The website has nothing to do with what is or is not represented by models when you purchase. It doesn't list tables and chairs, either, but they can not simply remove those.

First of all, when we stay in a studio, we consider that we are staying in deluxe accommodations. Just because we don't need the extra space, doesn't mean that we should be consider less than deluxe. When we bring the kids, 1 bedroom. When we leave them at home, studio. I actually feel like it's more of a deluxe in the studio, because it's relaxing. But, that has nothing to do with accommodations

We honestly don't really use the dishes that much. However, I am not going to wash paper cup. So, they had better be replacing them. And, we enjoy staying in Congress Park. Therefore, the amount of time we spend at the main building is minimal. Very minimal. If they have the maids replace the cups everyday, then that is extra time required from them. So, not only money to replace the cups, but time for the maids to replace the old cups. Also, they have to understand that the amount of time in the room for a lot of people can be minimal. So, if I want a cup, I don't want to wait an hour for someone to bring it to me.

My two main concerns on this point are 1: Where is the world is Jiminy Cricket? Did someone squash him? Because while they like to boast about being green and how you should reuse your towes, they should also see that reusing cups is another way to make the little guy happy. I find that Disney and a lot of other corporations like to brag that they are green and encourage you to do so. But, usually it means that we are saving them money.

And, 2: If they are doing this in the studios, it needs to be across the board for people who don't have kitchen facilities. All of the deluxes need to follow suit.

Yes, change, not complete elimination. Plastic and foam are not the same as glass and ceramic. What's next, put chinette plates in the 1bedrooms and up too?

If they change the fiestaware to some other type of (real) plate, that is a change. If they eliminate the plates all together that is not a change, that is elimination.

This cracked me up! But, please, don't give them anymore cost-cutting ideas!

What I would like to know...is this really cost effective? Is this really saving Disney a lot of money or any at all? How much does a coffee mug and a little juice glass cost? For instance, our next stay will be 11 nights in the same place to start. Think how many disposable products we will use in that amount of time compared to "one" glass and "one" mug" for the entire stay!

We are a family of three, so we bought in with the intentions of primarily staying only in studios. We probably will never stay in anything else! We would rather stay 15 days at WDW as opposed to 8 or so staying in a one bedroom. So if you think about that...it is 7 more days we are spending money at their resort!

When we bought DVC, we bought largely because of the kitchenette and the amenities it came with, or so we thought! It was sold to us as our "home away from home" and I don't drink out of paper and styrofoam at my home! I travel over 3,000 miles one way and I don't want to have to start lugging glasses and mugs in my suitcase. I've been trying to lighten up over the years! We spent just as much per point as everyone else, so to the OP who made the statement devaluating our studio points, that is just simply ridiculous!

The other timeshares and hotels we have stayed at have all had real glasses and mugs!

Lastly, it is just plain "Cheesy" and it is bad for the environment!

I do not think this is about cost saving - I can't believe it is saving them anything at all.

I think it is about sanitation and cleanliness.

That said, I always wash glasses and mugs before using them no matter where I stay - Disney, not Disney, cheap motel or top of the line luxury place (well, OK, I hardly ever get to stay at one of those, LOL).

Too bad that DVC managers aret trying to convince people that the studios have always had styrofoam cups. We who have stayed in DVC studios know differently. Wish they would tell us ahead of time when they make a change that we are bound to notice!

Who knows, according to some the studios are so low-rent, maybe DVC will think the people who stay in them eat with their hands and don't even need plastic utensils? The heck with styrofoam, just drink your coffee right out of the glass pot. Oh my, does Mousekeeping wash the pots with toilet water too? Never mind the studios cost on a cash basis about the same as the De-luxe resorts. Both even have the fancy see-ment ponds and kiddie slides, but nonetheless they are still lower rung accomodations, right?

So on that note.. Welcome to the new Medievil Times Resort. Eat your food with your hands, feel free to use the drapes when you are done with your ribs. It will add to the colorful ambiance

One more thing and this will really gross you out! I watched a special a few years back about an experiment that school children did. They had water from the toilet tank tested along with the ice machines at several fast food establishments. Guess what tested cleaner?! Ever since then, I don't usually get ice from those machines or even in restraunts!

I got a second reply from Member services. This one says they are passing my comments on to Member Satisfaction.
I fully plan to ask for ceramic mugs and glass tumblers from housekeeping when I stay in a studio at VWL this June. I suggest that everyone who wants them also call and request them.

I don't stay in studios very often but when I do I am very glad for the glasses and coffee mugs as wine and coffee just don't taste the same out of styrofoam. Like others I always tend to wash them myself to be sure they are clean (this also goes for the one bedrooms as well as I have noticed the last few years that mugs and glasses are often not clean when we check in).

This does seem like a knee jerk reaction from Disney. If it was planned why was it not mentioned at last years AGMs like the Internet and when they announced they were going to build a slide at OKW?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I know Disney can make changes but we as members can let them know what we think to them. If we don't then they could assume that none of us minded.

As I said BWV BCV never had ceramic mugs or glass cup I have stay there in this level room and never had it the only major chnage would be the dish soap .

SO as Chusck S said "at least OKW" well that is not all of DVC .

I've owned at BWV since 2000 and also at BCV and I often stay in studios. We always have had glassware and Fiesta cups, same as the 1 and 2 bedroom villas, whether they were lockoffs or dedicated. In fact, I have stayed in EVERY DVC resort and have used the same in each. I am not happy with disposables.

Ok here is different twist.

I am not for or against it . I just do not see it as a end all fight.

SOrt of like when your kids and you have a disagreement you need to pick your battles wisely and fighting over a studio having glassware or coffee mug is not a fight I think DVc members should put there all into .

We let them take perks we let them change the ddp and yet we fight of a Damn papper cup..

If we did unite we would still not fight the disney mechine.

SO pick out battle wisely is a better approach them quibling over a papper cup.

Here is the thing! What is important to you maybe isn't important to someone else!

I could care less about the DDP, never used it and probably never will!

I am concerned about our environment on the other hand and I don't like drinking out of paper and styrofoam!

So to some of us, we are picking our battle wisely!

Add another to those who don't like this change. Just sent my message to member services.

We hardly ever stay in studios, but when we do we still like to do some eating in the room, and we ALWAYS have coffee in the morning. I do not like drinking out of a styrofoam cup. Plus, to provide enough cups for 4 people for 4 days--well, that's a lot of cups.

We have a studio booked in the fall, and if they're still using the styrofoam, I'll request real mugs. If they won't comply, well, I'll bring my own mug just in case!

A few posters have suggested that if you really want a ceramic mug, just go out and buy one (either at the gift shop, or go get a cheap one). Sorry, but I feel like I've paid enough for DVC and I really resent the idea of having to pay any more money. On the other hand, the idea of drinking my afternoon tea in a styrofoam cup-Blech!

I feel the same way! I drink coffee on occasion, but I do drink tea everyday! We have all paid enough and If I wanted that camping feeling, I would stay at Fort Wilderness!

I stay exclusively in studios, and this is not a huge change for me. First off, having worked in the hotel business, I cringe when I drink out of a mug wondering if it was cleaned with windex and rinsed. I worked in a luxury hotel in Orlando for years, and trust me, I saw this done as regular practice. Granted, there is nothing "deluxe" about styrofoam cups, but I feel a lot better drinking out of those than the others. I can appreciate why some feel like its "not what they paid for," but I know for a fact I didnt look in the cabinets of the model to see if it was plastic or glass cups. I was too busy checking out the flat panel TV

I simply wash the mug or glass before I drink out of it, just to make sure! It is not a hard thing! I would much rather do that then use a bunch of wasteful cups!

I agree its totally wasteful, and as I said before, there is nothing deluxe about it. I was not agreeing with the change, in my opinion its cheap and cheesy. I was simply saying that I prefer not to drink out of a glass that was previously washed by windex, as I'm sure you would not be crazy about eating off a plate previously washed with clorox. The hotel I used to work for offered both plastic and glass/mugs in the room, and personally I think that would be the best solution. Best of both worlds....

Just because they don't list every single item in the unit, doesn't mean they shouldn't be there.

They don't list sheets, pillows, towels, soap, shampoo, toilet paper, etc. That doesn't mean they shouldn't be supplied. They were included when we bought DVC and we think they should continue!
