We are going for our 1st trip to BCV for five days with 4 adults.
I think we get housekeeping on our next to last day of our stay.
I understand they need to prep and close-out for us. What would be
an appro. tip.

thanks

You're staying on points, correct? That means you'll get trash and towels on day 4. We typically leave $5 on T&T day with four of us in a one-bedroom.

Since, they don't do a full cleaning on our Trash and Towel day, we usually wait until the end of our stay and leave a tip on the kitchen table. Great minds think alike. Like the previous post, we leave $5. :thumbsup2

We also leave $5 . . .

unless, we ask for something extra. On our last visit I knew that I would have time to do some laundry before leaving - so I asked for extra detergent.:laundy:

In the past I have also asked for extra shower gels ( I would take home a bag full if I could ) or coffee packs for our last morning

In those cases, I usually leave $7 +

I guess I'm in the minority, then. When I stay at a non-DVC resort, I tip according to how many days I'm there.

When I'm staying DVC on points....I don't tip.
I'd like to think my maintenance dues are paying for the housekeeping.
Am I wrong in that thinking?

I take size into consideration. We stay at Old Key West. When we stay in a regular studio, I leave $10 when we leave. Last trip we stayed in a two bedroom villa and I left $20. I guess this is high maybe compared to what some are saying, but the place was so huge and we used every inch of it, so $20 seemed about right to me.

I thought the maintenace dues are to upkeep the property and for any future expansions/renovations like the pools, painting, etc ... Also since our home resort is AKV, our maintenance dues are used to care for the animals.

So, that is why we always tip mousekeeping as if we are staying in a regular room. That is just us though. I don't think there is a "right" answer. ;)

first let me say i am a serious tipper, my wife cleans my clock everytime we leave a restaurant anywhere for leaving TO MUCH. i figure those girls gotta eat too. but ITA with you on staying on points. we always sign up for the odd days service at check in and get charged for it so i figure the service must be built in. dont feel bad.

Tipping Mousekeeping is a totally personal decision. For myself, I feel better if I tip. Even though we keep everything pretty well picked up, mousekeeping still has to mop, clean toilet's, etc. and I figure anyone doing that deserves a little extra. However, I'm not a huge tipper. Here's my breakdown for Mousekeeping:
Studio - full cleaning - $5.00
1-bedroom - full cleaning - $10.00

We've never stayed in anything larger, so I can't comment on that. We also don't do trash and towel days (leave the do not disturb on the door).
