We are going to WDW in Sept. We plan to take the DVC tour straight away. Where is the best place to get this done? Are there any incentives or freebies for taking the tour?

That's where the sales office is. If you are staying onsite, you can arrange for a van to pick you up and deliver you back to your hotel. You get ice cream, at the end of the tour - and there is a child activity center, so that you don't have to deal with the distractions of cranky kids while you are touring and talking business. Generally, no high pressure sales tactics.

Since SSR is basically sold, your guide will likely be condentrating on AKV. If you have your heart set on any of the sold out properties, however, you can get on a waiting list (if they don't have current inventory) for contracts that Disney can obtain through ROFR (or, you can look into resales).

DVC will pick you up anywhere on property then after your tour drop you off anywhere on property. When we took the tour at SSR we received three Fastpasses each. Have fun!

The only advice I would say here is enjoy the tour. DH and I were booked to take the tour in 1993 and decided not to go. We felt at that time we did not want to take time out of our vacation time to hear a sales pitch. Boy was that a mistake! Ever since we have been members (which is 1998) we constantly say...'wish we would have done this in 1994'...BIG mistake not getting in sooner.

Make the tour an event of your trip you look forward to rather than thinking it is distracting you from your vacation. They make it so convenient...pick you up in a van, drop you back off and feed you ice cream while you are there. What is not to like about that experience? Plus the guides are nice and not the usual timeshares pressure tactics.

Keep us posted on the outcome of your tour....:surfweb:

I just bought in to DVC today and was told SSR is now SOLD OUT. We had to do AKL, which is fine with us...... although I would have liked to have had SSR...... anyhooo - - just thought I'd share my 2 cents of info.

When DH and I went to WDW in January with my parents we took the tour. DH, mom and I went up to one of the kiosks at DTD and were taken by van over to SSR for the tour and "info session". We were taken back to our resort by van as well... we came back the following day with my father so he could see everything. (Mom needed him to see it so she could buy in!) They picked us up at the resort and dropped us back off when we were done. I would agree with the advice to make it an event during your trip... we were able to take it slow and have all our questions answered because we had scheduled the time to do it.
