I was just reading cruise reviews on AOL and one mentioned that "if you are taking your cruise on DVC points there will be a surprise in your stateroom". Is this true? Do you get a little perk of some kind? We are paying points for everyone but DS. Also, is there some kind of DVC reception?

I haven't heard of this. Is the surprise a bucket, mop and schedule/location of the decks that need scrubbing?
;-)

Where's Perrysburg?

When we cruised the first time on points, we recieved a bottle of Champagne from DVC.
The second cruise was on the DVC Anniversary Cruise, and the surprises were far to numurous to list.

Our first year cruising on points (1999) we received a bottle of champagne from DVC. The next cruise we didn't receive anything nor the following 2 cruises. Evidently it's a thing of the past. :(

We sailed Labor Day, 1998 - the 11th sailing of the Magic - on points.

We got 2 DVC Beach Towels in our room.

I can't wait to see what's in store for the Member Cruise! But I'm keeping in mind how many more members there will be on "this" cruise than on last year's...

We took the four day cruise beginning on Jan. 5, 2003 using our points. We did not receive any special treatment or surprise gifts.

The only surprise was that some people were able to book the cruise at subtanial discounts, which made using points appear excessive. This was our only complaint. The cruise was great and enjoyable. Also, the food, service, and shows were excellent.

I felt there should be some coordination with travel agencies and Disney prior to booking on points. Using points sometimes is not a good idea. We booked late and the next day I saw the discounts. I would have not used our points; however, it was too late.

I highly recommend the cruise it was very relaxing. Enjoy!
