We bought at the BCV without ever having taken the tour. After having spent five nights at the BCV I just kick myself for not having joined DVC years ago. It is worth every penny. The BCV was great. DW was sick as a dog for a couple of days, Norwalk virus type symptoms, so we did not get as much park time in during this trip. No big deal, we'll be going again in early Feb 2003. Luckily we were able to get to the MVMCP on Tuesday. Illness set in the following day.

We were in # 473, a one bedroomn, which is on the canal facing Spaceship Earth. The Illuminations fireworks were slightly to the right. The noise from the service road was not too bad at all but could be an issue for very light sleepers. When the drapes are closed they do block out almost all of the light from the all night light that is just outside the sliding door. A tiny amount of light slips in just above the curtain rods. DW usually needs complete darkness to get to sleep but she had no complaints so that was not a problem. And finally, the hot water is more like very warm water. Nearly forgot to mention that closet space is a bit sparse. That's it for anything that could be perceived as negative. We love the place.

Just a couple of little notes about a few things at the BC:
We watched them finish up the ginger bread carousel, they did a beautiful job. There is a chocolate amusement park in the Boardwalk lobby that was even more impressive. Beaches and Cream was great. The burgers were very good. The Kitchen Sink is quite an ice cream extravaganza. I could handle one with no problem but where I've just recovered from a minor stroke I figured it would be a bit unwise to give it a shot. A simple three scoop sundae was my limit. Room 473 was convenient to the parking lot. We liked the fact that the walk to Epcot was just a few minutes. The Friendship boat schedule to MGM was good, no unreasonably long waits. We did not experience any bus problems, I don't think we ever had to wait for more than 10 minutes.

Our luck improved on the way home. The ice storm in North Carolina knocked out our power for 36 hours but it was back on just a few minutes before we got home from the airport last night. I hope the other North Carolinians here are as fortunate as us, good luck.

Glad you had a great trip, were counting the days to our first trip home!!

Glad you had a nice stay. We're still at BCV right now- looking out the window at the alligator as I write this! :)

Webmaster Doc, we never did see the gator, are you on the other side of the building from #473?

Okay, I'm impressed. My four kids (two are teenagers) could only finish about three quarters of one.

Sounds like you came to the same conclusion that we did. Why didn't we buy sooner?

Webmaster, Doc-exactly where is that alligator? Darn it if I didn't look and look when I was at BCV and never saw him. Even though we have lots of alligators in the area around us, it would have been such a thrill to see one at WDW.

Glad you had a great time!

When we were there, there was 2 alligators. One that lived right outside the balcony of your room. If you were in 473 he would have been in the canel that was below your room during the time we were there. Most of the time I would catch him coming out from the bridge underneath the service road on the right hand side of the bridge.

There was also one in the front of the resort that we would see under the bridge that you take to check into the resort, we saw him there as well as behind the bus stop.

Sounds like you were there when we were ..... in 473, we were just above you in 323 on the other side. I always wonder if there are fellow disboard viewers right next to me and I don't know it. Glad you are happy with DVC. You aren't the retired teacher couple hanging out in the lobby Friday waiting to leave?

Just a little tip - It will not work with light above the curtain rods without a little extra work - but my Father always travels with clothes pins. He clothes pins the curtains shut at night, and has been known to clothes pin towels to where the curtains don't cover. He is also so neat that he does it in such a way not to wrinkle the curtain!!! It was so hard being a kid with him!!! LOL Wish my DH was more like him!!!! You should see my Father pack a car. It is amazing. LOL

twinglefam: We are not the retired teacher couple. We're still a decade or more short of retirement, but certainly looking forward to it. We'll then be able to spend more time at WDW. I was wearing a Carolina Hurricanes baseball hat around the resort.

buzz5895: If the tiny bit of light had bothered DW I would have rolled up a few towels and placed them on top of the rods. DW and your father would get along great, DW is a neat freak.

We just returned Saturday and had a magical stay at BCV. We saw the aliigator twice, both times right out in the canal by the pool. Standing on the bridge that goes over the part of the canal that goes under the BCV. We also saw two turtles swimming aorund. It was very nice. The BCV are wonderful, we enjoyed every single thing about them. In fact, my DH says that he refuses to stay anywhere else from now on! Our room was ready for early check in at 12:30 and we heard several "Welcome Homes". We were in room 259 facing Epcot but Illuminations was blocked by a bunch of trees. The road was right there but it didn't take away from anything at all. We loved this resort!!!
