Can he get the UPH 10% discount for him and his friend? I will not be there, but I assume his room key will say DVC Member. We are trying to decide if they should get a park hopper plus, or try for the discounted UPH.

I'm quite sure he will be able to get the 10% discount for both himself and his friend. They will be your guests. As far as I know, guests are entitled to most (if not all) of the perks available to members staying on points.

FWIW, I have never heard of anyone staying on points (even those renting) that were denied the 10 discount on UPH tickets.
