DVC Room Ratings

I picked up the latest edition of The Unofficial Guide to WDW yesterday while browsing the Barnes & Noble in beautiful Hoboken, NJ. I was very interested in the ratings for the various resorts and am pleased to report that OKW received a "room quality rating" of 92. This was based on a studio, presumably so that it could be fairly rated against the other hotels in and around WDW. BWV and WLV received ratings of 91.

The top rating went to the GF, at 96, followed by AKL at 95, Boardwalk Inn at 93 and Beach Club & Yacht Club Resorts at 92.

I find it puzzling that the DVC portion of the BW received a two-point lower rating. However, WLV is a full five points better (91 v. 86) than the Wilderness Lodge.

In summary, I am very pleased to have an independent source confirm the quality of the DVC, but am still curious as to the reasons for the point disparity. Any theories out there?

The Unoffical guide was that the writer's or people who sent in responses? If I remember right it is from people who respond but not sure. Glad to hear we do get high ratings.

I'm not a statistician, but I don't think the two point difference between Boardwalk Inn and BWV is significant. First of all, we have no idea how many people took part in the survey. The fewer the people, the more fluctuation you could see for the same basic rating.

All in all, I would have to think that room ratings in the 90's is a pretty strong showing across the board. I'm pretty surprised with the 86 for the WL, since we have never found the rooms there to be anything but excellent.

I'm not sure what accounts for the differences. The WL ranking may be because the size of the rooms is quite a bit smaller than most other deluxe rooms.

Deb Wills had an interview with the author and he said he and his staff stay at OKW in a GV when they come down to do research.

Well, staying in a GV would make any other accommodation seem small.
