the airport, and then use Disney transportation. We walk or take the boat to Epcot or MGM and take the buses everywhere else. We have never had a problem. I would hate, hate, hate to have to drive on vacation! That is one of the things I love about Disney.

We usually rent a car so we have transportation to go shopping, church, etc. This June DH has an off-site conference for two of the days so his boss is paying for the rental car. We use the busses, monorails, and our feet for transportation between the parks, but will drive over to Downtown Disney.

We use Disney Transportation to get around the World. On vacation, one perk is not having to drive, it adds to the relaxation factor for DH and me.

We drive... just about everywhere... Buses are fine to get TO the park, but we prefer the van for the way home, and since we havent figured out how to work that out... we drive both ways....

We were most recently at OKW this past November and used the busses most everywhere. The only time we drove our car for onsite was for a PS at Boma, as well as Kona Cafe for dinner. We also drove to DD on our last day but only because we were leaving to drive to Port Canaveral for our cruise. Normally we would have taken the boat launch from OKW.
We never waited longer than 10 min at the resort for a bus to any park. :cool1:
