DVC studios - fewer amenities

Does anyone have a breakdown of what is in a unit,,??

They are listed on a sheet of paper behind the cabinet door of each room. However Disney is changing those peices of paper when they remove the glasses and cups that the members own.

SUBJECT to CHANGE at ANYTIME!!

This is a change not well liked but a change

While on a smaller scale, it would be the equivalent of them changing the sleeper sofa to a $100 Wal-Mart futon.

The "Vacation Interest" I bought into was presented as the equivalent of the Disneyworld Resort Deluxe Accomodations. I'm not getting what I paid for and haven't for a number of years now.
What you paid for is spelled out in the public offering statement.
If glasses or other perks is listed in there, than you indeed did pay for them. If not, than it's something that can come and go with no recourse. :smokin:

bavaria - not sure.

but believe some of the 'it isn't such a big change' - are working for Disney.

or they are so rich that they haven't had to stay in a studio.

take your pick.

I stay in studios alot and this will definitely hurt me.

Disney does not own these resorts, they are acting as property management for them. And, not everything is subject to change. The number of beds are not subject to change. The decor may change, but there are certain items in the rooms that were defined on our paper work, room capacity being one. Disney is too used to just doing what they want, when they want to. You are right this is an ownership interest in a resort. Key word ownership. Did you know we could fire Disney as the management company of the resort? Not that would be wise or easy thing to do, it it is something that could be done. We, the members own those properties. Disney is supposed be managing the property for the members.

Unless you own 1000000 point you own not more the a .09856548 interest in a vacation not a unit. so with my 420 points I own maybe a nail.

With all that said subject to change is subject to change and changing this is not the end all for me and I am sure others.. It is like not smoking in a unit ..what because your a owner you can smoke there without repercusions I think Not.

No, we don't really "own" the properties. Disney (or some sub category) still owns them.
We actually have a long term lease. :smokin:

This change bothers me a lot! I will email member services to complain.

I agree when we bought into DVC, it was with the representation that the accomadations would be equivalent to Deluxe Accomadations.

Man, even a "Roach Motel" gives you new plastic cups each day!

If you had daily Mousekeeping you could do that ..

All villas except club level get a "starter set Up"

Club level get daily mousekeeping

Not exactly. By Florida law, something physical must be deeded or leased. That is why our deeds list a proportional interest in a specific unit or building (OKW uses buildings, not units.) Otherwise we would simply be "club members" and the taxes and operating costs for all resorts would be lumped together and divided by the entire membership, not just the "owners" of a specific resort.

Hmm, so when I suggested a few pages back that Larry had been vacationing with one of the posters here I may not have been too far wrong? ;)

I agree that it is a major change for anyone who stays in a studio, even if it is one time only.

Some of the past changes have resulted in alternatives. While I was not around for the peach to white towel change, a towel was substituted for a towel (it may not have been as nice or as unique, but still a towel)

Now a mug which can be used over and over again is being substituted with a one time use product. A glass cup for holding toothbrushes is substituted with a styrofoam cup which will not hold anything.

The replacements are not equivalent

can you get on dvcmember.com

then go to the dvc resort - take your pick - then go to the accomodations.

http://dvc.disney.go.com/dvc/member...l?id=OldKeyWestMemberAccommodationsDetailPage

also look at the way it reads.

now it looks like studio may not even get sheets.

vacation homes are mentioned with linens - but nothing is mentioned in the studio - when it goes into details.

the toaster that right now we do get is not mentioned. So what is next to disappear.....

Like I siad then we each own a nail

The point is it is all SUBJECT TO CHANGE ..

We did all sign that at closing we did all agree to that ..

"Own" or "Lease" we have an interest in the property until a specific date, and Disney is working for the members as our management company. Or at least they should be.

A few posters have suggested that if you really want a ceramic mug, just go out and buy one (either at the gift shop, or go get a cheap one). Sorry, but I feel like I've paid enough for DVC and I really resent the idea of having to pay any more money. On the other hand, the idea of drinking my afternoon tea in a styrofoam cup-Blech!

I agree.
However, as long as they keep their end of the bargain, which is spelled out in the public offering statement, than we don't have any binding recourse.
Of course, they may hear our complaints loud & clear and choose to make changes. :smokin:
