We bought at the BCV without ever having taken the tour. After having spent five nights at the BCV I just kick myself for not having joined DVC years ago. It is worth every penny. The BCV was great. DW was sick as a dog for a couple of days, Norwalk virus type symptoms, so we did not get as much park time in during this trip. No big deal, we'll be going again in early Feb 2003. Luckily we were able to get to the MVMCP on Tuesday. Illness set in the following day.
We were in # 473, a one bedroomn, which is on the canal facing Spaceship Earth. The Illuminations fireworks were slightly to the right. The noise from the service road was not too bad at all but could be an issue for very light sleepers. When the drapes are closed they do block out almost all of the light from the all night light that is just outside the sliding door. A tiny amount of light slips in just above the curtain rods. DW usually needs complete darkness to get to sleep but she had no complaints so that was not a problem. And finally, the hot water is more like very warm water. Nearly forgot to mention that closet space is a bit sparse. That's it for anything that could be perceived as negative. We love the place.
Just a couple of little notes about a few things at the BC:
We watched them finish up the ginger bread carousel, they did a beautiful job. There is a chocolate amusement park in the Boardwalk lobby that was even more impressive. Beaches and Cream was great. The burgers were very good. The Kitchen Sink is quite an ice cream extravaganza. I could handle one with no problem but where I've just recovered from a minor stroke I figured it would be a bit unwise to give it a shot. A simple three scoop sundae was my limit. Room 473 was convenient to the parking lot. We liked the fact that the walk to Epcot was just a few minutes. The Friendship boat schedule to MGM was good, no unreasonably long waits. We did not experience any bus problems, I don't think we ever had to wait for more than 10 minutes.
Our luck improved on the way home. The ice storm in North Carolina knocked out our power for 36 hours but it was back on just a few minutes before we got home from the airport last night. I hope the other North Carolinians here are as fortunate as us, good luck.
