I just found out that I can get a 1-br at BWV, BCV (I think) and WLV for $183 including tax for my dates in mid-May. OKW 1-br is also available but I did not ask about the rate. The studios are offered too, but I did not ask about the prices.

Wow, this is a great rate, given the point requirement is at least 28 points for weekdays and much more for weekends. The rate for my discount code is almost the same at a garden view room at GF, $185.

What number did you call to get this rate? I tried to get a discount for the summer, and was told it would cost $283, so this rate is a whole lot better.

What does POFQ closing have to do with DVC discounts ? I'm not saying your wrong,I just don't see the connection.

I think you already had to have a reservation at POFQ to get the special upgrade price. Although AP rates did come out today for stays thru 7/3

What does POFQ closing have to do with DVC discounts

Guest who had reservations already booked at POFQ are being offered awesome upgrades to deluxe and DVC resorts since they cannot stay at the resort they originally booked at.

The upgrades that are being offered to guests impacted by the closure of POFQ are averaging $30.00 more for a deluxe property.

Luckysto, did you have a stay at POFQ booked? As TidoublegeER said, I thought that this was only for guests who have been displaced.

Yes, I had a reservation at POFQ and the rate is for people who need to be relocated.

I have been exploring all the prices for various deluxe resorts but only found out today that DVC resort rooms are also available. It is an incredible rate.

If these discounts for folks who booked POFQ are out there, they are very good. The latest AP rate for a one-bedroom at OKW is $270.

Why is POFQ closing? Is it for rehab or permanent? If it is permanent what will they do with that resort? This is the first I have heard of this.

It's for a major rehab. I think POR will be included as well at a later date. I think the project is supposed to take 2 years total.

OK, not to be a spoil sport here but why does Disney now find that they can offer rooms at DVC resorts at such a great price when before they decided to close POFQ they were pricey? I paid for a cash res at OKW for a 1BR in February and the member discount price was $336 per night, and that was mid week, not a FRI/SAT! Is this costing members $'s by renting out rooms at discount prices?

Most likely, the avalability is from the large number of points DVC has to work with from the member's cruise this winter. Each time a member uses points for a non-DVC option, those points are used for cash rentals at DVC resorts thru CRO. In this case, the extra discount is due to the number of guests displaced by the closing of a resort where they already have a confirmed reservation. CRO has acepted the points and can charge as little as they wish for them- it doesn't cost DVC members anything to do this. The points have already been used by a member.

I agree that the $183 (incl tax??) is a great deal for mid-May, especially if you compare it to the regular rack rates, but...here is what I figure I am paying.

I bought in last year for 170 pts at BCV for 80/pt. That meant I shelled out $13,600 for the 40 year contract. In those 40 years I have the possibility of using a total of 6800 points. Divide 13,600 by 6,800 points, and it comes out to $2/pt over the lifetime of the contract.

So...in mid-May, 8 nights at BCV would cost me 280 points. Multiply that by 2 and I am paying $560, plus my $630 yearly maintenance fee for a total of $1190 for the eight nights.

I don't know if that $183 included tax or tickets. If it did not, you would then be paying $1,464 for the same eight nights via cash. Not a bad price all things considered. If you are getting tickets with your $183 dollars then that is great!!!

Just some food for thought.
