How do you sign-up/schedule tours?
I was thinking that my DH and I might take a trip down (we live 4.5 hours away) and take some tours of DVC resorts that we are considering. Can we do several tours in two days? Or are tours only given at certain times of the day?
Please forgive me if this is mentioned somewhere. I've done a lot of reading, but I haven't seen this.

They only do the tour at SSR so if you do multiple tours you will be doing it at the same place. Plus they will put you in the system so they would know which guide was assigned to you in the first place.

You can call and schedule a tour, they do them throughout the day, every day.

The only "Official DVC Tour" will be at SSR. If you want to tour the other resorts where DVC villas are located, you will be able to, to a certain extent, but you won't be able to go into rooms. You could, for example, walk over to the BCV and look at all of the public spaces on the ground floor, and you could ride up to another floor in the elevator and see the laundry room, etc, but there's not a formal tour at any of the "sold out" resorts.

When I was thinking about DVC, I went on a solo trip and stayed at the BCV, the VWL, and the BWV, one or two nights in each room. I started in a studio at BWV, moved to a studio at BCV which was upgraded to a 1 BR, then moved to a 1 BR at VWL which was upgraded to a 2BR. So I got to see all the room sizes except a Grand Villa - thanks, Disney!!

Since you live so close, you could probably drive over to HH and take a tour of that property, but I'd call ahead to make sure that was possible. And I don't know if you could see any villas or not, but you could probably see the pool, Big Murgie's Den, the dock, etc and get a sense of the resort.

Have fun deciding!!!

Another thing too is you can call a guide ahead of time and schedule something with them before you even get there. I know my guide does that.
That way you can decide ahead of time when you want to go and get some preliminary info too.

yep - they will work with you to the extent possible.

as stated, the only official tour is at SSR. my family was staying at SSR and we just walked over and they were able to accomodate us - we were able to see a 1BR, 2BR and GV to compare to the studio we were renting.

there is also a walkup BWV studio/1BR (=2BR IIRC) model on the boardwalk. definitely worth the trip over.

we were also able to show up at a nonbusy time for the front desk at OKW and visit a studio there (which happened to be unoccupied.)

but other than BWV and SSR, calling ahead and working with a guide is probably your best bet to see the rooms at the other resorts.

Didn't they dismantle those BW models within the last year or so???

We just returned today from the Wilderness Lodge. There was a DVC desk in our resort. DH and I scheduled the tour through the DVC representative at the desk. It was very convenient. WDW/DVC van picked us up at the WL and dropped us off at SSR for our tour and then brought us back to our resort. The rooms at SSR were gorgeous, I was impressed.
